Europa League 2018/19 | The Noble Wulf Edition

You've got to be kidding me, how the hell does this happen in Europe too?

Red after two yellows for protest for Zagreb because the ref has too much pride to understand the emotions of a high profile game.

3-0 for Benfica now too, game over. Insane strike by Grimaldo

Are you sure?

"
A maximum of five Premier League teams are eligible for UEFA Champions League qualification.

In the event that a Premier League club win the UEFA Champions League and another win the UEFA Europa League and neither club finish in the top four of the PL, the club lying fourth in the Premier League will drop into the UEFA Europa League group stage."

That doesn't tell us what happens if Spurs (for example) finish 5th and win the CL and no English club wins the EL.

I called it I knew Benfica would win 3-0 granted I was shocked it went to extra time. But it is an expected scoreline against Zagreb

The maximum of 5 Premier League teams will be in the Champions League. Notice after they say:

"Should a Premier League club win the UEFA Champions League they will automatically qualify for the group stage of next season’s competition regardless of their league finishing position."

that they don't say 4th place loses it's spot.

I shudder to think what Slavia Prague would have done to us if we played them under Jose.

Only in that case, mate. If 5th club wins CL then he takes 4th cl spot.

Don't know who looks worse, Kjaer or Franco Vasquez just sitting still outside of the box

Baffling decision.

I don’t know what was the surprise Zagreb went to extra time with Benfica. If anything they deserved to win by more than one last week against the other team.

I think we should have been more brave, Benfica was nothing special but we played a timid, flat game. Saying that we had a golden chance at 2:0 which we fluffed. And we missed 3 very important players.
All in all it was a brilliant, historic European season for Dinamo, we got through to the European elimination round first time since 1970.

I know. My surprise was that no one payed attention to their group stage results thinking Benfica would walk over them. Won’t be surprised if in a few years the younger players from Zagreb will play at the same level on stronger leagues than those from Benfica.

More than 4 teams from one country can only happen if one of those teams win the Europa League, otherwise it would feck up the entire qualification process, which is well established and planned ahead.

This happened with Tottenham and Chelsea. When Chelsea won the CL in 2012, Tottenham had to go to the Europa League despite finishing 4th, as Chelsea had finished 6th.

Yeah, young Spaniard Olmo is a big prospect, I wouldn't be surprised if he got sold this summer. And he could go to great heights in his career imo.

Thought some big decisions went Arsenal’s way last night which seem to have been overlooked.

Played well, but ref could have easily given a red card for Aubamayang in the first half

The rules have been changed since: from the 2015/16 season an association can have a maximum of five teams. That means the only way a fourth-placed team loses its spot is if both the CL and EL winners finish outside the top 4. Five teams can happen if a team outside the top four wins the CL.

Thanks, I stand corrected.
