FA Youth Cup

Is Vose the one that was pinging the ball all over the pitch before my stream died?

West Ham miss a great opportunity to level but the cutback to the penalty spot is sliced wide by Leget (sp?).

Will Keane has had a very good half, leading the line well and holding the ball up.

About 10 mins.

Hall just had a half decent shout for a pen turned down, then we went the other end and Keane nearly scored a 2nd after clipping it over the keeper, only for him to recover to knock it out for a corner, then West Ham had a dangerous break where Fanimo's pull back was well blocked by Fornasier with a couple of West Ham players well placed in the box.

Should be a good finish.

Heart attack moment there. West Ham shout for a penalty. My initial reaction was ball to hand...

Replay shows it hit Fornasier's arm but it's about 5 yards away, I don't think he had a chance to move his arm. That said, he gained a clear advantage from it.

Get in.

Play the winners of Newcastle and Grimsby which is on Thursday the 27th in St. James' Park.

OK - I admit I'm biassed  but I still think we looked a mile better and a lot more talented than them.

West Ham claim a penalty for handball at the death after a shot is blocked, looks like it hit Fornasier's arm. It was point blank but his arm moved towards it and they are sometimes given.

1-0 FT

Will Keane, Larnell Cole (in the first half particularly) and Tom Thorpe outstanding and a good all round team performance to take us through a tricky tie, we defended very well on the whole and looked to take the game to them.

Grimsby or Newcastle at OT in the next round.

I thought that was a penalty.

United very unconvincing in the second half.

Just leaving, decent game. Cole looked top notch. Pogba was pissin about.
Meet up with his cousin as well Blackett's agent gonna try get an interview or something sorted (with Blackett). If we do I'll get some questions from in here

Do clubs sell tickets to these (given they're at big stadiums)?

Only at the gate. I went last night to Upton Park and it was only £3 for adults for the match, no actual tickets were given either. Good atmosphere I thought, I haven't watched the match back on TV but there were a fair few Man Utd fans on one side singing away especially in the first half, not sure if that came through or not. I was sitting amongst West Ham fans so politely clapped the whole way through hah.

A few players especially impressed me; I thought Tom Thorpe was superb at centre back. Really commanding, good on the ball and read the game very well for someone so young. Pogba and Tunnicliffe were as always top notch too, Pogba was showing off with some quality skills before the match. Will Keane was class too, always good when a striker can both create his own opportunities with very little and take advantage by goal-poaching - he has a silky touch on the ball.

Very good first half overall, dropped off in the second but it was good to keep a clean sheet and hold on for the victory.

No tickets...those slippery porn kings, Messers Gold and Sullivan... cash is always king and not so easily taxable.

I was at the game last night. Really enjoyable and great to see the lads in the flesh rather than MUTV.

Very impressed with Will Keane, Pogba, Thorpe, Fornasier, Cole and Tunnicliffe.

Less impressed with Michael Keane, Blackett and Van Velzen. However, they are young and it was only one game.

MOTM was certainly Pogba who controlled midfield.

Thorpe's reading of the game in excellent, but lacks a little pace.

Tunnicliffe is very driven, an all action midfielder who has an excellent turn of pace. He can handle himself against older players. Would be interesting it see him on loan.

Cole is very skillful, but very short.

Will Keane led the line very well and seems a little quicker than I thought he was. Very good control, be interested to see how he would do on loan in Div 1.

Johnstone is a nightmare on crosses - wants to come for everything. But he will learn when to and when not to.

Van Velzen has ability, but needs to bulk up. Think he lacks the pace to be a winger though.

Cofie has great pace off the mark. He was playing off Keane which is not his best position. Both players are best at leading the line and Cofie had a different role last night. Stuck at it, but found it difficult in the second half. Certainly had good workrate though.

Pogba wasn't taking it serious you could see it. Even his cousin was saying so. Tunnicliffe was all over the pitch and his energy and industry even at that level is impressive. Larnell is a quality little player but lacks strength, you can be small and have strength but he can be pushed about abit. He is quite skill full though I remember him getting knocked over once the ref blew he got up anyway and megged the player!

Blackett showed good and bad points, I saw him stand off one or two times and his reluctance to engage saw the ball knocked past him and then beaten as he had to turn.

Cofie disappointed me, I thought he wasn't in the game at all although he wasn't in his preferred role.

Van Velzen was OK, maybe because I expect so much more from him after him coming from Ajax and the noise about his actual move that I haven't been totally over awed by him but you can tell he has ability.

re Pogba if that's true then it's not a very good sign in such a tight game, shows a lack of professionalism. I thought he was a bit riled from some challenges he got early on, one criticism I would have if him is that he can lose concentration if he gets fouled a few times or thinks he's been wronged.

I thought one of West Hams main tactics was to double up on Pogba which actually allowed Tunnicliffe alot more freedom. As for Cole i dont think his size will be as much of an issue as I once did. I think Van Velzen just needs to get use to English football. The raw tools are certainly there. Could be a great player for us one day.

I don't think Tunnicliffe has an all-round game to match opponents at a higher level, at the moment at least, but his attitude is magnificent and he could well follow a similar line to Gary Neville or Keano with some luck. Pogba is ridiculously talented but I was disappointed with what I saw last night (about half the game), and thought he was lazy and sloppy for large parts.

Gyliano Van Velzen tweets: "Everyone thanx for supporting me.. But I know my game was bad!!!!"

well atleast he's honest :) He definately hasn't got up to the pace of the game here yet and will probably need a good bedding in period.

To me he was more the defensive midfielder which I don't think suits him at all. Tunnicliffe was the one breaking forward. I think Pogbas best when he's roaming but I think people in general are not being fair to west ham who pass the ball well.

There were a few early tackles and he may have been playing within himself with a slight knock, we don't know. I think that we definately have to give west ham credit for making it a tough game
