How is he a big upgrade? As another poster said, Cavani barely played 30 games in the last 2 seasons due to many injuries.

I bet he won't do any better than Ighalo. I'm actually very worried that Cavani might struggle with his fitness and could take a while to get match fit. He'd get ghosted in the Prem otherwise.

We wont challenge this season anyway. I meant more for another top 3/4 fight. That is the reality. Liverpool will win with ease.

Next summer we need a huge window though, and maybe a new manager if we want to challenge

See, that's why I think Ole would want him. He would provide a sterling work rate, be the focus of multiple opponent players and tactics, which would free up the other teammates, gain a trustworthy set piece taker in the age of VAR, and his reputation and status would also boost the team (and a notable chunk of the fanbase, as added bonus).

- syncs with midfielders well and makes runs in accordance with what they can provide.
- Greenwood and Martial should learn a hell of lot from him.

The negatives are:

- he's not close to the peak player he was now.
- has lost a step.

- Martial doesn't like competition for his spot.


The last one is on Martial, of course, but in terms of harmony, there's a potentially upset player to contend with.

The signing isn't a good one, for me, but if it's going through, might as well be objective about it rather than emotional or irrational.

This is a fair assessment for me, even if I don't fully agree with it. I think there will be days where he'll genuinely be our best striker option, and he's a very different kind of striker compared to Martial, which to me is a huge plus (as it offers us versatility). If Martial can't handle competition, then that's completely on him. Right now, no one is challenging him for that position, and he has had a poor start to the season.

How much is the Cavani deal costing us? If it's such a good deal for us then why didn't we do it in August? No point having a backup option who spends half the time injured himself. If Martial got a long term injury on Tuesday, could we rely on Cavani to play all season? Behave.

We didn't offer Ighalo a new contract, we extended the loan beyond June because we still had games this summer.

Where does this myth originate from. Martial and Marcus fought for the left for years. Things only got complicated when Sanchez was undeservedly given the starting spot.

Don’t need to register 4 keepers surely, release Grant then just need to sell loan a couple (as well as Smalling). Easier said than done though as it’s been our biggest weakness for years imo.

I'm not so sure it could have been. We're the last top club circling around him and it looks like we wont be giving him everything he wanted i.e. long term deal. If we had done this earlier maybe the demands would have been more, but he's probably as desperate as we are.

Hes only available as a rotation piece. He's not a surefire starter, if he was still in his prime, he would take martial spot. Stop acting like we dont know hes old, but hes still good and versatile

We could have, but i think Ole thought Ighalo was good. Guy was shocking since the restart. Now it is pretty much panic station
 
I’m a little worried about this. Is this to keep fans happy as we are not getting Sancho?
Is this for competition in the striker department?
We seen what happened with Martial when Ibra came in. What will it mean for Martial? Surely he’s still number one? And if we sign a winger and a striker what does that mean for Greenwood. I think Greenwood could easily become one of the best players in the world, do we want to hinder him?
having said that you can’t argue with what Cavani has achieved, plus we’ve seen the likes of Larson and Ibra be success at a similar or older age.

Brilliant work. No one else wants him so we’ll give him a bumper contract, a huge signing on fee, and make sure his agents pockets are lined for the rest of his life.

Are you joking? :lol: Cavani has been nowhere near his peak levels in the last 2 seasons. His injury record has been awful.
