£££So if we dont sign him, you think that will be down to Woodward? Why would he not support the signing?
That's good. Our scouts are just proper shite.Just read the Athletic article. Basically saying that Ole has Simon Wells(Ole's personal scout) to scout him inspite of us having already scouts in Austria.
I like the thought of signing one of Europe's best prospects and he has done well in Austria but when looking at what we need from another perspective and what we already have in the team I would have though signing a DM or a #10 would transform the side more. We now look like we have a settled forward line in Rashford - Martial - James so buying another expensive #9 will bring more issues than it solves: do we move to a classic 4-4-2, do we drop Martial or does the new signing come in as back up. For it would be counterproductive to disrupt what is beginning to look like a potent front three, I think we are better served looking for a back up striker and starting #10 in the winter window.
If we already had a settled and creative midfield behind them strikers I would understand bringing in more competition but we need to prioritize our signings but if the club felt that he was a potential generational talent then lets go for it.
This is an internet myth. Haaland was not even injured in the Keane tackle. He retired do to an injury in his other leg a few years later. He answered some questions on TV2 Sporten instagram. Some off them were:
1. Who is youre role model: Zlatan
2. Is it a dream for you to play for Leeds, like your dad: No comment
3. Could you have played for Man United even though Roy Keane ruined his dads career: No comment.
That face when he answered those questions :-P
Main issue with him coming here would be what happened to his dad with roy Keane. In fact his goal in life is to avenge this.
Shouldn't Ole already know all about him? He did manage him for 2 years after all.
Yes, it was a bad tackle but that tackle didn't end his career as Haaland himself said.
I understand that but we just look like we are on the crusp of something great with Rashford, Martial and James but if he is a potential once in a generation talent then we truly need to act as he could be the player that leads our revival in the way Mane and Salah have done for that lot.The thing about this one is that we need to act fast. Ideally we should get him in January, but there is zero chance he is playing in Austria next year considering the waves he is making so if say City, Barcelona, Bayern or Real Madrid snap him up before us we might as well forget about him because there is no way they are going to resell him if he actually lives up to his potential
Question. Would he be available to play in the thursday league with us after he already played CL-football with Salzburg?

Looking at it from that way it makes perfect sense.Yeah they look like they are really onto something, think we still need a few more bodies, need to get like City where they chop and change and just keep the same standard.
If we could nab him and another RW, get rid of Mata/Lingard a front three with the options of say Martial Rashford James Haaland Greenwood and Ziyech, that is an attack for the next 10 years.
Would get my vote anyhow haha
Too right. Great player he was but that was shamefulTo be fair, it was assault, not a tackle.
Real Boy Scout jamboree going on thenJust read the Athletic article. Basically saying that Ole has Simon Wells(Ole's personal scout) to scout him inspite of us having already scouts in Austria.

Morten Pedersen only really writes opinion-pieces. I'd ignore him.Was reported yesterday. The article was written by Morten Pedersen, chief sports writer at Dagbladet - Norway's second largest newspaper. He claims that a well-informed source has said United has submitted an offer. Seems more like to Haaland via intermediaries rather than to RBS. Like I wrote yesterday, Norwegian papers rarely do this, especially not the the chief sports writers. So he probably has a source close to Ole or the player (wouldn't be shocked if it's Jim Solbakken). Or it could be a case of him trying to achieve 15 mins of international fame - after all he's the most annoying sports writer in the country. But most likely legit.

Retweeted by Pornstein. It's on.
Didn't Ole have him at Molde? Not sure what would be gained by just sending someone to watch him at this point?
Another question would be where does he play? How do you fit him, Martial, Rashford, James and Sancho all in the same attack?
Molde FK manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær after the game compared Håland style of play to Romelu Lukaku and revealed the club had rejected several bids for Håland from different clubs.[9]
Haha, go back to old school and have more than one quality player per position, City manage it well.
An attack of Rashford Martial James Greenwood Haaland and Sancho/Ziyech, yes please next ten years sorted!
Haaland a big CF, good thing is you could play a 2 up front, you could have Rash/Martial behind him running in behind, play them 3 with a 3 at the back, so many options plus good options from the bench, bring it on!
Not going to compete on all fronts with just one top class striker (Martial), he can't do it all on his own, get Haaland in asap
The thing is back in the day we had players content with squad roles - Sheringham in his early thirties, Solskjaer and then the likes of Forlan. You have players where it's obvious they're not going to start week in week out because there's a drop in quality between them and those who are in the team week in week out (see Jesus and Mahrez at City, Origi at Liverpool etc etc)
I'm all for upgrading players if they're not good enough but it's hard to believe Martial would stick around if he's not assured of a spot in the starting XI so if we were to sign Haaland we'd be doing so either for him to be first choice or him to back up and given the prices being quoted I doubt it would be the latter
He did.He didn't now, though.
If you buy Haaland our attack is still dependent on Martial. If Martial is injured the attack is impotent. It's far more important to buy a similar striker to cover for Martial in the League and play in the cups.Haha, go back to old school and have more than one quality player per position, City manage it well.

