Anybody tempted by a Son and Salah draft and ignore the premium strikers?

Something like this...

Pope
TAA Robertson Cancelo Perisic
Salah Son Bailey Neto
Jesus Wilson

I thougt about something similar to this originally but decided that Kane might be better value than Son to begin with. He's cheaper and Spurs have Son, Kulu, Lucas, Richarlison and potentially Perisic/Sessegnon who could play in that forward role- therefore figured Kane would be less likely to be subbed.

what are peoples thoughts on Havertz this season? If I was going for a cheaper forward than Kane I might have been tempted with him?

One player I can confidently say I'll be going nowhere near ever again. He's on the banned list for me.

Son captain at home to Southampton might get you a jump start on everyone else. (Yeah I know the alternative).

I like this team. I think Son captain is a good differential that could smash it.

Wilson is a good differential as well and against Forest I can see him score a 1-0 winner and take all bonus.

I would change Pope to Ramsdale though due to fixtures, but if you fancy him go for it.

I think I'm finally settled. Decided against Bailey because I just don't want the headache if he is dropped. Bournemouth will be a game I miss but Neto has Leeds, who are equally leaky.

Pope
TAA, Cancelo, James, Perisic
Salah, Diaz, Martinelli, Neto
Haaland, Jesus

Subs: Ward, Andreas, Williams, Archer

As template as it gets but I'm happy with that.

What is your reasoning behind Diaz over Robertson?

I had Diaz, but changed to Robertson. A big reason was getting Bailey as well.

For me I expect Diaz to get subbed earlier more often.

Over a full season I expect 15-20 clean sheets for Robertson. 2-4 goals and 8-12 assists for Robertson.

Diaz 10-15 goals and 8-12 assists.

Per game I just think Robertson will average more points right now, but Fulham is the type of games where Liverpool win 5-1 and Mitrovic gets a goal.

You feel that Diaz will get involved a lot?

Changed it again, but i like this team very much actually, so it probably will go south.

Sanchez (Forster)
Cancelo-TAA-Perisic (Neco-Patterson)
Sancho-Saka-Neto-B.Silva (Andreas)
Haaland-Kane-Jesus

Would be more than happy for tips/ideas.

Okay, so this is my final draft,

Sanchez(Ward)
Robertson Cancelo Chilwell Gabriel Digne
Mahrez Salah Bruno G Martinelli (Andreas P)
Jesus Kane (Archer)

Opinions anyone? Thank you
Who is first on your bench for GW1? Downgrade them and replace Robertson with Trent, Voldemort picked up a potential hamstring injury in a recent Newcastle game, so could be a doubt for Newcastle’s opener which could mean Bruno playing a deeper role.

Robertson is probably the better pick but I want a £8m mid for flexibility and he's the one that I trust most early on because Jota seems to have a long term injury so he should play and Liverpool have easy fixtures so he can easily haul.

Also, there are so many good defenders like TAA, Perisic, James etc that Robertson can be ignored (although he is up there with the best of them) because there are alternatives. There aren't as many guys obvious choices for midfield.

Finally, I prefer the structure and flex on 4-4-2 with an £8m mf.
How is Neto doing? Seems like loads of people have him in the team.
He's in teams because he's the best 5.5 mid due to fixtures and is being used as an enabler.

Are there too many questions surrounding the Chelsea fullbacks with especially 3 more of them being linked? I’m not sure James will be in my final team.

It still hurts doesn't it?

I've tried to blank it from my memory but the scars run deep. Not helped by Liverpool battering us and Salah hauling as well as Jota who I'd taken out for Havertz. That was a dark dark day.

I watched all of that Norwich game as well. Don't think I've ever swore so much.

Everyone and their mum will be on a Haaland captain in week 2. Scott Parker is waving the white flag on the season before even week 1. The beating will be severe.

Yeah in that instance I'd captain Cancelo or get KDB in. They might actually just sit really deep and try not to get battered. Could be a good game for a roving Cancelo with no defensive duties.

