EFL Cup 24/25 Semi-Finals

Even though they hit the bar, spurs have 0 shorts on target. What a useless club

McCoist thinking he's saying something profound when he corrected the co-commentator who said that Liverpool are one of the best teams in Europe by saying that they may be one of the best in the world. There is no team outside Europe that would get into the 20 best teams in the world.

Spurs "The Great Entertainers"...well at least that is the shite Sky pundits like to peddle.

Spurs shite but Liverpool outstanding in fairness

Feck me this Liverpool crowd is dead and stadium is looking empty towards the end, you can bet OT would be bouncing in a season they’re having

Awesome to know that they look even better and more balanced with Klopp no longer there

Spurs have been pathetic. Utterly pathetic.

Watch them turn up against us and play the game of their lives.

something needs to derail slot. He’s currently en route to the best season of any debut season coach in the history of any sport.

Current Liverpool remind me so much of United when they were good

Calm in the transfer markets, nicely blending their experienced players with youth, ruthless on the pitch

Slot was some appointment. Even if he wasn’t their first choice.

Liverpool were really good but Spurs also really poor. Plenty of injuries but they never looked like getting result in this game. Liverpool big favourites against Newcastle for me. Newcastle lost 2 Fa Cup finals in 98 and 99, probably to lose 2 League Cup finals in '23 and '25 now.

Really dominant performance against a Spurs side on its knees in terms of fitness. Didn't even have a shot on target. 26 and 10 on target for us.

Szobozslai is crucial to how this team plays. He struggled after a good start last season but as this one has gone on, he's developed into a crucial player in Slot's system. Basically turns us into a 4-2-4 without the ball.

I didn't watch the game, but the stats make terrible reading for Spurs.

They may even have been better off drawing the first leg and being forced to show some ambition in the second leg. This looks like they were just confused whether to attack or just sit back and by the time they decided, it was too late.

Yeah, no. That's just their normal game.

We're so bad at the moment especially against them, that it looks like they're playing out of their skins.

No they were just meek and shit. They didn't lay a glove on Liverpool.

I find the current trend or brand or style (whatever you wanna call it) in English football to be terrible on the eye.

Just a mad dash after every kick, and whoever is strongest and run the furthest wins.

(Maybe I’m just old and jaded)

Yes Spurs are weak but Liverpool are playing to a different level than everyone else this season both at home and in Europe , they could easily end up with the quadruple without breaking a sweat.
They deserve the quadruple, simple as that

Didn't expect anything from Spurs. Maybe sneak a 0-0, but at no point did I feel they'd score. Game was finished once Salah scored. Gakpo has improved

The guy made a reasonable point and you totally overreacted here, Brucie
I have misdirected my annoyance towards him, but I don't think it's an over reaction at all

Domestic football since the premier league began in 1992 has lost matches in favour of international and European football.

In 1992 the premier league had more games as there where more teams.

League cup matches had 2 legged games and games going into extra time and penalties. The extra times are gone.

FA cup matches had replays. Now gone

The domestic game is the bread and butter and in my view it should be cherished but all you hear now is about cutting domestic games and then the European games and internationals increasing.

I'm not saying some changes are not good changes eg reducing the premier league to 20 teams and 38 games needed to happen.

I also agree that having 2 legs in the early rounds of the league cup is too much.

But I don't agree with fa cup replays being gone and cutting the domestic game any further because it's not about player welfare and never was, it's about more lucrative games for the top teams and for internationals.

We are not cutting the overall games we are just replacing the domestic game for larger world cups, euros (don't know about other jurisdictions) European club tournaments and now a larger world club cup

The game is already bastardised by money, we shouldn't be advocating to bastardise it further.

Rant over........ Feel better now :+1::D

Haha, fair enough! I see your overall point but I just also agree with the original poster's point, in that I don't really see the worth in having two almost identical cup competitions :)

This is Klopps hard work. Slott has just got lucky.
