Big miss. Our two best central defender Bailly and Jones always got injured this season. Both of them got the injury from NT which is the most outrageous.

Hope Tuanzebe will get the chance to fills the spot. Great talent but not much opportunity.

He's anything but cool or composed imo.

Yeah, he quite often loses his head and lunges into unnecessary tackles or picks up silly cards. He’s a very good defender with an aggressive style, but cool is not one of his qualities far from it.

Bailly, 23, has been a first choice starter for United since his moved from Villarreal in 2016 and the team only conceded four goals in the ten games he’s started this season. United have conceded 13 in the 16 games he hasn’t started.

No idea how easy/difficult the set of fixtures being compared here were but these stats definitely reflect well on his contribution. He’ll be missed.

They are some very interesting statistics actually. Although, part of the reason I feel we may have conceded more without him is not having a consistent and settled back four since his injury, Smalling has been the only constant with his partner changing fairly regularly and more recently switching from 3 at the back to 4.

Except adductor longus is a muscle in the groin. He’s going for surgery on his ankle.

Pretty close to not knowing your arse from your elbow, right there ;)

the joke is i previously told him that but he still got the length of time correct despite being completely wrong about the injury

When is he coming back?
Is he going to walk in straight into the team?
Are we going to play Jones in Holding Midfield alongwith Matic while Bailly and Rojo as Center Backs when we play in Europe?

End of the season and probably not no.

Could be something like

--------------DeGea----------
---Lindelof----Bailly----Rojo--
Valencia--Jones-Matic----Shaw
-------Pogba-----Lingard----
------------Lukaku-----------

or

Yeah could be No.

Jones is getting extended time at centre back and only centre back for the longest time in his career here. Throwing him into midfield would be an absolute disaster. He's not a midfielder. Never has been.

Back 4 or Back 3, I think Mourinho will play with 2 holding Midfielders in Europe or either Play Pogba a little back...

I see, interesting thoughts No

Why out of nowhere you are so obsessed with Jones in midfield, he's a centre back! It only work in 2012/2013 because we had Carrick next to him who can bring the ball forward with his passings. Jones & Matic in there isn't a good idea.

I just have the feeling that if Bailly is fit and back in defense, we might play with 2 holding midfielders when we play in Europe and there is no one else better to hold it other than Jones.

What concrete proof do you think that a centre back is a better holding midfielder than Herrera & McTominey? I don't remember Jose has ever play him as a holding midfielder.

Apologizies if already posted. It’s so fitting he is our #3 with all the wacky shit he does. Can’t wait until he’s fit again.

You take for granted just how good this guy is when he's not available. His aggression, his ability to push out of the defensive line and win balls initiating counter-attacks, his speed and strength. We don't have another defender with as high a ceiling as him. Only area he really needs to improve on is his heading. I think Lindelof and him could be a great partnership for us going forward.

I'll probably sound like a prat, but the first sentence is wrong. You take him for granted when he is available. It's when he's not available that you appreciate what he brings.

Sorry, it just bugged me and I couldn't help myself.

Appreciated.

And while we're at it, proper grammar is "could have" and "should have," not "could of" and "should of." I see it a lot on this forum. Also, "alot" is not a word.

Thanks, Caf. :)

Phew! For a second I thought I'd committed that cardinal sin in my post.

He's starting to remind me a little of Kompany. Aggressive, always gives all he's got great ball winner, but gets injured all the time, partly because of how he throws himself into situations

Can't wait to see Bailly back in action. Some reports suggest he could be back for the first leg against Sevilla which isn't too far away. Either way he'll be a big boost for us.
