Eric Or Ruud?

In English competition, Eric. He had the EPL and FA Cup on a string. In any game he could make it happen. You just knew. He was an allround player not just a forward.
Ruud is an out-and-out striker, and as such can can be shut out by lesser players. In Europe he is sheer class and would be my first team pick.
In the EPL and FA Cup balls, selfconfidence bordering on arrogance and a lot of skill can get great results which is what Eric did. In Europe sheer class will tell - hence Ruud.

Eric made the difference the moment he stepped onto the pitch for us. He outshone everyone in the team in almost every game he played.

Eric is the King.

Ruud is a great Red.

I agree with Weaste that we cannot compare and if it's at all possible I would have loved to see them play together.

If I had to choose, I'd choose Eric - he wasn't as prolific as Ruud, but he scored some great goals, and his charisma was worth an extra man.

Too right. The potential there was awesome - the way they clicked right from the off.

I am being biased. In my opinion, and comparitively short time as a United fan (about 12 years), Cantona was amongst the greatest players I have seen in the red shirt, if not thee greatest.

Same here :)

Even though I belive Ruud is the best United-player at the moment, I consider Eric the most important player for United I can remember (early eighties), as his arrival gave United that extra push to go from runners-up to winners.

The Benz is a better car isn't it though? ;)

I think it will be hard to have anyone with the same aura/charisma.

And that's why he's still sung about today, not because of what he did on the pitch.

And there will NEVER (as he put it) be anyone with the same aura/charisma ever again, for god knows how many billions of years this planet still has left in it? ;)

Of course, with the whole of my heart...
He is GOD!!

This is a joke, rite?

I don't think Manchester United will ever get anything near Eric Cantona in pure quality of understanding the game, passes, technique, flair, finishing-never ever.

You cannot so easily compare Eric with players from the days way-back-when because the game was so much slower then. But you can compare Eric with Ruud.

Ruud is a good player. Eric was a genious. To claim Ruud is anything near Eric is the joke of the century.

It's like comparing a racing hourse with your neighbour's dog, and say that both are equally fast because both have four legs.

;)
