FAO that guy who said he'd seen the doors live

I used to work with someone who saw them in Paris, lucky fecker.

I've always said if I could go back in time, seeing the Doors live would be top of my wish list.

Seeing Hendrix live would just about top my time travel wish list I think.

Definitely, it'd be incredible.

You should sign up to the doors forums, there's a few people on there who knew Jim or interviewed him and the current Doors manager Jeff Jampol frequently posts on there. The forums are fairly quiet these days though :(

What exactly was good about them? I'd like someone to explain. They are made out to be something that they never were. I don't mind them, but they were never anything very special, neither are Def Leppard.

Fantastic musicians.

Fantastic chemistry.

Fantastic frontman

Poetic Lyrics

And from the footage I have seen and eye witness reports from people I have met, one of the best live acts in the history of music.

Let us start with the first point. Why are they "Fantastic Musicians"? Sorry I don't get this part.

Part two: Possibly.

Part Three: I don't see what qualities he has, and I've seen the cnut's grave in Paris. He wasn't bad by any means, but people try to make him out to be something he never was. A bit like Lennon.

Part Four: Poetic in what way? You mean drug fueled?

They made great fecking music, that's what makes them so special. I can understand that you don't like them. Not everyone likes the Beatles or the Stones. I certainly don't expect everyone to like The Doors either. A lot people are fans of The Doors for Morrison alone but if you try to get past his image and actually listen to their songs you'll fall in love with them. As a teenager I used to spend hour upon hour listening to LA Woman. What a great fecking tune that is.

I don't like the Beatles, generic trash for the most part with hardly any musical value. The Doors are greater than the Beatles IMO.

Part one - they were all classically trained musicians with huge talent, you should be able to appreciate that if you have the love for music that you profess to have.

Part 2 - No possibly about it, they had an almost telepathic understanding of what each other was doing, amazing to see I can imagine.

Part 3 - He was a charismatic front man, not sure how you can argue this point really.

Part 4 - Doesn't really matter what fuels it, most great popular music over the years has been drug fueled in some way.

I do love these late night musical disscusions.

Robbie Williams is charismatic as well if you want to put it in the way of having half the female population of Europe and Asia going gaga. I'm not sure of what context you are trying to use here.

Robbie Williams is a great front man too, it's the ability to hold and captivate an audience, Morrison could certainly do this.

It's a shame Lizard has logged off, he'd have been all over this.

I've known plenty of people I work with who've seen the Doors and the general review was that half of the Doors shows were Morrison in an alcholic incoherent slumber ,then waking up and belting out amazing moments. You'd have to be tripping out on some really good acid to get maximium enjoyment out of it.
Hendrix on the other hand with an amazing band much more talented than the Doors musicians were supposed to be energetic and incredible all night.

Even if you ignore the importance of Jim Morrison as a personality, a musician and a lyricist, they were a great band. The way they used the keyboard and the electric piano was pioneering, there's still probably no band who's ever touched that.

feck the Doors but The Beatles single handedly invented all modern song writing basically. So yeah generic, if every band that proceeded them in the last 40 years is generic too. So much of their music doesn't even sound generic or dated compared to anything out today like "Hey Jude". I think you should stick to your spanish pop music.

The Pistols are the greatest band ever. One album is all you need to change music forever.
