He was one of the few players to have a good game. As much as I love him, I don't like seeing his name in big games, you constantly get the feeling that he's going to get sent off. Although, he does have a cooler head than his brother, rarely gives away fouls when he's on a yellow.

For me only Fabio and Evra showed the fight and drive I expect from us when up against it, he was tireless box to box all day.

I'm quite happy seeing him in the big games now. He brings that natural enthusiasm from box to box. Defensively he was as good as the rest and he helped to carry our attacks, by himself if needed.

Good effort.

Determined, Tough, Explosive, Skilful.. this kid was excellent today, one of the few on that pitch who was willing to put his body on the line for the win. Him and Rafael really have the personality of typical United players.

Thought he did well today though they were getting more joy down our right side in the second half, particularly after Arshavin came on. I'd hope it doesn't become a case of picking one or the other at right back and that Fabio goes across to left back to allow Evra a rest more often next season.

I'd love to see him at right back next weekend. He's finally gotten his chance and taken it well.

His only mistake was in front of goal when he tried to set up Chico instead of shooting it between the keepers legs. Was a bit annoyed at the time he didnt do it tbh but oh well.

Love him and his bro. Great additions to our squad and have a great future for us (and great present as well)

I thought he was great today, dare I say he has been as good as Rafael in spite of having less experience. Hope we get to see them together on both flanks of defence at the same time sometime soon.

Nice to see him lasting 90 minutes now a days as well.

Both the twins still worry me with the amount of cards they pick up though.

I really don't know who is the better player. They both have equal strengths at right back.

Think Fabio likes getting into the box and is good at it. Rafael is probably the better crosser at this point. Defensively they seem equal. Still picking up too many cards, too eager and hence make too many rash challenges.

Mentioned it in the match day thread, but after today I'm starting to side with Scholesy in that Fabio should be moved up into our midfield.

I think he's got all it takes to become a top midfielder, and especially the fact that he seems ever so slightly more comfortable on the ball than his brother.

think i like rafael more for some reason.
both cracking tho.

I love the fact that so many people consider him to be first choice now, with most people calling for him to start against Barcelona. This guy will be the best in the world in whatever position he ends up.

Yeh, there's something about Fabio. Not quite sure what it is. Perhaps it is versatility, maybe it is just how much further ahead of his development he is than he should be, but he's going to become a very, very rich man's Owen Hargreaves at this rate.

I don't think he's necessarily been better than Rafael (it's very easy to forget just how fecking amazing Rafael has been at times this year), but he's had a fair bit of shite to put up with in terms of injuries. It's a credit to him that he's managed to get some game time despite having Patrice Evra to contend with for his supposed best position.

We are absolutely fecking sorted with these twins.

What i love about the twins is the commitement, that passion and that fire. Great to see and the rate at which they develop is incredible. Fabio might end up as a DM

They are both good, but for some reason I trust Fabio to make the right pass at the right time, his decision making is very good. His passes don't put anybody receiving it under pressure. I value this quality in a defender very much.

Indeed. He seems less cavalier than his sibling.

It's a bit of a risk/reward thing with these chaps. Both potentially great players but Rafael has more of the cavalier attacking play about him with the risk that he might leave us exposed or get sent off whereas Fabio seems pretty dependable all round.

I love em both but be intersting to see who SAF goes with in the CL Final (if either) as Fabio has really made a case for himself in recent performances.

Wasn't he (Fabio) originally supposed to be the most attacking one of the twins also??

I found it very interesting that Fabio rarely got forward today. It was something Rafael was doing much better in the first half of the season - picking and choosing the right times to attack and when to defend. He's gone back to being more rash and impulsive since then, but now Fabio has stepped up and was only getting forward at the right times today.

When they learn to get the right balance they're going to be incredibly good fullbacks for us.

Had a couple of loose moments today but overall was very disciplined and had a good game.

i think it was all SA's doing. wanted him to concentrate on defending. o'shea stayed put also. defending was a priority today. drogba was a non-factor, torres...lol
I'm sure it was SAF's instructions, but it was great that Fabio had the discipline to carry it through.

Actually, I thought there were a couple of times he probably should've been overlapping Valencia, but erring on the defensive side is definitely the way to do it while he's starting out.

Interesting to note that he sticked at the right even with Evra out and O'Shea playing, is he now considered a RB first than?

Though Fabio has played fewer times it's obvious he's more comfortable going forward than Rafael.

i don't see that but i won't disagree. to me they play pretty much like the twins they are. we've seen a lot less of fab than raf. i'll defer to your keener eye.

Not necessarily, I am sure it was tactics, he is much quicker, chelsea are much quicker on the right than the left and O'shea was going to be confortable with just Ivanovic and sometimes Kalou.

So I think it was a decision base on pace.

O'Shea has played at left back for us quite a bit, Fabio not in many especially none of this magnitude. As such I think SAF went with going what Fabio has played in the most recently for us, while sticking with Mr "Depenable" O'Shea on the left.

I think Rafael will be the defactor right back barring injury. We've seen the need to spell Evra and hopefully Fabio can get a few games out on the left to slowly start taking over from Evra.

Then again if he is converted to a utility player (Fabio) then he may not end up with one position. I hope that doesn't happen - a lot of talent to try and play jack-of-all, master of none role.

What Fab has shown to me was his willingness to try to get into the box and he's support to Valencia, remember the Westham game ? Got us a Pen... This game he could have gotten a better ball in we would have been ahead, its those smart runs when he sees the wingers going for Valencia, he'll just run into the space and get an opening, not to mention he has good pace and i thought he defended Malouda really well today, not being to rash and put his foot in at the right time. Still thought that at times his position is dodgy and he doesn't know what was going behind him.
