European Super League 2.0 | Unify League

We've basically got the European Super league in the form if the new CL format.

Whoever did the rebranding must be fired, unify league sounds like a unisef charity project.

All for it. The free to watch and affordable subscription model is something everyone should get behind and get things like Sky to feck.

Sounds shit. But it'll happen eventually anyway.

96 teams gonna play in it  okay then

So less than the current UEFA competitions where we have 36 teams each in the UCL, UEL and UECL for a total of 108 clubs.

The amount of clubs definitely won't the biggest hurdle this shower of shite is going to face. Apart from maybe finding 96 clubs who want to be in it.

We know what we are
We know what we are
Champions of the Unify League
We know what we are

Minimum of 14 matches doesn't sound good, just leads to more filler games.

Says games are free but you can subscribe for minimal advertising. We'd need to know just how many ad breaks a game will have, how many resizing of the screen will happen. If it's every 10 mins we have a screen reduced in size while a commercial plays it won't be worth watching.

Feels like they just want to ride on PL popularity and go back to the corrupt days of Juve Madrid.

If they’re more serious about financial controls and things like FFP, they have my attention. Not saying it would be a yes, but I’d hear them out.

I doubt it though

Unification sounds better than Unify.

Unify sounds like a dodgy Singaporean sport channel you get the odd football stream from.

Anyone in favour of that needs to give their head a wobble.

Unify league!
Wonder how much they paid some fashionable marketing agency to come up with that
It's clearly so that this can be the theme tune:

U N I, F and Y,
We will win the Unify,
With a knick knack paddy whack
Give a dog a bone
UEFA won't you feck off home.

People keep repeating this but how exactly does the new format hurt smaller clubs? If anything it let's more smaller clubs qualify for playoffs.
It’s a bit harder to qualify into the 36-team league phase but once you are there it’s easier to add games and get into playoffs.

Smaller clubs have Europa League and now Conference League too where reward money is already very significant if you are a club from Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, not to mention teams from Iceland, Faroe, Bosnia, Albania and Ireland which are now realistically looking at playing in Europe up until March which would have been unthinkable before (as they’d have no games past early September). Reformatting of European competition over the last few years has been excellent.

Not giving the telegraph the traffic, anyone who actually read the proposal care to summarize it?

Yeah, the prices of football nowadays are criminal. Free football is something I can do.
I think it’s rather naive to believe this will actually be the case. The second this thing would be established, they would start to make money from subscriptions.

This is maybe the most reasonable format that the SL has managed to present. I actually don't hate it.

Having said that, the SL owners failed while making their first impression to the world of football, revealed their true colors too early and subsequently every new promotion and shiny ribbon they put on top of their product should be received with scepticism. Their end game isn't free broadcasting, fair competition, better opportunities for smaller clubs and leagues nor the general improvement of the sport.
