Europa League 20/21

Didn't they have three first half injuries? I'm relying on information from a fully unbiased Duncan Castles.
They were dirt poor before the second and third injuries too to be fair. We made that game way harder than it should have been.

Reckon that goal will put Arsenal favourites and they will win, going to be a nervy final if we have to play them.

Theyre definitely not favourites. I think they’ll win too, but it’s more down to the pessimism of really not wanting to play them in the final, but they just got hammered and shouldn’t even be in the tie and they’re in dreadful form, especially at home, it’s a long stretch to say they’re favourites

It would depend on who's back for arsenal and how good Villarreal are withstanding pressure. But seeing how jammy Arsenal have been, I can't help but think they have luck too. Mind you, beating them in the final will be the sweetest feeling, there's always that.

Arsenal will reach the final. I honestly don't doubt it one bit. They seem to know how to get their way through these even though they struggle massively in the first leg of each tie.

United score 6 and batter Roma yet we are debating a foul on Cavani. .

Not the pen given against Pogba?

Never change Caf!

PS the Saka one is ridiculous. Absolute dive.

Indeed. I think I’ll be putting a bit of money on arsenal to win it to ease the blow if the worst happens:lol:

That dive for Arsenal's peno  How'd that get past VAR?

Arsenal would be more of a worry to play against because they've matched us in terms of fitness in the games we've played against them and you'd expect them to have their players back. Our quality should win though.

The last time i saw a team that had three first half injuries the opponent's coach said it was destroying their rhythm and made it harder for them. One of the best excuses Klopp made and the bar is really high!

That arsenal penalty was a complete dive.

Absolutely blatant.

The level of officiating in the Europa League is fecking dogshit

You sure are optimistic
What's there to be optimistic about ? Proof again tonight where we couldn't at least hold 30mn in a two legged European semi-final against a team composed of PL rejects managed by a guy we fired.
When you have a midfielder that thinks stamping on an ankle while on a yellow is a good idea, you're not going anywhere. We got insanely lucky with the penalty which to me insnt enough to be given.

There is still hope for the return leg if we find a way to score 2 or 3 because there is no universe where this team gets a 1-0 victory.

2-0 up and a man up. Villareal really should've killed the tie from that position.

The away goal is huge, I think Arsenal go through with that lifeline.

Must say the standard of refereeing in Europe is at a all time low but they're not helped by the theatrics of the players and iffy rules.

Yeah, think Arsenal will go though. Can see them blitzing through Villarreal.

I was just joking

Agree. And won't all the injured players be back for them for the second leg (Lacazette, Auba, Tierney, Luiz, Gabriel)? If it is the case then it's different team and can see them beating Villarreal who really made a mess of it tonight, 2-0 lead and your opponent's playing with 10 men and it still finished only 2-1 with Capoue suspended for second leg. Superb result for Arsenal.

Roma have suffered 7 muscular injuries in a week. Pedro, Calafiori, El Shaarawy, Veretout and Spinazzola out in the first 30 mins, Smalling and Diawara were both struggling physically in the 2nd half. Smalling recovered in time for the match, but he wasn't supposed to play 92 mins. 3 injuries in the first half on top of other absentees. No more subs allowed in the 2nd half. I've never seen anything like this. Also, "During the last 6 years there have been 20 ACL injuries, distributed between 16 players, at AS Roma. This is 833% of the expected number, which is 0.4 average ACL injuries per season (= 2.4 in 6 seasons)".

Their defensive record with Gabriel is awful, Tierney is our for the season, Auba is horribly out of form and Luiz is meeh. Only Lacazette is the key player there and Villareal are unbeaten in the competition with a 3 time EL winner as their manager. Do not underestimate Villarreal especially if they nick just one away goal

At which point do you burn the training pitches, fire the doctors and start over ?

Think we lost the title to City that day. They would've taken advantage of that situation.

United vs Arsenal and City vs Chelsea in the European finals. No doubt in my mind that it's going to go that way.

They sort of did that in 2019
They plowed and resodded all the training fields, got a new athletic director and new nutrition staff

Gdansk, Polski although pending on that with what is happening currently. Sure @Sarni will have more on that.

Great city at the seaside. Highly recommended to visit even if you can’t get to the game. As for restrictions, they’ve announced 25% of stadium capacity after May 25 here, so exactly for the day of the game. Stadium can accommodate 40k so there should be 10k tickets available. By that time restaurants will be half full too and masks will not be required outside. I don’t think there’s going to be any issues with travel either, tests etc not required.

Gotta say, it's a bit funny seeing people claim that the tackle on Cavani wasn't a penalty. Is it because you think Smalling tackling Cavani after the ball was gone isn't a foul, or is it because you just don't understand the laws of the game?

A foul in the box is a penalty every time, no matter where on the pitch the ball is. As long as it's in play, if someone gets fouled in their opponents penalty area, it's a penalty.

9,500 will be allowed to attend the up coming Europa league final in Gdansk. 25 per cent of the capacity, with both finalists receiving 2,000 tickets each and 2,000 tickets to be offered to the general public.

The remaining tickets will be allocated to the local organising committee, UEFA and national associations, commercial partners and broadcasters.

I am sorry to say United fans that your tie should be called on a mercy rule, so I will watch to see if Villarreal can pull the upset.

The Arsenal game is boring so far. Chukwueze has been stretchered off for Villlareal so he looks set to miss the final should they make it.
