The Taurean
looks like a chipmunk
Thats one way for Root to hole up at Chepauk.
I'd fancy Broad against Pant.Take the new ball and give it to Stone and Leach.
Why didn’t root just stand his ground on that review?
Looking forward to seeing our spinners bowl. Might give perspective on Rohits and Rahane innings.
It's going to be carnage! Can see some seriously low scores from England here - especially without Buttler and even Bess in the team.
Yeah Buttler's the sort of guy who could have gone for it and scored a reckless 100. This sort of situation might actually have been made for him. It's going to be carnage! Can see some seriously low scores from England here - especially without Buttler and even Bess in the team.
For Test level this pitch is embarrassing.
It’s a bit early to say the toss is crucial.Yeah I agree, any pitch which makes winning the toss so utterly and completely crucial to win the match is just crap to me.
But the way that pitch is playing on day 1? Can’t say enough about Rohit’s 162It’s a bit early to say the toss is crucial.
Agree. It’s a bit early to say the toss is crucial.

So the same as first test then?
Yeah.
Much prefer some balance.
Our only hope is Root doing the same but doing it day 2 is an entirely different prospect, can’t see us getting a result out of thisRohit's 150 is genuinely looking ridiculous on this pitch.
I dont give us much hope of clearing 200 on this barring a Stokes miracle slow fest. Our only hope is Root doing the same but doing it day 2 is an entirely different prospect, can’t see us getting a result out of this
Agree 100%Think it's a bit unfair to bemoan the state of the pitch. Everyone knows you can get these pitches and conditions when touring this part of the world.
It would be like a touring side getting frustrated by overcast, swinging conditions in England - and pitches that accommodate it.
It's just how it can be, and teams should prepare best they can for it. England have some decent spinners but no-one with the sort of quality to dominate and take total advantage of this surface. Expect India's spinners to get some mad figures here.
The Root is now bowling with the new ball over Leach and Ali demonstrates this.

Agreed. Looking forward to seeing Stokes bat.One way to look at it is it's a chance for someone to make an all time great innings.
If one of the England batsmen made a big hundred batting 2nd on this pitch it would be seriously impressive. You can never write the likes of Root or Stokes off.
Assuming this match doesn't go something like 350, 160, 80, 50.Think it's a bit unfair to bemoan the state of the pitch. Everyone knows you can get these pitches and conditions when touring this part of the world.
