The thing about this one is that we need to act fast. Ideally we should get him in January, but there is zero chance he is playing in Austria next year considering the waves he is making so if say City, Barcelona, Bayern or Real Madrid snap him up before us we might as well forget about him because there is no way they are going to resell him if he actually lives up to his potential

This is an internet myth. Haaland was not even injured in the Keane tackle. He retired do to an injury in his other leg a few years later.
Alf Inge Haaland has already commented publicly that it would be nice if his son joined Manchester United, so that's a non issue. OGS and Haaland are friends outside of football, and OGS is the one that recruited Erling Haaland to elite football in the first place.

I understand that but we just look like we are on the crusp of something great with Rashford, Martial and James but if he is a potential once in a generation talent then we truly need to act as he could be the player that leads our revival in the way Mane and Salah have done for that lot.

Haha, go back to old school and have more than one quality player per position, City manage it well.

Haaland a big CF, good thing is you could play a 2 up front, you could have Rash/Martial behind him running in behind, play them 3 with a 3 at the back, so many options plus good options from the bench, bring it on!
Not going to compete on all fronts with just one top class striker (Martial), he can't do it all on his own, get Haaland in asap

This would be a great signing, no doubt but the only niggling issue would be the lack of a senior stronger in the team. Assuming haaland takes his own sweet time to adapt to the league, can we rely on rashford and martial to keep the goals coming.
Perhaps the arrival of Mandzukic on say 1.5 year contract would be great to provide an experienced presence on the field.

The thing is back in the day we had players content with squad roles - Sheringham in his early thirties, Solskjaer and then the likes of Forlan. You have players where it's obvious they're not going to start week in week out because there's a drop in quality between them and those who are in the team week in week out (see Jesus and Mahrez at City, Origi at Liverpool etc etc)
I'm all for upgrading players if they're not good enough but it's hard to believe Martial would stick around if he's not assured of a spot in the starting XI so if we were to sign Haaland we'd be doing so either for him to be first choice or him to back up and given the prices being quoted I doubt it would be the latter
See not sure where this comes from now, how can you have one top striker and expect him to play 50/60 games, what happens if he gets injured like he was for this season for two months, you write off that season that title challenge and hope you go through the next season injury free so you can have a crack at the title?
Mahrez has been moaning yes but he has been pretty terrible whenever he has played, Jesus gets loads of game time same with Origi, don't hear them moaning to much.
If a player moans and cries over a bit of competition then that is a weakness on him not the club. Playing with one top player in each position is absolutely crazy, Pogba out for 2/3 months and we have Lingard/Pereira as replacements, find oursleves what 25 points odd from top spot in November due to injuries and having no top class replacements and we want to do this going forward because it might upset someone he has competition haha do me a favour

If you buy Haaland our attack is still dependent on Martial. If Martial is injured the attack is impotent. It's far more important to buy a similar striker to cover for Martial in the League and play in the cups.
He did, but he was very young then (still is) and perhaps he just wants to get an update or some opinions on how some aspects of Haaland's game have developed since then. You would hope this is the same player that Ole had in Norway. So yes he'll know a lot about him and his potential, but he'll still need reports on how his game has come along since then.
Well he's a youngster, so almost the most important thing is that he is continuing to develop at a good pace.

The situation with Pogba is different though, we'd be fine if he were to be out for a long period of time if it weren't for the fact that he's our only creative player in the starting XI. We should have an XI where creativity can come from 2 or 3 players not just the 1. Ideally if we're to persist with the 4231 then Pogba would provide creativity from the no 6, we'd have a top class no 10 in front of him and a top class winger

You play Pogba as a number 6 and we would get absolute destroyed, could you imagine midfield runners from City etc they would have a field day with Pogba as a 6. Yes I get that he is our only creative midfielder, are we allowed to buy another top midfielder so we have options or is this not allowed as it may upset Pogba?

His point is fair one. Usually you don't see a team with many ''equal options'. There tends to be a pecking order and a composition based on age, reputation etc. For example Mata works as a squad player because he's of a certain age. Lingard works as a squad player because his reputation is not that high.
So if we sign, let's say, Haaland and Sancho we'd have the following young stars who would all want and possibly expect to start
Rashford
Martial
James
Sancho
Halaand
Now if Halaand is genuinely top striker material (in a few years) I would sign him regardless in the hope that either he or James would accept being second choice/rotational for a year or two. But I think the point that these things have to be considered is correct.
