EFL Trophy - Salford City vs Manchester United

We had a good run in this competition last year, would be good to have another run in it

Wonder what G-Nev is making of this on commentary

By the way, Puigmal left at half time due to a thigh injury.

Salford have resorted to kicking our players out of the ground.

Laird is unlucky or is he injury prone? Has been injured for some time now with different injuries. Such a shame
He's still young, so here's hoping that he'd grow out of these injuries as his body matures, but the fact that he keeps getting them at a young age is concerning.

Neville sounds like she’s commentating from his bedroom while his parents are asleep next door.

By the way, just before our 5th goal, Salford had a very easy chance to get one back.

Outside of that Choupo Moting one where he actively prevented a goal, it's a decent shout for worst miss of all time.

Nah, they didn't play dirty at all (credit for that). He was just late.
Good to know; I was seeing several Tweets that referred to Salford throwing themselves at the players to stop them. If they weren't playing dirty, then that's great.

Hopefully Puigmal and Laird's injuries aren't too bad.

Is elanga rated?
If you ask me, I highly rate him. I don't know about what United think of him, but I'm sure that they'd rate him highly, too. He doesn't have the hype that Hannibal Mejbri does, though, because his transfer didn't get too much attention.

Not the one who gets the most attention of the midfielders but ive never seen McCann have a bad game, hope he continues to do well with the u23s

Yeah, quite highly. I'd say he's our most exciting attacker of the current crop yet to make their first team debut.
He popped up in both wings in the clips in this thread, is he a winger then? Right or left footed?

Cancelled mutv a few years ago and have totally fell out of touch with the u21s

He is, yeah. He's a right-footed player who can play on either and is comfortable cutting in as well as going on the outside. He's also played up front on a few occasions though I wouldn't necessarily think of him as a striker.

Is elanga rated?
My personal opinion is that we need to see more. I get the impression that he may struggle in games where opposition give him little space and match him for pace.

The like of Mejbri are technicians and excell in tight spaces so it's easy to see why he's be rated highly at both United and in France.

Happy to see Elanga doing well with an assist and a goal. Looks like a real handful with his pace and I hope he'll get more first-team opportunities soon.

I can't help but get really excited by Elanga. I think he's got a big future.

It’s on ifollow..

Will I pay Salford to watch this game when it should be on mutv? The answer is no.
The EFL have been using a system called SimplyLive to do the ifollow games since the start of last year. It's why there are now replays on those games as the year before it was literally one camera moving up and down the pitch and nothing else, no graphics or clock or anything. I know this as I was doing it. Run the replays, graphics and then at the end cut the 2 and 10 minute highlights. Each game is always a tenner IIRC.

MUTV couldn't have shown this game if they wanted to.
