How would you rate his performance today? Seriously.

Not sure if I'm rated as a "Veron knocker" (at least there's worse around), but anyways:

Superb first half. The architect behind our attacking play, with great workrate. Also got stuck in, which we need in a game like this. Our best player in the 1st half.

Quiet second half, when Phil Neville took over the workload in midfield. Still some nice moments. All in all, one of his best performances for United IMO

His best premiership game for us defensively, was pressing all the time which has always been his previous downfall. Had a real point to prove and played for his place, particularly winning against Gilberto - which he must find very satisfying. He wasn't at his creative best, his passes not quite coming off, but his committment made up for that. Scored his first goal of the season in the Premiership too.

Keane-Veron

is the line up of the future.

I've had reservations about his ability to play in the PL, but today he was like a different player.

I think he's been to a hypnotherapist who has told him he's a Manc.

Best non-European game he's played I think.

I was very impressed with Seba today. He was certainly up for it (he showed that with his comments yesterday). Hopefully we'll see his best more often and more consistantly :)

I have to admit to being a knocker of late, but todays performance was first class. I think that whatever SAF said to the team after the City game has got to the players, the team in general has responded in magnificent fashion, this includes Seba and if he continues in this form it will be hard to leave him out.
All credit to SAF.

All credit to Seba. Hasn't let the criticism get to him.

I hope Fergie will now play him on merit, and not on reputation. I'm sure that would be good for team spirit for one thing. I do feel that Seba has sometimes been treated differently to the other players, but if they can see that he is in the team when he deserves it, and on the bench or rested when he doesn't, it can only be a good thing.

Brilliant performance from Seba.

Anyone who says he is crap is talking about last season, not this season. He is clearly adapting to the game, and last season can be put down to "first-season-for-foreigner-in-the-premiership" -- same thing that Pires, Henry, etc suffered from.

Today he was great.

Interesting that Keano said on sky he prefers to play with Scholes, though.

he said that he prefers Paul to play in the centre of the park. He went on to talk Scholes up a bit calling him a 'top player'

Im sure Keano would have been impressed by Verons work-rate today which was first class. certainly the best since he's joined us. Was he inspired by Phil Neville?
Veron was still a little sloppy with his passing today, a couple of times he gave the ball away in bad places. if he could eradicate that and be more careful with his passes id be happy.

Veron wasn't that special today, too many stray passes as usual and his showing was ably assisted by an Arsenal midfield that put in what they must consider to be their most inept performance this season.

I've defended him, but was getting very sceptical about his ability to perform in the full blooded Prem encounters.........

UNTIL TODAY !

I rate him 9, along with Phil Neville.

Phil's passing was off at times and Seba gave the ball away on a couple, nearly costly, occassions - but that's being very picky

HE WAS SUPERB - WELL PLAYED

His United carear started today

(like Diego's started last week)

STILL grinning
:D

It looks to me that Veron seem much fitter today. Quite surprising for someone who has just recovered from flu.

In my view, his passing wasn't that outstanding today, except when he put giggs one-on-one on the keeper with a beautiful lobbed pass through the middle. What did stand out, however, was the fact that the was chasing, harrying, nicked balls of people and force them into mistakes. I'm glad to see that he is improving those qualities that were lacking in his play before joining us.

I trust that by the end of this season, he will once again be lauded as one of the best midfielders in the world, together with Keano and Scholsey!

they were partly made to be inept by our own midfield.

Oh come on Dans.

I think the point most people are making is not that he made brilliant passes, but that he worked hard and concentrated on simple stuff. That made all the difference.

Yes, he did make some sloppy passes, but he got stuck in like a PL player today.

all the players made the odd 'sloppy' pass. iam sure if you go back and count everyones mistakes, they'll all be around the same amount...

veron's an easy target...

I thought he had a great game..

So because he put in a bit of effort we should all be thankful and praising him to the hilt should we? Not me. He did today what he should do every game, as any midfielder does including those currently injured and they don't give the ball away like Veron does either. So in summary, nothing special.

Well imo it shows that he can perform in the PL, and that's something to be happy about.

Credit where it's due.

Agree fully that he got stuck in and competed, and it was good to see him get the goal. He was definately more in the game than usual, and that is definately encouraging.