I like your delusion. Haaland is getting 4 that day mate

Yeah I agree about the flexibility, but I feel like I will probably keep Diaz/Robbo even if Liverpool have a bad game. 90% I will do that.

If Robertson has an awful game and Fulham smash them and City look absolute on fire with one City attacker not being Haaland has a world class game then that is a tricky situation for me with Robertson.

What I might do then is do James/Robbo out for a cheaper defender and then upgrade a midfielder into the City pick I want for a hit.

The thing is Pep might still feck mahrez if he has such game. I do not trust him enough to justify that hit not after last season. Also if Mahrez goes up 0.1 even with Diaz you can't get him in one move unless you are quick or sell Salah.

I may also have the option to do Salah to Mahrez, but yeah it is like 0.1% chance I do that if Salah is fit.

I feel though as long as I have Haaland as captain gameweek 2 that is enough cover for me. Playing early Pep roulette by removing a top pick like Robertson or Diaz for a hit is probably not the best strategy even if Bournemouth could be smashed.

I thought about having Diaz over Robertson for flexibility but ultimately decided that in any scenario where I sold Diaz before the wildcard I'd immediately be looking to bring in a different third Liverpool player as a priority anyway. At which point it stops being that flexible because it prompts another transfer.

Is Mount worth 2 mil over James for Chelsea coverage?

I can either get Mount + Patterson for 12 Mil vs James and + Martinelli for the same price.

Well when you look at it like that no but you won't be starting Patterson every week surely whereas I assume James and Martinelli are in your 11 every week? Depends on your overall squad.

Chelsea 7 - 0 Norwich

Havertz (c) 4pts
ah there are quite a few with the same traumatic experience i see.
Made it even worse that everyone else had Salah as captain and he had a 25 point haul the day after vs United at OT....

I honestly wanted to quit FF after this.

This is my team at the moment

Sanchez

Perisic
Zinchenko
Tripper
Robertson
Cancelo

Salah
Sancho
Diaz

Kane
Jesus

Ward Andreas Bailey Plange

Thoughts?

Ederson
Dalot Cancelo Robertson Trippier
Mount Sancho Salah Bailey
Kane Jesus

Bench - Forster, Neto, Patterson, Archer.
Having James would probably relegate Martinelli to the bench giving me a benching headache,

looking at your team Mount and Patterson over James and Martinelli though you could go James and Martinelli over Dalot and Sancho.

Sanchez + Mount... Or Ederson + Bailey with 2m in the bank to upgrade when Villa fixtures turn..

Going without Salah for now.

Salah, Raya, Martinelli, Rashford vs Bowen, Saka, Maddison, Ederson

Almost looks like a no brainer as long as Haaland or Kane can perform consistently.

Youre hoping that Bowen continues his form into this season. It doesn't always work like that. Salah is proven season in, season out.

Do you keep Neto or rather go with a 5m def like Doherty or Trippier? Neto needs to score fairly well to match them I think.

I had Neto in my first few drafts but I've gone off him. I'd rather have a 5m defender, Gabriel/Doherty/Trippier.

With Schmeichel likely off I'm tempted to put Ward on the bench for 4 million just on the off chance that they don't sign another keeper.

Ok we'll see how I get on initially. Not sure about the Chelsea players bout Mount seems like a decent bet to do well.

Ederson; TAA, Robertson, Zinchenko, Romero; De Bruyne (C), Mount, Kovacic; Martial, Alvarez, Jesus.

Subs: Gazzaniga, Targett, Bruno Guimaraes, Bowen.

I don't think it's great but we'll see.

Havertz (c) 4pts
I was on holiday with the wife that weekend and the above nearly ruined it for me. ( pathetic i know )

The very next holiday we had, Salah scored a hattrick against United in that 5-0 drubbing.

Our next holiday is in October .. I will have to check the fixtures hahaha

Not feeling good about your attacks vs Fulham?
