Excellent, I am banned from viewing and posting in the general

We are sooooo laid back on here that you have to go some to get pulled up about anything.I dont have a prob with you and hate to see anyone get banned but there have to be some rules.
The ignore thing is useless if someone has spammed every thread.

First sensible post I've read.

I'll contribute when I want to, and when I do I don't count my posts, I generally go on posting and posting, if that constitutes 'spamming'.

I try to be nice but there are some people who are winding me up, making threads about me and so on.

But I'm suggesting that you take control of the problem by showing some restraint for a short time until things return to normal.

And you can't control what others do or say. So take your own advice and ignore them for a while and this will all fade away again.

Well obviously I can't reply to my slaggers now after I am banned from the general, where the abuse usually comes from

BTW Nate, why's your custom name is "Big and Gay"?

Why is yours (I'm only here for the post count)?

Someone thinks it was funny (26th May)

And a mod did as he asked and chaned it (Liz)

Cos obviously some people think I am only here for the post count and not for the love of United

Are we going to have a party tomorrow to celebrate Melvin's 10,000! ;)

do you have to have the last word on every subject?
Yes, it increases his post count.

And, inadvertibly, increases mine ;)

By the way, what has happened to RoD?

She seems to have disapeared, along with a couple of other posters.

She doesn't really come here anymore, people like Melvin made this place a bit shit and she can't be arsed now.

It's a bit unfair to blame everything on Melvin, next you'd be telling us Melvin is responsible for Liverpool's failure to beat Portsmouth. :smirk:

I've only been visiting this forum for a couple of months so Melvin probably hasn't had time to get under my skin, as it seems he has with the moderators and a few posters. However reading through this thread one does get the impression that the Melvin situation is so grave and serious that the end of the world is nigh. Without wanting to beliitle the efforts of the moderators this IS after all a football forum NOT the general assembly of the UN!
Moderators, I hardly ever use the smilies but if you are so concerned about people over using them why bother having them there as a user option in the first place? To be honest if you were being consistent there are several other posters who simply reply to a post by using one smilie. In my brief experince I have at least found Melvin to be courteous even when I wound him up a bit (in stark contrast to a couple of other posters, who I shall choose not to name now).
Also isn't it just part of the deal that internet forums attract differnet types - Melvin just happens to be shall we say a tad hyperactive - Is he really doing so much harm to this forum that it warrants coming down on him like a ton of bricks. You're going ruin his confidence before he exits puberty FFS let alone exits the front door of his house!

I don't think he really bugs any/many of the moderators. But we do have to deal with the endless complaints about him spamming.

But Mel posts up to (and some times more than) 100 times per day and when half or more of those are "exactly" or  then it does overwhelm the place.

In my brief experince I have at least found Melvin to be courteous even when I wound him up a bit (in stark contrast to a couple of other posters, who I shall choose not to name now).

Which is why he has been treated very leniently. He has been given a chance to chill out a bit and he seems to be doing so.

If Mel talks as much in real life as he does on here then a ton of bricks may be the only way to keep him quiet ;) And his confidence seems just fine to me.

If he was doing significant harm he would be banned. All we wanted was for him to chill out so that the anti-melvin bandwagon ran out of steam. Seems to be working IMO.

Thanks for the clarification Wibble. I guess taking the heat out of the anti-melvin bandwagon is a good reason to intervene. My only real concern was that posters may have been ganging up on the poor sucker. Perhaps some time out will solve this for him. In some ways I hope young Melvin finds some extra-internet intrerests. God I sound like a right old fart school teacher- I'm off now!

It's run out of steam because I haven't been able to post in the general Wibble!

Probably a good thing your still let post in here, helps with the withdrawl.

100 odd posts until 10,000. Do a deal with the mods that they'll let you back in only if you can manage to stay under 10,000 for the rest of February.

Why should I?

Do you not want to get allowed on?

Well.

Right.

Let me do a calculation now to seee how many posts should I make from now on.

From now on on average, if I was to be allowed back in, I have to post at most 14.91 posts a day.

Seems like a reasonable amount to me and probably way above your average posters daily count.
What do youse think mods?
