FA Cup 24/25 | 5th round: 1st March

Shame about Exeter, could've been only League One team left in competition. This way it's 11 PL teams and 5 Championship teams left. Out of 5 Championship teams left, one (Burnley 3rd) from top half of the table, 4 from bottom half. Preston and Burnley facing each other so 1 Championship team guaranteed in quarterfinal. Perhaps one of those 2 could do a Coventry and get to semis.

Forest, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Villa, Brighton and Fulham all have best chance for a trophy in years given the state of United and City. We can be compact but are awful at home and City are far from unbeatable this year. Will be interesting. Bournemouth, Brighton and Fulham never won anything significant I think so even bigger motivation. Other 3 I mentioned obviously without trophies for decades.

Fa Cup probably lost some of it's magic but this season could be more interesting in that regard with couple of big sides going out early. There were only few upsets since Wimbledon won it in 1988 - Portsmouth in 08, Wigan in '13, Leicester in '21. Perhaps Everton in 1995? Also Leicester wasn't that much of an upset as other 3 mentioned.

The red card was a fair decision but it's a shame because Exeter were starting to look more likely to get the winner at that point. Great effort though especially considering they've been in dreadful form and had 2 CBs making their debuts.

What went well? You know I posted that after the shootout right?

Letting in all 5 doesn’t change the fact he’s saved a lot of penalties at youth level.
He's saved a few in league games this year as well, I think they were just well-taken penalties last night. He had a pretty good game overall but probably should have done better with the first goal, there's been a few too many of those across the season.
