I hate them, and they should be banned.

The are lame.
Unfunny.
Unimaginative.
Unproductive.
And are used by posters to derail discussions or simply harass other posters (for example, Ole_Gunnar has posted the hilarious Captain Picard facepalm picture to my previous few posts, for no particular reason. See: https://www.redcafe.net/f6/manchest...oor-players-we-should-more-like-spurs-254692/)
p.s bonus point to the first poster to post that oh-so-funny 'Thread Failed' stamp.

This thread is

They are sometimes used in an intelligent way, unfortunately that isn't very often and they are cliche and cringe worthy most of the time.

Indeed, especially when some nerdy little kid is posting it sat behind his computer about a decision that Sir Alex Ferguson is making.

I think they should be allowed in the General and Entertainment forums, but in the Football forums where people are usually attempting to have constructive discussions its completely unfunny and unnecessary.

Occasionally. At least it wasn't an eyesore, and it poked fun at an Arsenal player, rather than harassing members and derailing threads.

I hope for your sake that this thread was meant as reverse psychology because sooner or later it's going to turn into exactly what you're railing against.

FYI

I cant think of a way that they could be systematically prevented, but I think that people who overuse them should be punished.

For example Ole_Gunnar, he has now posted the image after several of my posts in the last half hour or so, because I told him that I find it lame and unfunny. I certainly think that those posts should be deleted and he should recieve some form of punishment, for general twattery. If an admin could look into this it would be much appreciated.

Maybe you are overeacting a little.

I wouldn't like it.

But I wouldn't run to the admin for help either.

Just tell whoever it is to f**k off.

I have, guess what that achieves? They post it again.

7 of his last 10 posts have been just that picture. 6 directed at me, after serious posts, because I told him to feck off with it yesterday (he posted it against SAF...SIR ALEX FERGUSON!)

The posts should at the very least be deleted.

I dont like running to the admins but there is only two ways to deal with this. This is the first, and the second is to fight fire with fire, but I dont see what that would achieve.

Maybe if you weren't posting spasticity he wouldn't have to.

Also cry more.

Incorrect.

He posted it against SAF.

I told him to feck off, said it was unfunny, and he has since posted it in response to my posts regardless of the content.

Well I like Facepalm/Thread Fail/Zomg fail images/gifs.

A picture is worth a million words.

They're a bit like those captions with the picture and black border around them. In that they're intended to be funny, but aren't, and have become so cliche that posting them is effectively a lazy way of admitting you're an internet nerd.

Now now noods that internet is serious business pic cracks me up every time.

I think its the look of oblivious achievement on the guys face.

So we are in agreement then?

What can be done about it? Can you at least delete Ole_Gunnar's posts and get him to stop e-stalking me?

I fail to see how this constitutes stalking. It takes no effort to click the "see posts by this user" button. It's not like he's hiding in the bushes out the front of your house.

It takes more effort to be a cnut than it does to not be a cnut.

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

Listen Mrs Valencia, we've already established it isn't stalking.

Everyone on this forum is cnut. Including me. And you. And Ole_Gunnar.

I suspect that you've played into his hands by crying here about it.

What is it then? If he is going to post it after any post he sees me make until he gets bored?

Essentially yes. Can I recomend the ignore function if you find him a cnut of a poster who only posts derisive pictures or one liners, an opinion of yours that I learned of by clicking the find more posts button next to your name there. Wait that makes me a stalker doesn't it?

Of course you could continue amusing him by working yourself into a self important lather here though.

No, because you're not going into random threads and replying to me with the sole intention of harassing me.

I could put him on ignore but frankly I don't want every post I make to be followed by a captain picard facepalm picture, regardless of whether or not I can see it.
