Eric Dier | Poch: “He is an important player for us and the idea is not to sell him."

Do you want United to sign Eric Dier?

We are interested in Fabinho for sure?
Are you asking me mate?? I have no idea but I'd hazard a guess that we're not in for him as all the British press including BBC had reported pretty much simultaneously that we are not in for him, so I guess must have been a briefing. Kinda like the James Rodriguez situation in May.

Or how about not telling the world you've submitted a list of targets and its all on Woodward? Every club you go to is now expecting desperation.

Keep quiet about transfer plans and get $hit done. Love Mourinho but lets see more transfers wrapped up like Lukaku and not a dragged out farce like Perisic.
Oh dear.

Hope so. Dunno why so many people don't want him.

I don't know how anyone can be against Dier seeing as he is a big upgrade for that DM position over anything we have. He will even allow Pogba do focus more on attacking which in itself will be a big boost to how our team plays.

Not that I don't want him. I voted yes that I wanted Dier, however, I don't see how we can be so desperate to sign him and for the rumoured price when they're more defensive midfielders out there who can do a similar job.

I voted no. However, if it causes Gladstone to have a hissy hit it would be worth a few Million wasted on a nothing player.

Can't help but wonder what price we will get for Jones smalling Damian etc and think yeah probably we could do with somebody handling that side of stuff better whilst ed sticks to what he knows best i.e the commercial side of the business
This whole "Levy's a brilliant negotiator" is a bit of a phantom concept. They got top dollar for their players because they're players they don't want to leave. We rarely (at least at the end) sell our first choice players and so clubs know we can't expect a big fee for a squad player. A different negotiator doesn't change the law of supply and demand. Worth noting that Chelsea are good at selling non essential players for good money.

Oh, Eric, if only Chairman Levy wasn't such a liar,
And could match you in terms of being solid, reliable and a tryer.
We could wrap this deal up and have ourselves a midfield deep lier,
A covering engine to compliment the slick oiled Pogba tyre.
Instead we must twiddle frustrated, recline by the lyre,
Waiting for Mr Woodward to make Mr Levy tire
Of trying to take your absurd cost price higher and higher,
Dragging this interminable shite out right down to the wire,
So that even Jim White thinks your taking the piss.

wasting £50 on magic when we could sign Dier for near enough the same amount

An England international should result in a discount given how shite they are.
And taking a squad slot without filling homegrown quota despite being England international. Would you take tree fiddy Levy?

Eric Dier wreaks of John O'Shea to me. An expensive John O'Shea. He doesn't excel at anything and I don't feel he is particularly good at CB nor CM. He isn't very experienced at any high level and I feel he will get bossed by good midfielders especially in the CL. Jesus wept
John O'Shea was great for us though...

If we sign Dier, do we expect him to start the majority of games?

I recall he played a much bigger role for Spurs as a DM.

Dier's going to have to put in a transfer request if he wants a move.

Jim White rings Club Call and passes it off as his own. His mum's phone bill is ridiculous.

The whole point of Dier is that you can switch between 3 at the back and 4 at the back with him comfortable at DM and CB, and we have a million centre backs at his level (good not great). I'd much rather see us spend that kind of money on someone who has shown they can shine in both a 2 man midfield and a 3 man midfield like Fabinho or N'Zonzi.

Both would be much easier to buy too, Monaco desperately want to sell to anyone but PSG and Sevilla wouldn't drag their heels like Chelsea or Spurs. With Fabinho you even have the added benefit of him slotting in for a RB if needed.

Not great, but he was good for us as an all arounder. We need a quality, specialist, midfield player.

Ugh, when will this meme die? Being crap in several positions doesn't make you a "useful utility player".

Wonder if the spiralling Spurs stadium costs could play a factor in this and their summer. Not really linked with anyone, already sold a big-name player for a big fee, all the transfer talk involves another leaving.

After watching him metaphorically shit himself against Pogba and co for England, no thanks. If he can perform that badly with the pressure off, he'd probably end up locking himself in the toilets when the 5 minute bell goes off on an Old Trafford CL night.

I have no idea why we're not in for N'Zonzi or why he hasn't replaced Matuidi in the France midfield as the holder behind Kante (who can cause havoc when allowed to chase) and Pogba.

He's got Prem experience, composure on the ball, comfortable in a 2 man midfield with fecking Samir Nasri as a partner, massive enough to satisfy Mourinho's size fetish and while he's 28, we don't seem to care about the future and as a DM he probably has 3-4 years left in his prime anyways.

If he goes to Juve I'll punch a wall.

The Norwegian supporter website repeatedly reports that we are after Verratti. Does anyone rather we go for Dier than Verratti? Also, for the sums being thrown around, wouldn't Verratti be just as possible?

I highly doubt PSG would sell Verratti this summer.

Spurs won't be keen on selling so it's up to Dier. He needs to start making the right noises to make this happen.

They are just rounding up all kinds of shit rumours. I haven't seen a serious link between United and Verratti all summer.
