England in India 2021

This third umpire is super fast I must admit. That was a close call as it did look like the leg could be in the air. Should have asked for a couple more angles before he makes a decision. Specially the stump camera.
Agreed. It’s shady

There is no need for this third umpire nonsense - why is it happening?

And why no mention on the India comms feed?

Luckily having little to zero effect on the result, just seems so unnecessary.

His foot was grounded before the bails went off.. it wasnt even between frames..
what will other angles show that can change this?

The umpiring is a total & utter joke . How can you make that decision without the stump cam. He might be right but why is he in such a hurry

It's professionalism mate. I've never seen it done consistently as rushed as this anywhere in the world. It's really odd and causing aggro that could so easily be avoided.

They’ll get sacked

Must do everything to ensure that the first match in Dear Leader's stadium isn't lost. :wenger:

I think the umpires have been pretty fair to be honest. There has been a lot of umpire calls in both favour. If we get two quick wickets here the pressure is on

Pitch, now umpires. Gracious in defeat (though this match is still on).

For the 1000th time England are losing because they are being outplayed . That doesn't mean that the pitch & the umpiring can't be criticised . Again the curator & umpire are neutral individuals doing their job . Can you please tell me one post which has said that India are winning winning because of the umpire

All the moral highground in last match over not surrounding the umpire has suddenly disappeared in this innings.

If you look at the frames after this, it looks like his foot lifts slightly trying to move it back and then after the lights come on the foot is still moving down.
The wicket camera could show if that is downwards movement of the foot or if the foot planting deeper into the pitch.
I am not saying he was out. I was simply pointing that the umpire could have looked at more options to be absolutely sure before he makes a decision.

I get that England are frustrated, but this whole making faces and protesting every single decision is not a good look. It's almost as if they are trying to convey that 'hey, it's not our fault, every single decision is going against us'. As @Di Maria's angel said, first it was the pitch, now it's the umpires. It's time for them to man up and accept responsibility rather than looking for things to blame.

I mean the reasons for the complaints are fundamentally different?

I feel like a few of the Indian chaps are being quite partisan here in the disguise of claiming the English fans are

Min overs left .. but play goes on for only 30 mins after scheduled close of play.

Eng over rate was very slow.

Anyway back to the Cricket.

Nightmare of a day for England with the bat, really poor application with a few shocking dismissals (hello Olly Pope).

Decent fightback with the ball but you'd expect Rohit/Rahane/Pant to get India 200+ which should be enough.

Anyone see it going past day 3?

Idiotic decision not playing a 2nd spinner, I know it's easy in hindsight but imagine If Leach picked up an injury. Root should bowl himself tomorrow, would not be surprised if he picked up a couple of wickets.

Get 200+ score in this innings, then day 3 is a fair call.

I’m staggered at how quickly some of these decisions are being made and with the jinxy review as well this just makes it worst

This is unfortunately going to go down as a terrible series largely due to how inept England have been.

But we knew that going in to be fair!

This is pretty much it

Exactly this. I don't think anyone is complaining about incorrect decisions, they're getting annoyed that the decisions are being made hastily and therefore are not conclusive. They have various angles available as we saw on the Leach review so I don't see why they aren't using them. If they show all the possible angles which them proves the decision clearly then nobody is complaining. The stumping is a perfect example- if they show the stump cam angle it will clearly show if the foot is grounded or not. If it is, then fine we all accept it and move on knowing that it 100% wasn't out. As it is having just shown the 1 angle you've now still got some people saying that they think it was out as there wasn't a conclusive angle shown

I watch an abnormal amount of cricket & have done for the last 2 decades and I can't remember a series in the last 10 years where so many 3rd umpire decisions have been made looking at 1-2 angles. Makes no sense at all . Rohit had another close stumping in the second test just before the Rahane mare where the umpire gave it not out quickly looking at one angle . He literally has one job and making the decisions fast for whatever reason is not his job
