From the very little I've seen of him, his touch seems equally exquisite and loose at times. It alway seems like he's about to take a ball closely and dribble/carry it effortlessly past 3-4 players but he rarely does.
Seems quite mature to put the brakes on and playing to the tactics but doesn't seem to be a natural tempo setter, more a drifting 8.

Yeah that is a fair assessment. His touch is heavy at times which is like as anti-Kroos you can get if we want Cama to take that LCM spot. Needs to grow his game and I hope he can because he does have fantastic abilities. Won’t be a 1;1 replacement but I hope Carlo can make it work.

If I were SJR I'd send Madrid a blank check and beg them to sell us Camavinga.

SJR will say, we want the next Camavinga. IMO, he'd be right too. What we need is for our scouts to start earning their money.

Yeah, I was surprised about him. Read a lot about Madrid fans being quite skeptical about his long term future but he looked very good in the final.
Valverde is by a country mile your best midfielder. The disrespect he gets from neutrals is crazy, if I was going to spend 100m on any player in the world at the moment it would probably be him.
I think Valverde has suffered from coming through alongside all time greats. You can see he's a very good and intelligent player when you watch him, but not having the stardust or superlatives of a Modric leads to people ignoring him. Not his fault but that's how I see his predicament.
If I was picking a finished article from that midfield at the moment I'd also take him, but looking at future potential and having Mainoo in my midfield, Camavinga would be my instant pick. A Kobbie and Camavinga partnership would be the stuff of dreams actually.
Valverde's engine and intelligent makes an extra special player, Madrid simply wouldn't be able to play the way they do without him.
Camavinga is already great and could get even better but as good as he is I'd imagine you'll be able to find many players cut from the same cloth even if not as good, but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone down 2hat valverde does.
I agree Valverde's combination of engine and on-ball play is rare. For me, Mainoo has a similar intelligence on the ball but with even higher potential and skill set, and only lacks the former's engine. That's why I would primarily pair Kobbie with someone with an engine, defensive solidity but also good on the ball like Camavinga. The more I think about it, the three of them could form a perfect midfield.
Valverde is A LOT better defensively than Camavinga. In fact the only aspect of the game Camavinga does better than Fede is long range passing
