F1 Qualifying (The new setup)

Think you are right. My fiancee is a F1 nut, loves Schmacher and Ferrari and even she, for the first time, got bored. I saw one of the sponsors was Accenture, a bloody accountant. Either accountants have got more exciting - which I doubt - or F1 has got too bloody safe and boring. An accountant! Maybe there's your answer there.
Accenture isn't an accounting firm but yeah I suppose that's besides the point. A few of my friends are absolute anoraks of the sport, yet even they would concede that F1's going down the drain.

F1 has been unwatchable for years.
Whilst I agree that the enjoyment facor has dropped since the days when Senna, Mansell and co ran the show, I wouldn't go as far as to say that its been completely unwatchable. sporadically, races have been enjoyable. Whilst they have not been the norm, there have been some.

However, I saw F1 reach new depths this weekend. :(

I love motorsport, but F1 all too often is a mere procession of monster money cars that hardly change position. I heard that Ferrari's engine budget alone for last season was 250 million quid! How can smaller teams compete with that? no wonder it's been a one horse race for so long.

For Formula One to be described as racing is deceptive...it's a procession, and is boring to watch as such. Maybe if the cars all had the same engine power output? Bit like with WRC rally cars. Didn't Alonso win from the front from the off in australia?

I think Max Mosely wants to do the best he can to save F1, but crikey...Bernie Eccleston just keeps knobbling the level playing field initiatives(being that he owns everything F1).

My favourite is watching MotoGP and Valentino Rossi. There's loads of dicing and wow is it exciting for that? YES. Maybe F1 can learn from that. Fingers crossed for sure.

For a start Fishichella won the race, but yeah he did start on pole and lead for the entire race other than during pits.

Thanks MB, I wasn't sure who'd won. Apathy has set in so 'snooze city' still pervades the result for me.:boring:

Another boring race! except for the massa/fisi fight. the rest was just :boring:
well these incident could not have happenned if tyre chage was allowed.

looks like everyone is conserving their tyre/engine instead of pushing for a win

hated the current setup and if this circus continue I would just stop.

anyway F1 is dead!

good for toyota after all the investment finally a podium finish.

Today just served to highlight the stupidity of the new rules. The qualifying is a joke because we dont even get to see the 2nd run anymore, so theres no real point in watching the 1st one. Might aswell just watch the race and see who starts from where. also the idea of 1 run with fuel and 1 without race fuel is stupid as it still largely comes down to fuel levels as to who gets pole. The tyre situation is ridiculous as was demonstrated by Raikonnen. By putting only 1 tyre on following the blow out, (although it was a used tyre) it will still no doubt have been out of ballance to the rest of the car. There was also a chance that the debris from the wrecked trye could have damaged another one of his tyres and caused another puncture (so why not let them but 4 scrubbed tyres on). As for the rule which says that during a tyre change, your not allowed to re-fuel or touch the car, thats stupid and dangerous as its serving to clog the pit lane up and completeley recks a drivers race, instead of them been able to manipulate the situation so that it doesnt cost them as much time overall.

One word: conservation.

Blundel:
"...was one of the best races of the last few years"

How on earth did he come up with that one? Does he really think the people watching F1 are that stupid?

I saw the first lap (my forst peek of F1 for a few years) and then turned the TV off and went to bed.
