FAO Mods/admins

Because there is alot of smut related threads around at the moment? This happened in the newbies aswell, every other thread was NSFW about some girl or another, so Eyepopper closed them all down and made the 'newbie masturbatorium', or whatever it was called in the end

Not the Epic Asses!?!?!? Oh sad times.

Why the sudden crackdown on more, adult orientated threads all of a sudden, if you dont mind me asking?

We've noticed a sharp degradation in the quality of threads, particularly in the Gen forum over the past 6 months or so, as well as a broader lowering of civility in the way people on the site talk to one another - bad language being the primary culprit. In order to address the issue, we are removing threads that we feel aren't contributing to making the site better. Most of this will take place in the Gen, but also occasionally in the Transfers and a few others forums.

The caf doesn't need it IMO but what goes and doesn't has become vague lately. Which can cause trouble. It can seem like double standards.

We tried the approach of letting most things go in the Gen for many years, but in recent times its gotten sufficiently bad where we decided to clean things up a bit.

No harm, just without an announcement it can seem arbitrary.

Personally ...I think all porn/nudity should be banned, like streams are ... it's all freely available, no need for it on here.

Yeah I agree. On streams, we just don't want to deal with the legal headaches of having the CAF be perceived as a place that openly encourages pirated tv programs.

On the nudity thing, its just a matter of simple common sense. A lot of people access the CAF at work or else in places where their families can see the screen. We should try to make this place a more civil place to post, so that more people feel welcome to do so.

This is starting to prevail in the United forum also, the Glazer threads in particular seem to descend into name calling and general bickering.

If you see this type of thing, please feel free to PM one of us to let us know, as we don't usually see every instance of it.

No KP, it means selling drugs on the caf is banned. It's a common sense initiative.

Actually, maybe PM me if you have any trouble with what you think is safe or not.

Just stop promoting adolescent virgins, problem solved.

This would be a very boring place if that was the case...

It wouldn't, the teenage types are all hysterical when they arrive, look at Elvis, he was like a wasp around a pint of cider when he was promoted first, now he's a pillar of caf society.

So I guess the Emma watson thread with it's million views is gone?

Without wishing to stick my oar in....

I'd agree with the approach you're taking with the General. Some of it has gotten daft, and as a regular, I'm sure I'm at least as much to blame as anyone.

But I'd hope the purge extends to the football forums. You lot do a great job in there, but in terms of getting rid of things that do the site no favours, there seems to be a habit among quite a few posters to persistently post shite, and then spend days on end attritionally arguing the toss until they and whoever they are left arguing with are the only ones who have the will tom post in the thread.

One example is the constant bringing of Berbatov into every argument by certain posters, regardless of what the argument's about, to the point where we can't have a reasonable discussion in there. IMHO a lot of that comes down to the newbies, and perhaps a firmer approach might bring them along a bit quicker.

Just my two cents worth, I'm not trying to step on any toes.

Noticed that as well and will be keeping an eye out for that in the Gen, as well as the other forums. Also, there are quite a view agenda driven posters who post about the same thing over and over, which can get a bit tedious. We'll take these on case by case as we see them.

I sometimes read through my older posts and threads and I cringe a lot. I would like to apologise to you all.

I agree with Brophs.

'In jokes' are funny to start with, but once the newbies get hold of them and start spamming the same hackneyed lines all over the forums it gets old, I'd like to see less of that.

Happy to see a culturisation of the General et al though.

I think there has been a general decline in the level of discussion across the forum. Too many seem incapable of expressing their opinions intelligently or debate in a civilised manner, and then of course there's an increasing number who just jump into threads with the sole intention to stir up arguments to relieve their boredom.

Thankfully none of the rest of us have evidence of they way we thought when we were in our teens. I sometimes think back to some of the things I said at 17, never mind the things I thought, and you weren't that bad, let me tell you. A bit overly-enthusiastic, but there are much worse crimes.

The problem is that a group of posters, some new, some old use just about every thread in the general for their own 'hilarious' in-jokes that is of no interest to the rest of the population. I don't want to name names but I think it's there for all to see who it concerns. Isn't there a newbie memoirs thread where writing 'burndogg is gay' over and over would go down a hoot?

And the bloody gay jokes is getting really old. It's so bloody childish and immature and drags the quality of the general down.

Banning nudity/offensive pictures is alright, also editing offensive thread titles is a good idea.
