England v South Africa

Monty to do a Devon Malcolm.

You heard it here first. ;)

By our modest standards, what are the positives? Strauss? Bopara? That about it?

Fletcher's on his way...must be!

and something needs to be done about Flintoff asap! he hasn't looked like he gives a shit for weeks! hasn't even celebrated any of his wickets like he used to since pedalogate. it's almost as if he's still sulking. he either needs dropping altogether or given the responsibilty of opening...something that makes him get his fecking finger out.

on the plus side tho...pedalogate stopped Ravi becoming the Theo Walcott of the outfit and thank god.

i'm almost numb to it now, Frosty.

almost :(

why can't we have two different teams for each form of the game?

Because the ECB are far too conservative

I hope that Fletcher loses him job, he has to now

They should bring in and blood as many youngsters as possible, give them a chance, can't play much worse than the current lot do, and they would probably try twice as hard (barring KP, Colly and Bopara, who at least gave it their all)

yeah, and get Warney in to coach them.

i'd probably add Jimmy to that list as well, he's still improving.

who won the county ODIs last season? Essex? and yet only Ravi in the team?

Shane Warne and Tom Moody would be an great coaching combination in my opinion.

To be fair to them, Monty is class, and if only we had a decent bowling coach then Saj Mahmood may actually make something of himself

There just seems to be an air of apathy over the squad, emanating from the top down, which has led to this mediocrity

Really, really peeved at the management

we have the individual talents, no doubt! best ODI batsman in the world? best left arm spinner? Freddie (when he stops sulking and gets over KP)...Collingwood...now Ravi.

on paper, it all works...but there's something going on backstage that needs to be identified.

i've had a brain freeze but Ireland's wicket keeper (name? ugh!) is eligible for england in October as well.

Kevin O'Brien is it?

The whole selection process is screwed up

The fact that Graveney has no responsibilities when the team is on tour is ludicrous

Ricky Ponting and Daniel Vettori are English now?

Who cares about one-day cricket anyway?

You've invented this myth that test cricket is the real criterion for quantification just because English are absolute rubbish at One Dayers(this is not to say that you're any good at test, you just play well every now and then). And some people have subscribed to this. Only in this forum would you find people saying that ODIs are absolutely worthless.

check our compassion hat at the door, did we Kee?

Well actually I was being rather kind, I actually resisted the urge in putting the boot even further into the English backside and reminding you that you are a useless ODI team with no cohesion, a few decent players but the rest mediocre, a team of overchokers that couldnt even make the semis.

Oops.

Well after I got over the fact that you were at the England NZ game without me, the pics aren't half bad. I like the one in the general with you on the beach as well, you've got nice teeth.

One day cricket's shite, and not proper cricket, and never has been, and that's nothing to do with England. I'm English FFS, I take pleasure in us being rubbish, it allows me to be self-deprecating.

England invented One Day cricket, and probably play this form of the game more than any other country(domestic cricket). However, the fact that it's not proper cricket, shouldn't excuse England's inept performances. That said, I'd delete the world cup. Just for a laff.

Mehro's right. Ponting and Vetorri are better. And if Monty is even one of the best left arm spinnesr its because their arent any around. But i think you're right about the rest. Same thing with India and Pakistan. All the talent is there but it was put together badly. Too much wrong behind the scenes at the wrong time. Sad because its made the world cup worse.
