Wow, stuff has changed from my last post in here in 2009. In light of some shows I've watched since then. (I would include Ron Swanson and Gus from BB but Brwned already did it).

Barney Stinson - HIMYM
Dr. Cox - Scrubs
Schmidt - New Girl

Schmidt might even be top after a few series.

Mentions for House, if only the programme could match the character, and the lead guy in Lie To Me, same as House, great lead character, okay programme. Chandler Bing and Peter Griffin have also provided much hilarity.

Pretty much the whole cast of The West Wing.

There's another version of this thread knocking about as well isn't there?

1. Michael Scofield - Prison Break
2. Neal Caffrey - White Collar
3. Severus Snape - Harry Potter
4. Cosmo Kramer - Seinfeld

That one in the newbies with all the Ari Gold-loving gimps?

1. James Bond, as played by Timothy Dalton
"Kara: You were fantastic, we're free!
Bond: Kara, we're inside a Russian airbase in the middle of Afghanistan"

2. Sir Humphrey Appleby, Yes Minister
"'The matter is under consideration' means we have lost the file. 'The matter is under active consideration' means we are trying to find the file."

"Politicians must be allowed to panic. They need activity. It is their substitute for achievement."

"Theology is a device for helping agnostics to stay within the Church of England."

3. Major Boothroyd 'Q'
"Bond: They always said the pen was mightier than the sword
Q: Thanks to me they were right"

"Don't touch that! Thats my lunch"

On Bond taking Holly Goodhead on an orbit around the Earth in Moonraker before returning getting 'randy' in the process Q utters to M the best line in the entire franchise: 'I think they're attempting re-entry sir'.

But a true champion, face to face with his darkest hour, will do whatever it takes to rise above. A man fights, and fights, and then fights some more. Because surrender is death, and death is for pussies.

I'm the man who has the ball. I'm the man who can throw it faster than feck. So that is why i am better than everyone in the world. Kiss my ass and suck my dick... everyone.

I didn't like the film but he's still a terrific character I guess. Think Kinski was supposed to have gone crazy during the filming, though I guess that's standard for a Herzog film.
'...that cunning, honey-tongued quibbler, that pleaser of the mob'?

Think mine are Holden Caulfield, Omar Little and Jack Malone before Without a Trace got really stupid.

It's a shame you've got a horrendous character in the middle here. Randy and Tony are GOAT worthy.
