ETH: "We need new players and quality players. We will try and convince them to join." | Mirror: ETH believes FDJ will join Utd over Chelsea

He is motm only because our defense is shit. There's something wrong with the team if the GK wins player of the season year after year.

Our Defence Is not good because De Gea is shit.

So let’s say if £150m is legit. Our net spend this summer so far is £50m. £100m will allow us to get Rabiot and De Jong which I would be happy to run our season with those two in midfield. And hopefully we can sell some players to get new keeper. And if we are lucky, new right back (probably won’t get new right back this summer). Not lot of good right back available in the market in good price.

Attackers are not necessary for this summer imo, we can hold it for next year unless if Ronaldo leaves then we need to find replacement. We can play Bruno wide or even push Eriksen wide as emergency option.

I'd like to think the feckwit Glazers have now added another £50m to that transfer kitty.

I dont get the turning on Degea, he has one bad game and suddenly he is useless.. really… he was motm game after game last season and being heralded as a hero who kept us in many games. He definitely is one of a few id keep.

David de Gea has been not good enough for a number of years, his purple patch of a month at the start of last season doesn't change that.

It’s so idiotically, short-sighted kneejerkism. Probably the same people expect to win the league first season.
Who are these people? Please quote to me someone who wrote that they expect us to win the league this season.

Completely rebuilding a team in the opposite direction every 3 years is expensive, especially when the willingness to do so properly just isn't there.
This one sentence basicly sums up all United's problems and mismanagement. The sentiment on this forum also speaks volume. People are not behind a rebuilding process but just want short term success. Of course losing to Brighton and Brentford is hard to take and the first half yesterday was absolutely disgraceful. When you're in a complete rebuild and transition towards a new playing style, this is something that can happen. Especially if players start making huge mistakes (like DDG in the first goal). Of course it was painful yesterday, but if this club is in dramatic need for a total rebuild and those who are not patient enough to live through it don't deserve new success either.

Conte demands high standards which is why he was never the first choice for us despite clearly being the best candidate

High standards and very vocal if he doesn’t get what he wants, basically the Glazer’s worst nightmare.

How many can you sign realistically?

It's o.k saying new CBs but even if you discount Jones and Bailey you currently have all of Maguire, Varane, Martinez and Lindelof as four experienced defenders. No good wanting rid of Maguire when he's retained captaincy under this manager.

Could shift Martinez to DM but then you want a new signing in that position anyway.

No good adding another wide forward when you've already got several you really need to shift out, Rashford desperately needs a fresh start so you probably need to be telling him they'll be no new contract and pursue the PSG interest tbh.

Feels like another transfer window you've botched despite getting Ten Haag in place in May. One area you do desperately need upgrade is full backs but that's dependant on loaning out Wan Bisaaka unless you're just going to cut him from 25 man premier league squad.

Yeah Rashford out and Hakimi in, while we are at it go and get another of their players too

This. All the talk about how we still have time is absolute nonsense. Business should have been done the moment we got ETH. We had an attractive project to sell. Now we are desperate to a point any proper player will think twice before even considering joining us. Not to mention the fact every fecking club in the world knows how desperate we are and will fleece us. But that's the price you pay for waiting and waiting and waiting and doing feck all for two months
I can't tell you hw many people here abused me back in June, telling me I didn't know how business and negotiating works. Well, now I know: feck it up royally, do nothing for your salary and end up paying more

To be honest Murthough seems a complete amateur so the problem is who actually appointed that guy?

He and Arnold should be sacked in the morning and we should try to convince Edwin VdS that everything is fine and come join us! But then I said when Woodentop said he was leaving

Appointing amateur or unqualified people for certain positions is the only thing we have done best at this club for many years now. I have a feeling that the club hired these guys because they didn't want to pay top salaries. Firing chef scouts without replacing them, hiring RR in the way and the position they did, etc., gave you hints that these guys are different but still unqualified people to run this club.

Who knows what kind of cheap scouts they will hire as chief scouts if or when we do hire them?

Director of Football incoming... in about 2029. just look at the amazing job Paratici is doing at Spurs

We definitely need quality to come in but in some cases we had better options already in the squad and loaned them out, Henderson for me is a better all round keeper than De Gea as far as a modern keeper is concerned and Laird is a better option for how ETH wants to play that either Dalot or AWB.

We hear this talk that we want players comfortable on the ball and who can progress from the back yet McTominay and Fred start whilst Garner, Mejbri and Zidane aren’t included or tried, I know they’re young BUT if they are closer in style to what ETH wants then use them instead of players who whilst more established CAN’T play how ETH wants.

As much as I blame the board and in particular the Glazer’s it’s on ETH for the fact we have a 5ft 9inch centre back being targeted by the oppposition when Martinez was until he went to Ajax a defensive midfielder, in fact Martinez IS exactly the type of midfielder we’ve been screaming out for years for as he is high stamina and high pressing with ball winning quality but can also pass brilliantly too.

We know that Ronaldo is never going to fit into an ETH system and we know De Gea is NOT an ETH keeper yet because they’re on a combined £1 million a week roughly in wages they play, is it pressure from the board because they’re high earners that can’t be on the bench ? Who knows but they’re never going to be the answer with an ETH team.

