Does anyone think we can beat Fulham? Mid table side at home = certain defeat

One all draw after extra time, United to win the penalty shoot out.

Unfortunately think they'll get their revenge for 2023. Also we just beat Ipswich so winning 2 games in a row isn't something we do. Other than that game, you'd expect in most of other games that home team will go through.

With City being very beatable this season it's a great chance for clubs like Villa, Newcastle and Forest to win it. It's a shame we're this bad otherwise I'd back us to do it. But without Amad it all looks much more difficult. On the other hand, if we can somehow go through vs Fulham and get okay draw away from home in quarters, then let's see. We've been a good cup side last couple of seasons.

Yeah, I think you have been a cup team since Ten Hag joined. Relying on moments in games and moment games rather than league campaigns.

Yes we can, and I’d put us as slight favourites to win, personally. It might not feel like it, but we’ve won 7, drew 2, and lost 3 in 2025. One of the draws was Liverpool. One of the losses was Spurs were imo we were a bit unlucky. The first half performance vs Everton was terrible and the loss vs CP was particularly depressing, but overall results are picking up, if not necessarily overall performances.

Lucky touch for Rashford but another assist. He’s been Villa’s best player again tonight. Making a lot of right decisions (bar one awful miss!),

Asensio with another. He is a great pick up for Villa.

It’s a bit odd. I hadn’t realised he was playing until he scored the first. He’s had minimal involvement but his two finishes were lethal. Villa have got insane options for their front 4.

Frustrating to see Asensio doing so well.

I mentioned as soon as I saw the deal on deadline day that that looked a great piece of business and one I'd have liked to see us look at given how short we are going forward and for goal scorers.

Presumably the problem was again that they paid the usual loan fee for a player of that calibre? If only we started getting some of those ourselves when we loan players out - instead of giving them away free - then we might be able to afford paying them ourselves and getting the players instead of missing out on some good loan options.

I think he’d struggle a bit for us, certainly based on how he’s played so far. His main asset seems to be getting on the end of chances and finishing them. That’s a great skill to have but I feel our 10s currently need to be more dynamic and creative themselves - I’m not sure which of our wingers or forwards would be creating for him. The supply line at Villa is far above United’s currently (sadly).

I wonder if Esse gets some game time today against his old club - Millwall. Interested to see him a bit more.

That is awful. Looked terrible from the replay and looked bad enough in real time. You're going to seriously hurt somebody doing something like that, which is exactly what has happened. Horrific.
