Europa League 2018/19 | The Noble Wulf Edition

I understand now why people call L1 a farmers league. That's because they're farming the Liga and EPL clubs in Europe.

Unfortunately there's this non farmer L1 club that keeps wasting the stats. :nervous:
Forgot the tractor last night though.

Good result for us. Bad enough result that arsenal will have to play seriously next week with a full team, but not bad enough that they can just pack the Europa off to focus on the league

That Sarr fellow was perhaps the worst attacker on the pitch despite his goal. He cannot pass, doesn't know how to draw a defender out, cannot spot a through ball and is shit at crossing. Apart from that goal, he did nothing but blindly run with the ball all game. With a proper right winger, Arsenal would have conceded more given their abysmal defence down their left.

When was the last time a French team won anything relevant in Europe?

Even when passing it he made the wrong pass.

Twice. Marseille with the first edition of the CL in 93, and PSG with the Cup Winners Cup in 96.

No other French team has won either any version of the CL or the EL since the inception of European competitions.

To be fair, Ligue 1 isn’t a competitive or league full of quality. It’s not a farmer’s league but it doesn’t compare to La Liga, the Premier League, or even Serie A.

Michael Owen reckons a 2-1 win for Arsenal at home will get them through. Absolute mug.

Great game by Dinamo vs Benfica. Benfica had one proper chance all game and we could have won even by a higher margin.
Nice advantage for the return leg, I reckon we can nick a goal there.

What does this even mean

Big suprise by going this far already. I don't follow Dinamo a lot, but when you have been in the champions league you have been the easy win for big teams to get.

Pedro in really good form. All the big teams in the lead now. With so many upsets in europe already I guess it is time for some big teams to do the job.

Last few years we've been an embarrassment in Europe, setting up negative records and all but finally this year we're a proper team, no big stars but a team, mostly thanks to coach Bjelica who proved once again what wonders does a good coach makes. He knew what players he wanted, for what positions and which tactics and players believe in him.

Napoli 2-0. Can they go all the way this year?

Based on the odds Chelsea are the favorite to win it. Napoli and Arsenal second favorites. Although those odds would be before all games today. Also english teams tend to often be overrated in terms of the odds.

Could be on to a corker here - had Chelsea to win by 2 goals, Valencia to win by 2 goals and Napoli home win.

Valencia 2-0 up now.

You have missed much more...

French clubs were unbeatable in the Intertoto Cup :D:D:D

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Intertoto_Cup#Winners_by_nation

I was looking at versions of both CL and EL before posting and had indeed missed out on the third one, the Cup Winners Cup.

The UI Cup was by no means a major European trophy, though, and I hadn't missed it either. ;)

Edit: Along with the UI Cup, I've also not taken the EL2 into account. Also, this is only for the men's competitions. (Lyon seem to be the Real Madrid of the UEFA women's champions league, having won it 5 times out of 17)

Koulibaly is shocking sometimes, another let off for Napoli.
