Europa Semi Finals

Would have liked to see Salzburg in the finals. Some crazy football they can play. Atlético-Marseille is not very appetizing.

The thing is that looked like a corner in real time, it could've hit either of the two opposing players in front of the guy who shot. It's the same as Alexander Arnold's handball last night, in real time it's near on impossible to sit what it hit since they were both right next to each other.

Denied by Technohead. The two bald refs but I doubt, anyone knows or remembers Technohead.

You don't call VAR for corner decisions.

Good to know. I thought I've seen that in the testing in the FA Cup but I guess not. The video ref seemed to be taking a look at everything.

Interesting thing to have this happen though. If a world cup final gets decided like this while VAR is in action then that would be quite a thing, especially under this clear and obvious emphasis. One look will tell you it's not a corner.

They watch everything, because you never know where a situation might lead, but the current rules don't allow for them to intervene on anything other than goals/penalties and sending offs.

VAR probably would've annulled the 2:0 for offside and given Marseille a rather obvious penalty.

Atletico are the most incredibly heroic team at being incredibly boring that have ever existed. They just keep doing it somehow. They do really need this trophy though, it's been a few seasons since they won something.

There are a lot of technicalities with VAR that are still far from being good enough and if things don't go right at the World Cup fans will 100% turn against it. Can you imagine the last minute of the WC final, a team has a penalty shout but on the counter their opponents score and win it. It goes to VAR, the ref calls the penalty, the goal gets invlidated and the result gets reversed.

If something big like that happens in a big game, VAR will get a big set back. I've been watching portuguese football with VAR all season and there are still loads of mistakes anyway.

If it takes a minute each time you have to keep it to the most important decisions like goals, pens and red cards. If it gets faster it could be extended to more situations.

Indeed, real lookalikes.

Atletico: UEFA Europe WIN 2010,2012 + Final 2018 and two Champions League Finals 2014 and 2016. That's quite impressive.

They really shouldn't be in this competition. How on earth didn't they beat Qarabag home or away? Chelsea no great shakes this season and they won 4-0 away.

Vitolo and Costa weren't around and several key players were underperforming, they've done very well after that terrible start of the season.

If everyone stays and they replace a few players they're going to be back fighting for the Champions League next season, especially with the final being at their own stadium.

Atletico is too strong for any team in Europa even Napoli i think

They are like the best defence in Europe and with Costa/ Griezmann/ Saul easy a top 5 in the attacking side. Even Partey is pretty good, what a progress when you remembered him doing all the end of the matchs in La liga. I was always saying something like: "Again, him ?".
And today he is a complete player of that team.

Today The attacks were so direct, the transition (offensive/defensive) were so fast. Arsenal wasn't close of that level, couldn't even make a good crossing. Plus, in that match, Costa and Griezmann seem sometimes greedy. They could be way more killer. Even Bayern wasn't that quick to create a chance (i know it was real).
Anyway it's so unlucky they botched the
Group stage

Cause Europa League is sooo easy to win.

Just because Jose made it look so easy, does not mean everyone can do it.

Yeah Jose, not Saint-Etienne, or Ajax. Like it was so easy against Celta
any didn't you talk about Emery ?

Partey was immense in both legs. ANd he looks to be very Jose like fullback. Pity that he recently signed an extension.

So long Arsene, the one and only specialist in failure. With all the praise he is constantly getting, his record in Europe is abysmal.

Atleti look strong to win the cup now. Going to be a familiar encounter in the Supercup vs. Real Madrid in the summer.

Tough one Salzburg - understandable that the players/coach didn't handle it well in the end. Usually you can say 'well let's do it again next season', but their teams is gonna get decimated in the summer transfer window.

Yeah thought the Simeone cycle was coming to an end when Real Madrid comfortably beat them in the CL last season but think this group of players minus Griezmann can have one more shot at the CL next season.

Seems like they're mostly just joking around tbh

I saw this the other day and it cracked me up. Chiringuito is simply too good
