Was watching this last night. As a Greek I loved watching everyone wonder how we did so well.
That was probably the most staggering part of the contest. Not too surprised Azerbaijan won, the song was alright and it was placed well in the running order. But that Greek song was absolutely awful. I was surprised enough it got out of the semi-final (which it turns out it actually won!), but seventh?! Whilst good songs like Switzerland, Estonia and Finland floundered it the bottom five. Bizzare.Was watching this last night. As a Greek I loved watching everyone wonder how we did so well.
I think musical taste comes into it a lot on a personal level, I really enjoyed Georgia's song, for example.
However, the thing is that the Greek song was based on the traditional Greek rhythm (Zeimpekiko) and it's similar to most Eastern Med music. Listen to the song again without the moronic rapping and listen out for the traditional beat. The singing part was really good in my opinion and in the opinions of others that I know from that part of the world (Bulgaria, etc)!
