Emergency Board Meeting called to discuss the future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

It's mainly about appearances though. As long as the fans are happy the money roles in.

To use your analogy it's more like the scene from Airplane where they are on autopilot and going round the cabin quietly asking if anyone knows how to fly a plane.

Find me a happy fan.

If it's about the money rolling in then how does the manager measure up when both the Cl place and next year's cl qualification are at threat, he's let the club spend £100m+ on assets he either has no idea how to use (Sancho) or outright refuses to use (VDB). He's probably cost the club even more by devaluing assets with mismanagement (Pogba, Lingard).

I don't get the finance argument because if it's about prioritising the money he's doing a fecking dangerously awful job

It’s a damning indictment of the football personnel at the club that there’s not even a single person they trust to even act in a caretaker capacity if they dismissed Ole. This is meant to be the biggest football club in the world. We should have a wealth of top coaches and if needs be we should also have a DoF/technical director capable of stepping in for a few weeks.

I think all confidence in any of the coaches has completely gone and I think Fletcher would be reluctant to step in.

I think he actually has a fair amount of influence over the bankers.

Obviously he has no voting rights, he's a token board member, but that doesn't mean he has no influence.

Whether he's regularly present in the virtual board meetings between the bankers, lawyers and Joel I dont know, I suspect not.
So in other words you dont have a clue how much influence he has.

Right, because the 0-5 v thw vermin wasn't serious enough for an Emergency meeting.

Tbf to Howard Nurse he only mentions something if it is truly taking place. So yh there's definitely discussions going on about his sacking.

He's gone lads.

Upgrade, sure. But if you think he could handle managing this group of players and is ready for the ridiculous pressure that comes with the job, fair enough, I have major major doubts.
What makes the pressure ridiculous?

The ‘nothing’s been said so I’ll make something up to fill in the gap so everyone thinks Joel Glazer has me on speed dial’ Twitter journalists out in force.

It’s crazy if the club doesn’t sack Ole. I’m also surprised Ole hasn’t decided to leave his post himself. Maybe he just is to loyal and stays until they’ve found a replacement.

It’s almost unbelievable Ole hasn’t done major changes in the coaching team.

Fair point. Also makes the Board look like planks if they brief this out and don't do anything.

Yeah, absolutely.

But they already look bad. Everyone in the football world knows they are incompetent. They've been fleeced by clubs in the market, they've been ridiculed by professionals in the game, pundits and journalists. Their staggering ineptitude is completely exposed and has been for a long while.

Maybe their plan is to keep Ole until we're all desperate for literally anyone else, and then trot out an underwhelming choice - but since they kept Ole for so long and we're like 20 points off at that point - we will all be extatic?

So in other words you dont have a clue how much influence he has.

I never said he had loads of influence in the first place, just that he was one of the board members in the pro 'giving Ole more time' faction.

Judge, Woodward and Arnold are the ones with influence over the Glazers, and the ones that are definitely all in the transatlantic zoom meetings.

Looks like the meeting is still going on?

Howard Nurse is someone we can trust, right? I mean, within reason of course.

It's hard to imagine the board going to the effort of holdng an emergency meeting if they're weren't going to sack Ole. He's as good as gone.

It's gone beyond this even being relevant. When there's a maniac in the cockpit smashing up the controls you get them out, not sit there wondering if there's any great pilots around to replace them with.

Terrific analogy, except then one realizes that the people being tasked with removing the maniac are a group of weak-chinned champagne-sipping socialites in first-class who all happen to be related to each other and some of whom hate each others guts-

Hold on, I need to call up some writers and see if this can be developed into a ninety-minute Netflix movie for under $500k.

Imagine if we leak that we are holding emergency talks and then keep him anyway.

What club would be so stupid as to do… oh right yeah.

I imagine the biggest sticking point is the Villarreal game. Lose that and we genuinely could be in the Europa League again, can we go into it with someone taking over for 1 game.

Fair point. Also makes the Board look like planks if they brief this out and don't do anything.

Maybe they want the fans to think that they're actually doing something instead of sitting in the middle of a room caught on fire, sipping tea and quietly whispering "This is fine".

We're run by completely soulless, utterly clueless, incredibly detestable scum

He’s not going anywhere, I swear. What the feck does this man have to do to get sacked it’s absolutely incredible..

we just got smashed by fecking watford. You think keeping ole makes it more likely we win???