See not sure where this comes from now, how can you have one top striker and expect him to play 50/60 games, what happens if he gets injured like he was for this season for two months, you write off that season that title challenge and hope you go through the next season injury free so you can have a crack at the title?
Mahrez has been moaning yes but he has been pretty terrible whenever he has played, Jesus gets loads of game time same with Origi, don't hear them moaning to much.
If a player moans and cries over a bit of competition then that is a weakness on him not the club.
Playing with one top player in each position is absolutely crazy, Pogba out for 2/3 months and we have Lingard/Pereira as replacements, find oursleves what 25 points odd from top spot in November due to injuries and having no top class replacements and we want to do this going forward because it might upset someone he has competition haha do me a favour
He did, but he was very young then (still is) and perhaps he just wants to get an update or some opinions on how some aspects of Haaland's game have developed since then. You would hope this is the same player that Ole had in Norway. So yes he'll know a lot about him and his potential, but he'll still need reports on how his game has come along since then.
Well he's a youngster, so almost the most important thing is that he is continuing to develop at a good pace.
Haven't heard about. Care to elaborate? How long before a filter is inserted that prevents people looping the same stupid thing about Alfe and Roy?
Long overdue!
Most noggies on here are fast to point out that even Alfie has shot that down as something stupid to base his sons career on.How long before a filter is inserted that prevents people looping the same stupid thing about Alfe and Roy?

Well you dont do you. You have a top striker (in this case lets say it's Haaland) and then you rotate him out for the lesser games in Europe/domestic cup - is that a role Martial will be happy to to take on? I think not
Never known Ole to play with two strikers, or a false 9 with the striker splitting, or 3 at the back with two up front, only ever plays one way Ole.
So you're happy with us rolling into the second half of the season and next season with just Martial, who you bringing in as his back up that is going to be good enough if he gets injured but happy to sit on the bench and only play in cup games, who isn't going to cost a fortune (as you don't wanna pay 50M+ for a bench warmer are you).
That's because like I said both Jesus and Origi know full well their role in the squad isn't (and never has been) to play week in week out. I'm not disagreeing we need options
We do need options, and those options should be players who can make a difference not another clubs left overs that we are happy to get in to sit on our bench, you want United to get back fighting the best Liverpool side in 30 years and this City side with Pep, you need more than just Martial up front.
Totally agree
The situation with Pogba is different though, we'd be fine if he were to be out for a long period of time if it weren't for the fact that he's our only creative player in the starting XI. We should have an XI where creativity can come from 2 or 3 players not just the 1. Ideally if we're to persist with the 4231 then Pogba would provide creativity from the no 6, we'd have a top class no 10 in front of him and a top class winger
His point is fair one. Usually you don't see a team with many ''equal options'. There tends to be a pecking order and a composition based on age, reputation etc. For example Mata works as a squad player because he's of a certain age. Lingard works as a squad player because his reputation is not that high.See not sure where this comes from now, how can you have one top striker and expect him to play 50/60 games, what happens if he gets injured like he was for this season for two months, you write off that season that title challenge and hope you go through the next season injury free so you can have a crack at the title?

You play Pogba as a number 6 and we would get absolute destroyed, could you imagine midfield runners from City etc they would have a field day with Pogba as a 6. Yes I get that he is our only creative midfielder, are we allowed to buy another top midfielder so we have options or is this not allowed as it may upset Pogba?
Baffles me how fans think all we need is a top starting 11 and then average back up players who can just do a job, and then to think that we will then be challenging on all fronts, naive for me
