Edward Woodward

Three signings now will evolve to one deadline day loan signing with protests of how difficult it is to sign players in a World Cup year. Meanwhile all of our rivals will add on average about four players each.

He is talking about shirts probably due to hysterical numpties scared of financial collapse. Also do you really want him commenting on what happens on the pitch?

There is a large number of posters here just twisting everything they can to fit their agenda. And it's ruining discussions.

to be fair Martin Edwards often talked about games and players, he was a fan of the game as well as being a businessman.

"We will continue to invest in squad as need to to make sure we compete at the highest level," he added.

The man can't even speak English properly and he's running our damn club! Moyes out, wait, Moyes? I mean Woodward out!

Business man talking in business terms at a business meeting. Caf implodes.

Canto has been consistently on it these days. I can't actually see what Woody has said wrong tbh.

Yep, even by his standards his posting has been appalling. I understand why people think Moyes should go, but none of them arguments have come from Canto, despite him not shutting up for weeks now. It's the old 'empty vessels ' adage.

What rule have I broken now precious? I was trying to tell you in a few threads now, as a moderator, that you have been breaking one of the discussion guidelines over and over by not actually participating in discussions, but agenda posting as we call it. If you prefer more silent moderation that's fine. I'll just ban you from any threads I feel you are doing this in. You get the government you deserve. There have been calls to ban you and a few others from the United forum altogether until you untwist your knickers and contribute to the discussions. You'll have to reply to this by PM if you want to reply.

That's something that is always likely to annoy some sections of fans. I wouldn't class that as agenda posting.

The problem he (KC) seems to have is relying on the Mirror to get details of what was said.

If you want to know what Woodward said in context read the full report. Don't rely on a red top to give you the highlights, because they take stuff out of context and you end up looking a bit silly.

This. Watch the excuses by moyes come in early this summer.

So do you think Moyes does not want to sign players or that he won't be backed by the club? Neither make much sense and one would think the Mata signing would have shut some of your up but apparently not.

You wouldn't class what as agenda posting? Him getting annoyed about the money man talking about money?

If you are just talking about this thread then keep your beak out, if you have looked back at all his posts over the last few weeks, we'll compare notes.

I really can't see how our Chief Executive, during a conference call to investors, talking about commercial priorities is a problem. That's his job. What's he supposed to do, bring in sponsorships by showing them Youtube vids of Januzaj?

Good stuff from Woodward and an assurance that a season or two of falling short on the pitch won't have disastrous consequences financially. Or at least that's how the Glazers see things and we can expect them to act accordingly.

This thread is fairly comical though, he says he wants to bring in loads and get rid of loads, something loads of people on here have been crying out for, and instead people focus on other aspects of what he said, aspects relating to ... his job.

I'm talking about this thread. That wasn't agenda posting. Yes some fans would get annoyed at that statement at this time.

That comment about increasing twitter followers was sad.

Why, we live in 2014 not...whatever the year was before twitter was invented. Twitter followers/FB 'likes' means money as we can say to sponsors 'pay us and we'll have your tweet sent directly to X millions with our own endorsement.'

No, it's really not. And that's why it's sad.

It is though, isn't it? At a basic level, it indicates that people around the world are interested in Manchester United. I realize it's all part of the "brand" side of football which is annoying, cynical and soul sapping, but its also necessary in order to compete at the highest level.

No kidding.

Well I'm not talking about this thread, it would be hard to establish an agenda on a handful of posts. Apology accepted.

It's a rather negligible amount. It was also sad because of the small amount of new twitter followers he stated. How does this differ from regular days? Either way, it's a small time thing to bring up. Sure, it's a business. I'm guessing it wouldn't even come up if United were currently successful. Do we think City or Barcelona are discussing twitter followers on conference calls? Sure, could easily be down to the stupidity of investors needing to see upward trends of nonsense to justify their investment but it's small time. And decidedly so.

I never apologized nor do you deserve one.

OK, but mind your own business unless you know what you are poking your nose into. I don't, and the forum doesn't need your opinion on moderation. If you have an issue report it or PM someone. Have a nice day.

I knew what I was talking about which is why I said it. The forum doesn't pick and chose what posters say which is what makes it one of the better ones. You take care as well.

Yes it does, which is what makes it one of the better ones, and you were told to make any off topic input by PM. Bye.

Nothing wrong with Woodward's comments. He will not discuss the football in detail, and if he discusses it at all, it would always be a throw away comment like 'we all hope things will get better' etc. He has again affirmed his committment to bringing players in, and letting dross go, which is just as important.

Hardly expect him to complain about crosses now.

I'd be on his back if he attempted to discuss the football in any depth. So really the man can't win.

People having a go at the club for the Twitter thing probably lose a large part of the integrity of their argument for making it on an internet message board.

"Pathetic we chase all this online shite, it's not the real world and it's embarrassing" - from BashfulLover64 on Geek.org.net

The biggest problem with conversations on here surrounding the CEO's job performance and the club's financial operations is that the vast majority simply don't understand them. Was the same with Gill, too.

Businesses are frequently quoting social media stats these days, it's pathetic, but spreading.
