Erling Haaland / signs for Dortmund

Things are bad but to say United won't get into the Champions League for another 5-6 years?!? We're currently 5 points outside the top 4. We're not Brighton.

I'm ignoring those type of posts, are those other teams fans? Pretty obvious we're heading in the right direction and will be playing CL football in the next two years max. We're a very unique proposition to a player like Haaland, this transfer just makes so much sense for both parties.

 Yeah, as if he’s going to pick an average team playing on a Thursday night over top teams fighting it out for the Champions League... and we won’t get into that competition for at least another 5-6 years.

The club is in the pits at the moment, have you seen the state of the stadium up close? It’s an absolute disgrace for the “biggest club in the world”. They’ve added a lick of paint in the tunnel so it doesn’t look so bad on Tunnel Cam for YouTube, but that’s about it!

Delusional bunch.
 Drama queen

I am more and more becoming conviced that Martial is not capable of leading the line as our main striker, akin to a RVN etc... he is just too inconsistent, even when the team is playing well he looks off, don't get me wrong he is clearly a talented player but if we are progressing we need a proper striker that can be relied on, is Haaland that player??? I do not know but if we are going to take punts and risks on players like Haaland now is the time because in a few years when we are back at the top if the tree, we won't have the same luxury of being able to absorb losses and draws.

I know we have Greenwood, but like Rashford I think he struggles as a no.9 he seems better slightly wide.

I see GE is still crying in here.
Really? I see other users crying. Crying, not arguing. And it seems they will cry another time when Haaland don't come to United, which could happen.

Considering Haaland's dad ended Keane's career I can't see this happening. Keane would never let it happen.

Then Ed Woodward called me up asking me to sign for Manchester United.
"No," I said.
Take that you cnut.

Watched Haaland in a few games. He looks like a really good prospect, though I’m not really a fan of players with average technique. I wouldn’t spend £80m on him if it was my money. Reminds me of Lukaku in that aspect, granted Lukaku is even worse.

I doubt he’s going to come to United. This seems like De Ligt saga, vol2.

I’d actually prefer if United went after Bruno Petkovic instead of Haaland. Similiar type of CF with excellent first touch, strong, very good hold up play, extremly good in the air and a decent finisher. He’s at a right age as well (26ish I think) and wouldn’t cost fricking £80m.
But I understand that he’s not “this weeks favorite wonderkid” so I do apologize.

I expect he'll go somewhere where he'll be first choice starter which he wouldn't be here yet.

Signing him will almost completely depend on the cost. From the clubs perspective it could be a no brainer signing for anything in the 50-55 million range, though anything above that and the money folks will no doubt push for alternatives. Especially given that we have more pressing needs on the RW and in midfield

Can someone clarify.... some posters saying he has a 20 odd mill release clause, others saying he will cost 80 mill.

Which is it?

I'm sorry, but Bruno Petkovic is not our guy. He is a big guy, but not even slightly similar player type. He's 25 and has scored 3 in 12 matches in a weaker league than the Austrian this season (9 in 25 last season). Despite playing in Italy his entire career before Zagreb he never scored a single goal in serie A in 42 apperances, and was sold for peanuts (1M Euro) to Zagreb this winter. Haaland has scored more goals since May than this 25 year old has scored in his entire career. Are you sure that's the guy you really want to strenghten us up front?

The usual contrary post. You love trolling me don’t you?

If you think he’s Messi or Ronaldo, you have some serious problems

To be honest, I actually didn't realise it was you.

No, I do not think he is that level but it isnt black and white which players get burnt out, it is to do with how they are built.

We have seen alot of players mainly English players being burnt out like Rooney, Wallcot etc but there have been robust players too.

That could be said about Rashford too? he has been playing regularly for a while now.

Freund always says that Erling has no clause. But I think they have an agreement with the Haalands to let Erling go for the right price, probably about 30 millions.

But Salzburg want to climb up the pecking order and start selling to the big clubs like Ajax and Porto do. Taki to Liverpool should be the first step into the right direction. Selling Erling to Leipzig or Dortmund would be a step backwards. Great teams, probably good fits for Erling but you cant compare them to clubs like Liverpool, City, Barca, Juve, Real and United. Once a club starts selling regularly to these big clubs like Porto or Ajax, it will become easier to sign great talent and sell it for millions. Salzburg showed that they can develop talent with Mane, Kaita, Lainer, Wolf, Schlager Upamecano,.... Now it is time to develop talent for the big teams and Erling is such a talent. Selling him not to the highest level would be the wrong.

I’m not married to the idea, but considering we have some excellent young talent I would bring in that type of player. Someone who’s pricetag isn’t gonna take up most of our budget.
Someone useful in some games and a good/different plan B in games we’re chasing. For a few seasons untill Greenwood matures. Getting another wonderkid is exciting, but I’m not sure how wise it would be to have such a young foward line. Especially “big price tag pressure” teenager for such a big club in repair.
But also, Petkovic is a kind of striker who isn’t just/all about scoring. He makes space and time for others. I’ve watched him quite a lot and I was impressed.

I think he'd be behind Martial in the pecking order. Not the biggest obstacle to overcome I just expect he'll take an easier option.

Initially for the first couple of games maybe, but I don't see Ole leaving Haaland out of the starting XI for much longer.

Or maybe I'm wrong :wenger:

He will either go to Juventus or one of the German clubs, I don't think we will ever get a player with Mino Raiola on the other side.
His representative agents are still his father and his uncle. Raiola is just his uncle friend who help them to negotiate with RBS.
He might be fall to Raoila's agency in the future but right now please don't buy any story about Raiola will decide his future club.
