Fantasy Premier League 22/23

Let's hope they do continue to stink things up.
I'd just be very nervous with TAA, as he can easily get an assist and cleany combo and you're suddenly facing a double digit punishment.
Salah has certainly not lived up to 13m this season - we've all gone on rep.
I still have Cancelo and Reece James. Its not too bad, fingers crossed. :)

I’m happy to go without Salah (famous last words). KDB softens the blow.

Think I will stick with TAA, though. Liverpool are surely going to tighten up soon and start getting clean sheets.

Oh Jesus you're right, i just didn't want to admit it to myself. I would tell myself it will be okay, Liverpool will continue being shit, Trent's a has-been shit wanker right back now and Salah is playing too wide and not worth the 13 million comparing his contributions to KDB. But being truthful it's been giving me sleepless nights ever since i took them out, just worrying about this inevitable huge haul and the destruction of my fantasy league hopes and dreams in just one gameweek.

My Fantasy League life...over just like that.

I tried telling myself "IT'S JUST A GAME, LIFE GOES ON, IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD IF SALAH HAULS" but I just don't know how i will live with myself.
Some bits are tbc, but the bold bits are right.

People were having a moan at Bailey being picked, a 4.7 mid who actually has scored and assisted this season, yet no word about those who spent 8m+ on a WHU mid who has nothing to show for this season and again posted a mammoth xG and xA of 0.0 and 0.1 today. Just following the narratives.

Exactly.

So any thoughts on bringing James in for Dier? I've got 1.4m left and James is 6m. I thought about replacing Saliba because of Tottenham's record of 13 clean sheets under Conte last season but it doesn't look like they're any good defensively this season despite setting up like Mourinho. Also I've just checked and Spurs have the hardest run of all.

Meanwhile Potter might sort Chelsea's defence out ahead of a month of easier fixtures. Plus James looks in amazing form. Alternatives are replacing Saliba with James, or an Arsenal midfielder with Bernardo Silva ahead of Arsenal's slightly harder run. Or should I make it a priority to bring Cancelo in somehow as others have done?

I've tried to factor in Arsenal and Man City blanking in GW12 too, so have actually gone with no Arsenal players from GW9.

If you're thinking of moving out Saliba, sit tight. He's likely to go up in price between now and GW9 whereas I'd be surprised if James did (or at least to the same extent).

Interesting. Didn't realise both teams had a blank at the same time, I'll keep it in mind. Ideally I'd like to bring in Mac Allister or Gross for midfield on the cheap but there's no telling what'll happen to them now without Potter. I see some people are thinking of bringing Maddison for Leicester's run of easy fixtures as well, which is a thought albeit seems risky in a shit team.

Also I said this about Leicester conceding goals costing Maddison points:

Not sure how many points that costs for GC and possibly BPS, but maybe quite a few?

Yes, I've re-read the rules now. Everyone's silence spoke volumes.

Yep. Bailey is fine to sit on the bench as well. You can't really put Bowen there.

I just don't get it. His form is shit, stats back that up, West Ham playing shit and the upcoming fixture aren't THAT easy... Why would people get him? Especially as he's same price or higher than Foden, Saka, Zaha, Madison, Diaz etc

Was the youtubers pick too which probably influenced things.

On wildcard should I go TAA and Salah? Fixtures are bad, but so are Spurs, ours, Arsenal and City. Salah is a beast in big games too and KDB blanks.

I can always easily move him to Son as well if Son starts playing better

I thought I was smart getting him in draft after someone dropping him. Maybe the other guy who dropped him for Gordon is the smart one.

Not a Bowen owner but looking at last game it more looked a case of Bowen’s teammates not playing well and finishing what he sends their way. Valid too, for not picking him, its probably just as much a team thing.

Hoping fixtures would generate form, I guess.

They still have home games against Wolves, Fulham, Bournemouth, Palace and Leicester before GW16, plus Southampton away, along with the Everton fixture just gone. Might not be that easy but it's still pretty easy.

That and timing. Of the alternatives you mention Diaz didn't have a game this week, Saka now has Spurs/Liverpool/blank in his next four, Foden now has United/Liverpool/blank in his next four, Zaha didn't have a game this week and plays Chelsea next week and even Maddison had a nominally tough fixture against Spurs this week.

I don't like the Bowen pick, but I get it, especially if you had to WC this week. You punt hoping fixtures see them spark into life and if not it's an easy switch to Maddison/Zaha once they get past a few rough fixtures.

What are people's opinions on Luis Diaz now? I'm thinking I would want some Liverpool coverage after the City game but for those who have been watching the scousers... is he a good option? Kinda weary because I know Jota is nearly ready and Darwin is back so his minutes might be affected?

I'm considering getting Diaz instead of Salah from GW12 and on. Their output is somehow similar. Enough time to see who Klopp drops too. Could change my mind, but I think Diaz is more nailed than Jota and Darwin.

To be honest, I think Darwin will be subbed in from the bench quite a lot when Klopp realizes he's just not as good with his feet as Jota/Firmino and therefore hinders his best man Salah in performing.

Just a thought, but will some players perform 10-20% less good before the World Cup?

Around mid-october players will do anything to avoid injury so they can feature in the World Cup. Will we see rotation or do the managers not care?

Who is a good sub 9m mid for like the next 4 games? I literally cant find anyone!

Saka - bad fixtures and a blank
Foden - Not the best fixtures and a blank
Bowen -
Rashy (or any United lad) - Spurs and City in the next 4
Kulu - Minutes risk

I have Maddisson, Zaha, Martinelli already.

He's not affecting games as much as he was last season because we're crap and every part of our game from pressing to movement is completely off. But he's a very competitive player who puts himself about and gets in positions to receive passes and our high line still allows us to create a lot of chances (albeit some games a lot more than others). If he was more composed with his finishing he'd have a couple more goals already, and if others could finish he'd have more assists.

Given he's managed to get 30+ points despite being out of form and in a team that's not functioning, he's not a bad option. I just baulked at his price because he's out of form, but much like Salah he's still scoring in FPL.

His minutes won't be affected, no. He's our starting left winger/forward and no one's taking his spot.

I might just get him in. Thanks for the write up.

Does Robertson injury impact?

How long’s he out by the way?

Captain Son worked wonders this week for me, up from 550k -> 80k overall.

Some say stupid, some say genius. I'll let you decide

I just don't know if he's value for money though. Some games he, and the rest of the team, are complete shit but he usually has a chance or two fall to him. 8.2m is a lot for a guy who's not actually in form, in a team that's not functioning. But yeah, if we start looking better after the international break I might think about adding him.

Thing is, except the ones I already got, none of the non premium mids are looking electric so just gotta pick one and gamble. Diaz is as risky as the lot of them...

Impact what, Diaz's performance?

"Out until after the international break" is what Klopp said a week ago. Just had a look at it, there's no update.
Yes. Sorry, not clear.

Could be a complete red herring but just wondered if his injury is impacting on Diaz as they seemed to have a decent relationship.

As you say, not playing well (as a team) is a big factor.

Dunno about the injury but Robbo being absolute shit this year actually possibly a big factor in him being out of form actually (him and TAA having the worst seasons of their lives are a big part of why we're shit).

Yeah, food for thought. The fact that he's got 32 points without playing well has piqued my interest. Soon as I see some signs we're good again I'm going to add him or Salah to my team. Possibly both.
