Facebook, Amazon etc....

If you asked 30 years ago what Billionaire's need to do to get to where they were, the answer would be lots of fecked up things.

Nowadays, the amount of VC/Seed funding available to startups that can make some average guy with an average product into theoretical billionaires negate a lot of the need to do dirty things.

For example, Jack Dorsey in 2006 was just a software engineer earning a decent bob in California as most Software engineers at the time did.

Him and his mates come up with Twitter, and when the company literally only had 30 employees, he got VC funding which made him worth 800 million USD overnight, on paper.

Dorsey has turned a bit odd since then, but at that point, I'm not sure what "evil" he had to do to get to being a theoretical billionaire.

you make starting twitter sound like a piece of piss

It is because he does not want to piss off Trump and Musk. Lot of these capitalists are now lining up to make money off the Govt it seems.
Now I get why all these tech bro cnuts are shifting to the extreme right. It’s not just about the balance of power and changing as per the direction of wind, but a lower level of scrutiny, accountability, policing, rail guards etc and greater closeness to a authoritarian that favours oligarchs, is far more convenient for them. We went from lizard man Zuck being grilled by and apologising to congress, to this wannabe hipster who has suddenly achieved self discovery.

What’s funny about all of this is that Apple are coming across as the good guys who aren’t giving in to having to change their culture and policies.

Tim Cook also donated to Trump's inaugration. They, like Google, have not gone full Lex Luthor like Bezos and Zuckerberg but ultimately all of these corps are gonna do what is necessary to maintain their monopolies. It is especially pivotal moment for big tech since most if not all fear disruption due to advent of AI.

You could argue US based big tech corps have always benefited indirectly via Govt policies, I would argue it was still way less than corps from other sectors. But now they are lining up to take money off Govt similar to companies in third world countries, or at least use Trump's influence to push back against EU and others.

Wtf I use Instagram on a daily basis and nothing of that nature pops up on my reels. It's most just memes and snippets of random cooking recipes and restaurant recommendations. What did you search?
I didn't search for anything. I just clicked into the reel thing because a few post on reddit was talking about what's happening with the insta reels. Thought I'd check it out for myself. Maybe it was hacked. That shark attack will stay in my head for a while, never seen anything like it. It was like a scene Straight out of Jaws.

I've NEVER even heard of insta reels or even use the app. I regret looking it up now. Saw 2 women get killed point blank and a man getting eaten alive by a shark. So much for a good night's sleep. Fecking hell.
I mostly get Asia travel stuff, architecture, restaurants and people falling over, which is fair enough, though occasionally it randomly throws up a curveball like the last bad terrorist car attack that mowed loads of people down or some train hitting a car on a level crossing.

The Bezos' "note" is just brilliant. "Personal liberties are right for America", I'll censor some shit real quick and we'll be ready for the personal liberties.

You almost have to admire the brazenness.

Pretty sure Google have scrapped all their diversity stuff and dropped their pledge not to use AI to develop weapons.

You don’t search anything. Just watch any reel and swipe through them. Where it’s normally only stuff you’re interested in related to the kind of stuff you follow, now you get loads of this (or did yesterday. I haven’t been on today). I don’t know if it’s the same for everyone but it’s definitely affected a lot of people.

Yes I am aware. But still it is not a full Luthor turn ala Zuckerberg for now who has pretty much gone MAGA.

It's even mentioned in the newspaper here today. Said to be some sort of unwanted glitch but obviously I suspect they're just testing waters to make the world a notch worse.
