England vs South Africa 09/07/12 - 12/09/12

One downside from this series from a South African point of view is that they haven't solved their spinner issue with Tahir.

Really been disappointing. Considering he's done well in the county game I thought he'd have a successful series but he's looked a very ordinary bowler. Can't bat, can't field and he only seems to be marginally effective in the second innings. If SA have any other spinning option then Tahir's place could be under threat.

He's been used badly, though. He's always being given the ball and asked to come around the wicket.

I think Matt Prior in the last 2 years is the best wicketkeeper-batsman of all time.

edit: read this and it sounds retarded.. what I mean is in the last 2 years, Prior has performed at a level that Gilchrist or Sangakarra never did

Morkel is a great bowler, but too often his inner Ishant comes out

Why is Prior such a poor limited overs batsman? Very bizarre thing that

This reminds me of the Ashes game at Edgbaston in 2005, captivating stuff.

Run out!!!!

Wtf were they doing.

Damn Swann is out. Game over.

The maligned Tahir has added some value at least.

Well done Tahir, game swings back in SA's favour. Can Prior lead England home....

Prior gone as well. Start the car, almost over now....

Edit: NO BALL!! Incredible.

Gilchrist? You're saying Prior's a better batsman that Gilchrist?

Anyway, kudos to England for making what looked like a foregone conclusion so exciting.

What a moment that could be, fecking Morkel.

Yes. Gilchrist came in after a great top 6 pissed all over the opposition most times.

Despite being one of the few players to leave the game with credit, Prior has pretty much cost England twice now in the game

I didn't hear the commentary but was it the umpires that referred the no ball? Although I'm obviously biased, I think that's rubbish if true. What's the point of the umpires even checking during the delivery if they are going to review every time there is a wicket?

Umpire referred it and he was right to do so as it was the right decision. If that was given out then everyone would have made a big fuss over it and it would have overshadowed a brilliant last game. As it is, the right decision has been made.

In a and game like this, I'd rather they check every time to make sure it was a legitimate dismissal rather than make a mistake and have that mistake overshadow the end result

Stumped surely?

Great reactions from AB.

Edit: very difficult to tell if he got back, fair decision.

I hear you - I wish they had done it during the 99 semi final between SA and Aus (still bitter!).

The no ball checking is a relatively new rule introduced in late 2010

Anderson won't be lasting against Philander with a new ball too long then

I think 1-1 would be a very poor representation of how this series has gone.. think SA been the better team by quite a bit

Got prior!! Philander with a huge wicket.

Superb bowling from a terrific bowler. Good innings from prior but SA will deservedly take the series now.

Priors done as well as he could. No support from anyone else in the top order apart from Bairstow.

SA win. Philander wraps it up, he's had a superb match.

All over. All out

Fully deserved victory for SA
England do have some positives to take from the series, but almost as many questions

I've not really followed cricket properly of late but this Philander chap has a bowling average of 14 in his first 7 games?! The feck??
