FA Youth Cup - Semi-Final - United v Wolverhampton

What's even more satisfying about this run is that a bunch of the players started off at United rather than at other clubs. Fredricson, Bennett, Oyedele, Mainoo, Mather, and Norkett all came directly through United with Mainoo being the best of the lot.

Only one player from our last Final ended up really being good enough to play for us - Pogba. I wonder if any of this group will.

Magnificent performance - we have 5-6 players out there who could be first team regulars in 2-3 years. The player who surprised me the most today was Gore - I have never seen him play better. Hansens first half, and Mainoos second half was close to a 10 for both
Yep. I only hope that whoever is our next manager will eventually give the lads a real shot with the first team. Happy to see them doing this well.

I really hope we get a trainer next season who believes in youth. Obviously all can't play at the same time but if we get enough experinced players in 3 or 4 of these cant get games next year on a regular basis

After Shoretire was Nathan Forson who actually came on...

Mainoo is just wow, infact they have four or five really good young players...
Omari Forson was who came on.

It was good to be there tonight to watch them up close and see how they adapted to the big pitch at OT.

Mainoo was outstanding, he looks big, powerful and most of all extremely intelligent. His list of limitations is minimal

Hansen was everywhere. Great movement and excellent use of tight spaces.

Mcneill showed off the ball movement and an all round game I wasn’t sure he had. I had considered him a box striker but he looks more than that.

Garnacho I thought showed some poor decision making at times showing the development he still needs but the talent came through.

Pogba looked absolutely head and shoulders better than any other player in that team. This side looks to have a much more even spread of talent, so you’d have to hope a better chance of more than one making the grade.

I'm not sure about that

I think Michael Keane would've made a lot of appearances for us if he had stayed. Lingard has also scored a winning goal in the FA Cup final for United. Harry Maguire also played in that final :nervous:

I do think you have to be realistic and accept that the number of absolute top players from any FA Youth Cup winning side is usually in the range of 0-1.

In more recent years City and Chelsea have been hoarding a lot of the best domestic players so you had one final where James, Guehi, Chalobah, Mount, Hudson Odoi, Gallagher, Foden and Sancho played.

I think the spread of talent is much more diverse at the moment but the players from the current youth setup don't have to become elite internationals to contribute to the team and qualify as successes.

Really good performance and all the lads played superb.

Kobbie Mainoo is just a class act and he's still only 16. This lad has big potential.

I had a friend over who wanted me to switch over to watch PSG and their stars Mbappe, Neymar, Messi and Veratti. I told him to forget that, and watch Mainoo, McNeill, Garnacho and Hansen.:D

Yesss <3

I wouldn’t say that. He looked bigger and more threatening when he was into it. Same as now pretty much but without the worldie goals. I personally thought Ravel looked like the best one until greenwood came along. How wrong I was

Gore excellent in the first half. Mainoo very good in the second half. Garnacho and McNeill great movement throughout.

Another good proper team performance. The scoreline a fair reflection of the game.

First FA Youth Cup Final for 11 years! Who made the grade from that team? LIngard, Pogba & Ravel Morrison (didn't actually make the grade really but should have).

I went to most of their games in that 2011 cup run.
Pogba and Morrison were exceptional at that age. I thought were dead certs...

Really enjoyed the match... the level of technical ability and composure in this group is so good. Lots of them have a chance to make it if they can do the hardest part and push on.

Mainoo just glides about the pitch and his decision making was excellent for a young lad. Hansen-Aeron also looked very good picking up great positions in threatening areas and was generally excellent on the ball.

I was in a pub and they fixed one TV for me to watch this game on!

I figure any highlights would already have been posted but I guess worth asking anyway.

Any highlights? Found it.

Just a thought on the upcoming youth fa cup semi final Forest v Chelsea. I was wondering what impact, if any, the current situation with Chelsea is going to have on their youth teams, and also (wrong thread I know) the women's teams.

That was a great performance, I really enjoyed it and made a nice change from watching the 1st team. Would recommend to watch

Mainoo , Garnacho and Isak Hansen all getting the plaudits but Daniel Gore was my pick especially in the first half…. He has exemplary footwork, vision from the few matches I have watched he hardly ever loses the ball. Seems to have gone unnoticed.

Cheers for making it easy for the lazy!

Hope the lads go on and win the thing. Might bring a tiny bit of joy around the club.

When is the final? I might take the kids.
Supposedly April but still ”tba”.

They were all good in the semi (it was nice to watch a United team with an attacking intent, organised, positive and working hard for each other), but a couple of notes….

Garnacho has been called into Argentinas preliminary WC squad… prelim admittedly but still.

And Mainoo is still not 17…. Amazing.

Warren Joyce Forest youth manager?! Wasn't aware of that.

Sold out? ... seems to be...
Odd? I get it’s the final and a lot of interest but Tickets only out today. App said…

”The exact date and kick-off time for the final will be communicated as soon as possible. The match will be played at our Old Trafford and supporters are welcome and encouraged to attend and support the team. Tickets will be available to purchase on Tuesday for £1, with all proceeds going to the Manchester United Foundation.”

Have they even released KO time etc?

Maybe not released as the don't have the KO time... hhhmm 30th April is the date of the game.

Was looking to take my kids to their first game.

Have I missed the opportunity to get a ticket for the final??

Have they sold all of the tickets or not?
