England vs South Africa 09/07/12 - 12/09/12

fecking good thing India aren't playing SA for another 18 months or so.. Thank god. I wouldn't have survived that series

SA were excellent.

I wonder if they'll bring in a specialist WK or stick with AB behind the stumps?

They'll stick with AB. It allows for an extra specialist batsman in Duminy which gives the team much needed batting depth. Our bowlers aren't great with the bat bar maybe Philander and Steyn.

We'd have been fecking trashed.

I think really need to get Finn in next test, and look to give Borthwick more games here and there. He's no where near ready to displace Swann yet but Swanny's looking like he's lost something, as if he's not putting as many revs on the ball and long term England need a leggie if this side is going to achieve its potential.

Bit premature on Swann, how many wickets did he take in Sri Lanka this year?

Only just realised Bopara has withdrawn from the squad, citing personal reasons. Anyone any idea what that's about? It's unlikely to do his future chances much good.

I'd like to see Prior move one up the order for the next match, with Finn coming into the side ahead of either Bresnan or Broad, but I suppose Taylor for Bopara will be the only change.

I think Taylor is the right selection, I've thought for a while he'll score a lot of runs at test level.

On another note it seems Sam Northeast has finally turned the corner, expect him to be in the England side within 2 years, possibly the replacement for Strauss.

AB gone! Big wicket for England as we approach the end of Day 1.

Still, with 250 runs put up and 6 wickets left SA will be quite happy with the day's play considering the conditions and that England had won the toss.

419...thats a number you where you can't really be sure whether you've done well or not. England did put them in though so they can't be too happy with letting the Safricans get over 400.

Anyone have a live stream pls PM me asap. Cant find one depsite looking for 20 mins!!!

It's spot the Englishman time, Trott and Pietersen at the crease now. Big partnership for England.

Very good day for England.

If the weather doesn't intervene this is setup nicely.

KP picked a bad day to hit a truly great ton. It will probably barely get a mention now.

Could this point any more to a draw? Both sides dead level at lunch on the fourth day and here comes the rain.

Windies and NZ setup nicely for an intriguing day 4 by the way. Windies need 71 with 6 in hand but importantly Chanderpaul's still around.

So now we can't lose this series. Although I'm happy with that, it's a real shame that this isn't a 5 match series.

Agree on the 5 match series part. Great to know we won't lose the series though. Hopefully the lads make it count in the last test.

If, and that is a big 'if' the way SA are batting, England manage to win the last test, everyone is going to feel very short changed to leave it at 1-1.

Why the feck did we play the Aussies in 5 ODI's

KP out, that should be the draw guaranteed now.

If we lose this we idiots. Should've gone for the draw.

Prior could make things very interesting. I think England could win this...
