ENG v RSA 2nd Test...

If this happens,I will probably give up watching cricket alltogether.20/20 is a shit game of slogging with hardly any tactical sense and more of a lottery.

Same here, but its not going to happen. Test cricket has its own fan boys like you and me. There will always be somebody to watch.

I agree. Many Sri Lankan players might not tour England, next year, because it'll coincide with the IPL(unless dates are changed). I can't say I blame them, it can't be easy to turn down that type of cash. Still, it's mental. There was a time when a tour to England was the most important in the calendar, for all nations. . .but it clearly isn't anymore. Not sure how Test cricket can compete. . .let alone survive. We;ll see, though. . .but I think it's about to become huge globally, if it already, isn't. Soon kids will dream about taking part in it. . .instead of wanting to be Test cricketers.

Somebody may not be enough, though. 20/20 already has a big following hence the amount of cash it can generate. I'd like to see where Test cricket will fit in in the grand scheme of things. And I'm not really that optimistic, if I'm honest.

I don't think test cricket will be extinct. It will be played in front of much lesser crowds and television viewers, but it wouldn't matter for me.

It's the only true form of the game. Anyway, in a couple of decades, 20/20 purists will be pouring scorn over the idea of a new game. . .5/5 cricket. It's just not cricket.

Yep, you can't really enjoy one-day cricket as much as test cricket. 20-20 is not even cricket. I personally decided not to watch any 20-20 games, I'll boycott ODIs too, if the new system is accepted by the ICC.

Maybe not extinct but not as good,I can see the quality of player dropping to an average county level if most aspire to follow the money and develop their game to suit the shorter version.I guess It's down to what the kids will follow and want to see, hopefully something can be done with test cricket to give players more incentive to play it and pitches more suited to even play.

Hope so.

On a side note, I recently watched a few England Vs India matches from the 80s. While the quality of fielding has improved considerably, there is a noticeable decline in the batting and bowling techniques. I think cricket has become more and more athletic and not a lazy game anymore.

The money, glamour, crowds, and the fact that all the other decent cricketers are playing there is the reason why 20/20 will continue to grow and be invested in.

Another different type of game will develop after people are bored of it just like the 50 overs. Test cricket will still survive though, it'll just be cut down with tournaments getting in the way, like we've seen.

I'm not really arsed anyway I've had enough of cricket and the Aussies for the moment.

The two hottest sensations of Indian cricket Dhobi and his sidekick Gambhir cannot play the ball straight - fecking crossbattes shots played across the line. I admit I havent seen them play much but how many times has anyone seen the logo on Dhoni's blade or Gambhir’s for that matter.

The former is an offshoot of the shorter version whilst Gambhir is a gully cricketer fit only for 20-20. Laughably the quality of pitches and bowling attacks in test cricket has stooped down to new lows even he might hit 5000 plus runs if he hangs around for next or five seven years
