Fabregas

Is there anyone who's name they haven't shoehorned into that article?
Mine. It was an oversight though. I'm flying into Manchester tomorrow on a private jet under the name Chris Ronaldo so as not to arouse suspicion. Keep it under your hat.

So basically they threw a lot of assumptions and all our potential transfer interests into one bucket, mixed it through and out came this article. Great.
Clearly in the hope that one might come off.

Can you play in a midfield two etc etc?

Sorry but if we've decided to make this bid, why would we wait another week to put the bid in? So we can tie up Fellaini and Ronaldo (possibly literally)?

Exactly. "I want to triumph here". It's aspirational. He doesn't say "Even if the club accept a bid I'll be staying on". I've no doubt his first choice is to stay, but he hasn't closed the door at all.

Now this is a post fit for myself. I am liking the analyst in you.

Build it, he will come.

Game of cat and...twat, I guess. Whatever goes on here, goes on in less than official forms, obviously. We're making sure he's still willing to come if they're willing to let him go - and then we lodge the next one.

Ogden is treated like a prophet these days. I still say he knows very little about very little.

You make a fair point - he's treated with more respect after his Fergie scoop.

That said, United seem to be a lot more open with their press briefings now, so it wouldn't surprise me if favoured journos were receiving scraps of info from the club.

I smell bullshit

No sooner are the internationals over and the tabloids are making mischief

They're clearly just trying to keep it rolling until we reach the magic 300 pages!

If our aim was to sign nobody this summer then we've played an absolute blinder. ;)

Still think any signings will be made between Swansea and Chelsea games... Or not

Sounds like nonsense to me.

If (huge if) it is true that we're going to put down one more bid - might as well make it £45million or something like that... feck these poxy £4million incriments.

We'll put a £25m bid next, Barcelona won't know what hit them. We'll let them know that if they don't take it we'll be lowering each bid by £5m. In the end they'll have to sell hin to us for £10m.

I'd be amazed if this is true though... I've been utterly baffled by our approach (note: baffled, not embarrassed) by our approach/conduct in this whole saga... This would take it over the edge.

Baffled? You don't actually know what's going on, so your bafflement is easily explained. I'm baffled that you expect not to be baffled when nobody is actually telling you what is going on. Baffled is an odd word.

I know that we have publically announced our interest in him numerous times. It has been widely reported by enough credible sources that we have made two bids for the player - one of around 26m and one of around 30m. Sure I could choose not to believe any of this stuff and walk around in a state of bliss... but I'm choosing to accept that it is very likely these bids existed.

I can therefore be a bit baffled as to a) why we were so public in our pursuit - it pretty much renders anybody we approach after Fabregas as very definitive second choice- it's also a bit of departure from how we usually go about things and b) Why there wasn't much of an increase on the first bid which was qutie low to start with.

If you don't like baffled though, I can settle with confused...

If negotiations with other players began weeks ago it doesn't make them second choice. If you sign 3 players it doesn't mean you have an order of preference. It's all your own thoughts based on the fact the interest was public. We don't even really know the amounts. We are all more ignorant of what is happening that baffled surely?

True enough. I suppose it depends how much of what is reported you want to believe. For me it's after I read something thats reported consistantly in almosy every news outlet - but you're right, the amounts could indeed be different.

We'll be putting an equal amount of effort into all our active bids since I doubt that bidding for a player is a 24 hour job. The order of priority will probably not become evident until it comes to actually signing the contract and the club begins to delay at the last minute eg. like we did with Senna whilst chasing Hargreaves.

I love that we are still trying, especially after telling Fabregas we respect his decision to stay ^^

This is starting to get ridiculous if it's true, by this rate our 4th bid will be subsequently lower than our 3rd one.

I want to say that we must be confident that we can get him if we put in a third bid for him, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

To be fair, glowing rabbits with the jelly fish DNA would be pretty cool. Anybody know if we've actually put a bid in or is it just Twitter-nonsense?
Seems more ike Twitter nonsense. A lot more vague than the previous reportings.