If we manage to bring in De Jong and Rabiot then that’s good although I’d rather De Jong and Martinez in midfield with Varane and Maguire but Maguire playing as the furthest defender back to protect his lack of pace. I’d be all over trying to sign Depay so we have a fluid interchangeable attack instead of a static Ronaldo and I’d also ask Chelsea about a loan for Ziyech too.

I can’t think of one person who thought Arnold was the answer back when Woodward announced his departure. He was so obviously Woody mark 2, there just to make the Glazers money and let the football side of things slide.

The bullshit about turning over a new leaf and leaving football related matters to Murtough (another yes man, also not rated by anyone outside of Ed/Glazers) was PR. I’d love both to be sacked but who would actually do that from the board perspective?

actually a lot of people here said it was a new era and give him time etc etc. So obviously a Woodward mini-me but they wouldn't have it. i was told I was being far too negative and I think one person accuse me of hating the club

agreed. never dominates the area, can't believe he instils confidence in defenders. very poor on an all-round level and not brave enough. and now seems he can't stop shots either. And to the person who asked the question why turn on DDG now, I've never rated him that highly. Not even in the top three United keepers of all time, in my opinion

No manager walks in and says team are shite I’m ripping it up and starting again. He’s trotted out the usual cliches, don’t believe he was happy with squad but to what extent is anyone’s guess.

I’ve no doubt he’s made a lot of mistakes, been given terrible advice by club and made some misplaced assumptions (like team finished 2nd recently so can’t be that bad).

He’s probably now at stage of realising he needs a total rebuild but doesn’t have time or money and it’s completely at odds with what the club want to do. He’s in trouble.
Let me rebut you point by point.
1. No manager walks in a says team is shite - Yes there is. Example 1.Ralf Rangnick, 2. Pep Guardiola, 3.To a lesser extent Klopp and Mou. Prevented to say they are shite, probably. But if that is so, why unleash his tongue now?
2. You really believe he's stupid enough to believe or continue to make such misplaced assumptions, really? I have a bridge I'm trying to sell by the way. Assumption is that there is about 20million worth of steel, and only costs 1million to extract. Or I could introduce you to my Nigerian prince. Anyone, anyone really can already see the sad sad state that our players are in, based on last season.
3. So back to my original post which you quoted. What the heck was he doing for the last 4 months, with 1.5 under preseason and training daily?

At least we agree he's in trouble. I still don't understand how on earth does a champion walk into a landmine like this, except for having KNOWN its a landmine, but you will get paid handsomely and just need to pretend like Ted Lasso. (Remember Ted was not paid well, unlike Erik).

This brings me to the last point - HE convinced MUFC to allow him to take the reigns. HE convinced the management that those shite players are actually good. HE SANG the most beautiful hymn to the Glazers - ye shall not spend, ye shall receive!. HE convinced MUFC that there is this wonder boy whom he knows closely like a brother, daily in conversation and will the only piece of puzzle we need to purchase. He convinced MUFC that said wonderboy is easily signable. HE CONVINCED US OF EVERYTHING. HE CONVINCED US OF THE BRIDGE. Now, wake up!

Not much of a rebuttal, fell at first hurdle. Rangnick’s initial comments were squad was good enough to compete, few months later he said squad needed open heart surgery.

EtH is at fault too because he wanted FDJ at all costs and we're still waiting.
We could have bought other players who then went elsewhere.
He doesn't know how to set his team against other teams who press us from the start and ALL teams will do this each and every game - Brentford players said it themselves and Brighton did it too.

It’s career suicide joining United. No player with any ounce of self-respect will do it. Sad but true.

Yeah but where does that trend end ? At some point we got to turn that around. Glazers aren’t going anywhere so it’s got to be with ETH.

Not sure what quality will come to a struggling team like ours. Can we really attract players? We are terrible in the transfer market. We wanted koulibaly for years, we ended up signing maguire and martinez (early to judge him but the signs are not good).

we need quality players, yes, but we also need to lift the players’ morale on the pitch. Just watched Chelsea vs Tottenham, the difference in the tempo is very obvious. Players run, push, tackle, commit and even fight for the ball. What do our players do? Walk around the pitch and throw their hands in the air when they lose the ball. We are now a team with no spirit, no chemistry, no morale. We have hit rock bottom (or maybe we will really hit rock bottom against liverpool next week). Players need to pull their shite together and fight for the badge. They are not elite players, far from ones, but there is no justification for not giving their best on the pitch. Squad harmony is important, we need to get that, even if it means letting ronaldo go

True. And the only way around it is to start winning again consistently and proving that the project at United is worth committing to.

The alarm bells started ringing when Ten Hag said the team is good since it finished 2nd during 20/21 season. When Ten Hag says that Maguire is a world class defender and his assistant says that Mctominay is 8/10 every game, you know its only going to end one way. Nonetheless, we all know its the players and the owners. If Ten Hag can’t help this club, we are finished. We can’t let him fail. Back the manager. Put the pressure on the owners.

And there should have been a fec***g riot for letting Rangnick go for being honest and saying Utd need 10 players.

Shit fell apart when Ronaldo came back. You guys don’t realise how toxic he is. Terminate his contract. Put the saved wages towards a forward.

Maybe I’m picking you up wrong. Are you advocating ETH out already?
