It's like watching Serie A defender in their heyday era. He's hard but fair, skillful and fast but with finesse, and has ice cold composure in any situation. I don't see any CB like him, right now.

I wouldn't swap him for any defender in the world right now. Red hot form!!!

What a beast. He won everything today, and played some great passes.

Signing on the season. Oh and those stats above are just ridiculous, he didn't lose a single header

Pretty much faultless. Strong, composed and doesn't seem to concede needless fouls.

Boundless energy, beastly beastliness and class on the ball, Jose's most astute bit of business.

The way he snatches the ball off defenders in the middle of the pitch with fantastic composure is whats so great about him. Its a really underrated quality which i think more people need to realise that when hes doing it, it stops so many attacks coming our way so that they never happen.

Love the way he distributes the ball and i remember him snatching the ball off Valencia and becoming the RB for a bit which just shows his immense confidence in his ability.

Simply immense. Dont want to jinx it but Darmian looked world class in august :nervous:
Hoping this is not form but class.

Fecking ridiculous tournament. Even we Africans, don't give a shit about it anymore. The timing is shite and the two year interval has diminished it's value.

Speak for yourself mate. You probably support a shit country with no chance of winning it like...nigeria? :p
Not lost its value. Still awesome to watch your team win it.

That doesn't make sense

It's always been over two years.
Yes. But more and more, the timing is becoming an issue. Most national team's players now play in Europe. Also most Africans support European teams now and in most cases, it's is club over country. The players and fans aren't arsed. I traveled back to my native country during the last CON. Tried to watch one of the games but pups were showing a premier league game.

So he'll miss Liverpool H, Stoke A, Hull H and Leicester A if he makes it to the final. Will be a big miss against Liverpool.

Joy to watch at the moment. My favorite moment was when towards the end he got the ball near our 18 and rather than hand it off to Valencia how was beside him to take it forward, he just bombed on. As well as he has played though, am more than a little nervous when he faces Aguero and Co in the next game. Hopefully will be for nothing.

Our players don't even give a feck about it anymore. You get a shitty situation of coaches having to pick many home-based players (who aren't good enough) because the better ones don't take it seriously. Personally, i've never been keen on international football and Fergie hardly bought African players so, it did not matter to me.
Make it every four years and change it to the summer. But CAF want to make money.

Good thing he wasn't born in the US; he'd have never seen a pitch.

We would've bulked him up and made him an outside linebacker or strong safety. His shoulders damn near extend halfway into his short sleeves.

A true Mourinho player if ever there was one. Reminds me a bit of Essien in his good old days.

He's so aggressive. Half the time I expected him to get a foul or card but he ends up winning the ball. Looks like a great young defender.

Remember some posters calling him raw but he seems to be ready for this level.

Huge, huge test for him next game. Couldn't have wished for a better start though, MotM in 3 of his first 4 games

Hopefully they have a tough group and get knocked out early.

His biggest test will be when he makes a mistake and we see how he reacts to it. But so far hes been as solid as a rock, and his partnership with Blind actually looks to be there (whereas I thought Blind and Smalling just looked like two individuals playing their own game).

Has the era of the good 'African' defender finally begun? Never seen something like that from the continent. Only attacking players.

I love this guy. I get so nervous watching him charging at strikers, then he waltzes away with the ball and I wonder why I doubted him.
There was a moment in the second half near the halfway line where he went in at 100mph and I thought this has got red card written all over it, looked like he was about to decapitate the poor bugger.. then he just wins the ball and returns to his positions prowling for the next unfortunate sod.

He is from Espanyol academy.

I think the most amazing thing about Eric is his age. Fecking hell, he plays with like he's a 27 year old experienced CB and not a fresh 22 year old with a half century if games

Still waiting for his inevitable red card but he keeps getting better. Great prospect.

Yeah, easy to tell from...Birmingham? As someone who's lived in a country in Africa for the past few years, it's still a huge deal here.