Though he still got hassled off the ball, and was sloppy at times. On current form I would still choose Scholes as Keane's partner when playing 2 CMs, definately.

It's his best EPL game for us, may be not because of quality, but because of work rate and committment. I truly hope it's a signal that Veron has finally understood how to play EPL match -- he must forget about his playing style in Italy and he must play football in United way, which is, passion, quality and committment. Hope he keep it up and continue his good work.

i must say your faith in his has finally paid off.. i never slagged him either, but you have by far been the most up front with protecting him.

Salute to Veron!

And Neil, his passes weren't that great, but the simple ones that he was making were United class IMO. he was trying very hard to keep it tight and simple today.

He had a great game. Great control of the ball and i like the way he celebrated the first goal. Bravo Seba!!!

thank goodness Forlan didn't play...

A great job well done by Fergie in getting all the tactics right.

Veron played well. No doubt. And it was a big bonus that he showed the steel and determination that is required for the PL.

If we can incorporate him into the PL team and have his undoubted skills on display in Europe I will be happy enough.

The biggest problem I see is when everyone is fit. There are 6 places to be filled from Keane, Scholes, Veron, Giggs, Beckham, RVN, Ole, Forlan, Butt, Giggs, any new striker signed in Jan plus arguably Phil Neville.

Not a bad problem really, especially when we have similar "problems" in defense when everyone is fit and doubly so if we sign another left back in Jan.

I don't consider myself to be a Seba knocker although I've always said that I think other players should be given an equal chance for a place in the team.

That being said, I thought Seba was more than worth his place yesterday. IMO, it was one of his best performances for us in the league. It wasn't so much his goal. What really impressed me was his commitment, work rate, and the tackles that he put in. There was a lot of desire there...and long may it continue.

Hopefully, he's turned the corner in the league now and we'll start seeing these performances from him week-in, week-out.

His best performance for United.
His score is very very important!!!
But I think, he can play better because he has such capability! Just like Zidane.
;) ;) ;)

i loved the way he grabbed the corner flag after his goal, wrapped his united shirt shoved it into air, to say he was a true red.

He has shown that he can produce it in the Premiership and he has now set himself a standard that he has to atleast try and match week in week out.
Yesterday was undoubtably a great performance especially in the first half and if he keeps that sort of standard up every week then great. I think the criticism he received after the City match may have got to him a bit. I don't think he realised just how big the match was. He was so much more fired up for yesterdays game.

It was great to see that he got stuck in and he was prepared to fight for every ball. That is the kind of player we need him to be in the Premiership.

It's easy for people to say that anyone who has given him stick in the past must feel pretty stupid after yesterday but i'm not prepared to get over excitied about his future in the premiership until he puts in performances like that on a regular basis. I'm not being negative just realistic.

Were you worried like me, though, when he had a bit of a problem getting his shirt back on? Although being female, I'm certainly not going to complain when he and Diego celebrate by whipping their shirts off, I was envisaging another Diego scenario! Luckily, Seba had better luck than Diego. (What is it with these shirts though? There must be something special about them for it to be so difficult to get them back on.)

Its about time veron rolled up his sleeves and put the work in dont you think?, i mean do you really need a season and a half before realizing you have to get stuck in?...

I have been patient with Veron, but this season my patience ran out, even in this game i am still left far from convinced - i really dont think his performance was anything to rave about, without the incredible work-rate of scholes and phil Neville his contibution was really only the minimum you would expect from your main center midfielder and that has been the story with many of Verons games.

Maybe he will come consistantly good for us... I for one do hope so, but i cant help but still have the feeling that there's something not quite right there.

And my biggest question of all for the team is can they put that same effort into every game or will the likes of west ham, man city and middlesbourgh still end up taking points off us due to lack of passion and desire to win?

A couple of weeks ago you would have been laughed at for suggesting Phil could inspire anything positive from our players. Times change quickly. It's good to see the squad players like Phil making valuable contributions. And even better to see potentially one of our best players show that he might yet justify the 28 million.

You all know what I think of Veron, he is qual

Still think Veron's the most likely player to be sold whenever Fergie decides to tweak the squad, whether in January or later this year. As others have said, while it's great he's raising his workrate, he's not a high tempo player and never will be.

But let's hope I'm wrong, I was very excited when we signed Veron and I'm still hoping to see him really dominate a game with a world class performance.
