Favorite female characters in films & television

Just personally don't think she's all that as a character is what I meant..

I can understand why some people might find her attractive (I personally don't)...but as a character, she's really poorly written, poor humour and unfunny jokes..

Her character has detoriated in the last few seasons but particularly at the beginning I found her very entertaining and special.

And yes, she looks good:

Tonys mum in The Sopranos is an excellent character, a complete and utter cnut of a woman. In a show filled with despicable people she was the most hateful. It was brilliantly written and acted - understated and yet she's larger than life and haunts Tont throughout the first 3 seasons. She said very little aside from a few choice phrases but she was so manipulative and always had that glint in her eye where you knew she was just being a cnut for the sake of it - you cheered the old bags demise when it finally came about

Jill Tyrell from Nighty Night is a great character another total headcase but she's got great mannerisms, for such an over the top black comedy she's almost believable - Julia Davis is a genuinely great comic actress imo

Jodie Foster as Iris in Taxi Driver, for such a young girl in a difficult role i thought she was excellent

Gotta love Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction, cool as feck and sexy as hell

Her last few on screen appearances were CGI, using snippets of old clips and adding her image into the clip because the actress had sadly passed away. I was re-watching the series with a mate who hadn't see it before and I couldn't believe I hadn't noticed it before. Little bit of pointless but interesting information for you there.

yeah i knew she died before the filming had wrapped and they cgi'd her into it

first time i watched the sopranos i thought she was a bit shit and found her more of an annoyance than a good character but i'm watching them through again now and i cant help but appreciate what a great character she was. With just a few throwaway lines 'i wish the lord would take me' 'i bet he's good to his mother' 'your father was a saint' etc etc throw in some crying fits and gruesome storys she read in the paper last week and she renders all the other characters helpless to her manipulation. i never wished a grisly death on an old woman so bad as i did her at the end of season one. great character
