Fans Singing Ole Songs

RVP’s one season it better than Ole’s whole entire United career.

Where I’m from close to my age can’t nobody tell us different. If your older than 40 then maybe it’s different and fair play to you guys.

 I need to go to fecking bed.

I am over 40 but willful ignorance is still ignorance though mate.

Your first sentence is absolutely ridiculous and you don't need to be over 40 to recognise that.

You are over 40 which is why you can’t understand me and I can’t understand you. Nothing wrong with that.

I was about to start secondary school you probably was ready to hit the bars in 99. How we consumed football would of been different.

Hence why the best player in the league in RVP meant more to me in my 20’s than the guy second fiddle to Cole and Yorke scoring the winner meant to you in 99.

Just saying.. not saying your point of view is wrong but it doesn’t make me a ‘non’ United fan for it.

It's nothing to do with age, you just have a shit opinion. I'm 29.

Him becoming our manager kinda complicates stuff abit.

Nothing wrong with singing his song as he's one of our legend. And we have been singing it long before he becomes our manager so it's not out of norm. It's just what it's uses to be.

But i too get the slight cringe because he just got sacked as manager, attend our matches and it must have been weird for Rangnick.

Now i believe he too gets that it's just the way it is.

Anyway. He's gone. So song or no song hardly matters

RVP at his best is better than Ole. RVP season for us was better than any Ole season but his whole career ? He won us the CL he scored vital goals for years

That's a very nice rationalisation and and it might make sense is you didn't say this:

RVP’s one season it better than Ole’s whole entire United career.

As you did, it's quite laughable. You didn't mention not being there or that one means not to you than the other. You just made a straight up claim that's demonstrably nonsense.

There is nothing wrong with singing Ole's song but it is a bit wired that it is the only song that I hear when I'm watching the game on telly. I can't even remember last time I heard Cantona chant but Ole's chant seems to go on nonstop for the entire 90 minutes.

Solskjaer was top scorer for United in his first season too. He did exactly what RVP did in his first season. Solskjaer easily ranks as a top 25 United player of all time imo, RVP definitely doesn't. The fact you rate RVP higher just means you're being ignorant of Ole's true impact as a United player imo.

Not only ignorant but also whatever opinions he has going forward, carries a lot less credibility and weight.

“If you don't know history, then you don't know anything. You are a leaf that doesn't know it is part of a tree. ”

Don't lump everyone below the age of 40 in with your ridiculous opinion. I was only 6 during the 99 treble winning season but I know exactly what Ole did for us during the 90's and early 2000's, of which was much bigger than RVP's one season (As great as it was). Just because you are not aware of your own clubs history doesn't mean no one else is.

Seen a few people moaning about this or calling it “cringe”.

Let’s get it straight, Ole Solskjaer is and always will be a Manchester United legend. Fans have sung his name for over 20 years and will continue to do so long into the future, just like they do with Cantona and many many others.

It didn’t work out for him as manager sadly, and I wanted him out as much as anyone, but that doesn’t stain his legacy with the club so STFU whining and join in the celebration and recognition of his playing career with us.

Hopefully the songs are sung every game until the end of the season, the shit storm at the end of his tenure was the fault of the crack heads running the club.
Ole is a fkn legend and always will be, just a shame he wasn’t as good a manager as he was a player.

That’s the dumbest thing that’s ever been said in the football forums.

Honestly didn't think anyone would find it cringe, but then again I probably give some of our fanbase too much credit. As if his managerial stint have erased his entire contribution to the club as a player.

Five Cantonas was sung more than any other one song last night.

The fans who sing about Ole aren't trying to imply that he was wrongfully sacked. And those same fans will be 100% behind Ralf.
I just hope Rangnick understands this, too - or that someone explains it to him. Because well, in most places in Europe loudly singing the praises of the former manager would very much be interpreted as a protest against the new manager. Of course Rangnick spent significant time in England so there's a good chance he understands the culture.

You're just deaf to reason and try too hard to be an anti-Ole edgelord. Nothing to do with age.

He looks intelligent guy, so chances of him taking that in a wrong way is very slim. If it's Jose, yeah he would have used that against the club during bad run of form.

Yup, heard them singing Ooh Aah Oohh aah Cantona too. All the classics come out at Christmas.
No problem with Ole songs personally. It was his teams that qualified for the knockouts so last night was a nice touch. I don’t think they will last forever if Ralf gets the lads firing up the league table though.

RVP is an Arsenal legend and a very good player for United. Ole is a Bona fide dyed in the wool United legend. No comparison.

Here, some context for you.

I think the "they're singing about his playing career" part completely misses the point. If they're singing about his managerial career at United it's perfectly justified.

He had some great moments as manager and, although it finished badly, there was more good than bad during his time in charge. But, most importantly, everything he did while manager of the club was with the club's best interests at heart. No selfishness, no short termism.

Singing for Ole is in no way derogatory towards the new manager. If Rangnick wins the Champions League with United this season, nobody will be happier than Ole. He even spent considerable time passing on his knowledge to the new manager.

It didn't work out at United but you won't hear the bitterness or sniping that we heard from Moyes, LVG or Jose. Ole is a class act. He couldn't get United back to the top but he gave it everything he could. He should be very proud of his managerial run at United and I have complete respect for the way he conducted himself throughout.

Martial was better than Georgie Best

if you're over 80 maybe its different but you can't tell us different

They've been singing about RR too ("We love you Rangnick, we do" is a pretty obvious statement, I'd say).

He's praised the fans already, by the way - he's an intelligent man, he obviously understands that they aren't singing about Ole in order to spite him.

I couldn't agree more. Some "fans" are straight up weirdos. It needed to be said. He wasn't what we wanted as a coach but it sure as hell doesn't erase his legendary status obtained as a player

Mate you was 6. What do you know I watched the majority of his career you probably don’t even know his debut. Give it a rest or how when he originally came on the scene how commentators couldn’t pronounce his name correctly. Give it a rest this one isn’t for you

Yeah I know. Was it a season like RVP’s? Did he go on to be one of the best strikers in world football? Did any other big club want him?

Rank the top 25 so we can debate how he’s ahead of players he shouldn’t be.

Were there that many songs about Ole last night? Crowd was quite loud through the TV and I didn't hear many. It seemed to be mostly the Cantona and Donny Van de Beek songs.

I don't have a problem with it either way. Ole failed as a manager at the end, but he still did plenty of good during his reign. But he's being celebrated as a player first and foremost, and likely always will be.

Cantona's Chant has been heard quite a lot at recent matches as it's the time of year. I can only remember hearing My Only Solskjaer towards the end of last night's match as they were doing all those type of songs. I don't remember there being Ole chants throughout the game.
