Evan Ndicka | signs for Roma

I don’t know why I get excited with signings like this since I’ve never watched/heard of him ever. But from reading abit about him, it’s a cheap price for a young player with a high ceiling and with hunger. Kind of like the players Fergie used to sign to build the base of his teams.

I know why I do personally:

1. Love the idea of finding young talents that can be had for cheaper instead of waiting for them to go to a bigger club and triple their value before we sniff around.

2. More signings like this mean we can freshen the squad up more with a larger number of new players.

3. I don’t have to worry about media pressure or stupid fans complaining if a player like this doesn’t get off to an immediate flying start.

Although it's fake news, I would hope the club have him on their radar. He looks destined to be a top player.

Before you’d be saying oh right it’s only Arsenal and Newcastle in for him, he mustn’t be all that so. The fact of the matter is Arsenal have caught up with us now and their recent recruitment is a lot tidier than ours. Newcastle with Dan Ashworth on board will be spotting better players for sure. Hopefully we really are bucking up behind the scenes. There are 20 million pound players out there who will become top players.

United should be all over this guy. Him and Badiashile are both amazing young French defenders, but Ndicka probably has an edge now due to Europa experience and amazing season in Bundesliga.

This guy and the LB Malacia look the most interesting players we've been linked with summer (other than Tchoumeni who is wanted by all).

Auxerre academy graduate, good technique and great build for a defender. Has been having a great season for Frankfurt this year. Strong, quick and good on the ball.

No idea about how he'd take to the PL but this combination of physical /athletic strength and calmness and intelligence on the ball is exactly the profile we need.

From what I have seen after watching pretty decent amount of BL games he is exactly the kind of player we should be going for. Young with a very high ceiling and a lot of potential.

29 mins into this game vs West Ham, and he’s looked very impressive.

Emphasising that I am basing this off 29 minutes.

Looks a beast this kid. I bet Murtough and our scouts have never fecking heard of him.

I'm going to say it; this guy is a player.

And I don't go around just saying things like that. Ask anyone who knows me and they'll say its a big deal that I said that.

Go on. I dare you. Ask someone who knows me.

Looks mighty. Very quick and strong in the tackle. A bit too eager to win the ball at all cost though, especially in non-threatening areas when it would be wise to engage in a foot race given his speed. But he can easily be taught that aspect of defending. The fundamentals are right. High ceiling.

Don't think Ashworth had started yet

Ndicka and Malacia for a reported €40m combined would be good business and a solid start to the transfer window.
How nice and refreshing is it to be linked with these under the radar, hidden gem types of players again…long may it continue.

Bild (first post in this thread) are linking us.
It was later shown to be fake.
Also Bild suck as a source. At least the LB fella was verified by a very well reputable Feyenoord source.

Eric Bailly joined the club when he was 21 yo, since then he never realized his potential if he had any

Victor Lindelöf joined the club when he was 22 yo, he started terribly but improved and became a mainstay in the heart of the defense but he isn't of the quality of a starting CB for a team aspiring to win titles.

On the other hand, Ruben Dias joined City 2020, he was only 22, and slotted into their team and performed in his debut season as the best defender in the league that season and was awarded PL player of the year.

All I'm saying is that you can't tell how these young CBs will do when they come to the PL, but what would help is coming into a settled team that has a clear style of play, see Konate in Liverpool he is only 22, he is doing relatively well in his debut season the PL.

Not sure if the club and ETH are considering a move for this young fella, but if that's the case, and he is good enough, then why not, could be an astute acquisition if the fee is below 20m.

Then blew the CL.

Imo he fits much better than Timber. Especially because of his height.

He looks a real talent.

From the players we've linked these appear exciting (ignoring FDK , Anthony and other big money ones)

Tyrrell Malacia
NDicka
Timber

I would like us to sign both, €50m would get you both players. Ndicka would be ideal as the left footed CH with pace that we need, he would be able to play the high line that ETH plays.
We will getting rid of Bailly, Jones, Tuanzebe and hopefully Wan Bisska which should create room to sign both players.

Timber is such as talented player could play multiple positions, similar to Kimmich for Bayern. I would like to see us give Laird a chance as the RB, he and Timber could share the duties.

Ndicka and Timber are both young talent players on the up, exactly what we need.

How is he on the ball?

I ask because his stats aren't overly impressive in that regard, only 61st percentile for pass completion, 37th percentile for progressive passes, 47th percentile for progressive carries, etc. And that seems rather essential in an ETH team.

Unlike most of the other names we've been linked with, it doesn't scream the City-style CB we need, but maybe there's a reason for that the stats aren't catching.

And, last point, they show hunger and give a different vibe to the dressing room
