Edinson Cavani - Manchester United Player

Great addition
Didn’t think he had a great game today though but his energy levels are amazing
also gave away a silly goal but He has been so important for us recently and Rashford,Martial and Greenwood can only learn off him
 
Must admit I was sceptical when we got him and I worried we'd invested in yet another 30 odd year old whose best days have packed up and gone.

However, he's been brilliant. Doesn't look his age at all and has some intelligence and nous and our talented but naïve strikers aren't blessed with.
 
That was one of the finest headers I’ve seen for a long time that hit the post. How he got so much power on it from a standing start and a floated cross I’ll never know.

He oozes class and physically he must be some athlete at nearly 34 to have that much energy and speed still. Quality footballer and just what we need not only now but his type as a long term transfer target (who that person is I don’t now). The youngsters around him
should soak it all up.
 
Love him, always liked him but when you start watching him in full games, he’s just class. Zlatan scored a hatful for you but I prefer how Cavani plays, faster and more mobile. A top man as well.
 
He doesn't put a foot wrong, game after game. His tackles land, his passes connect, he outthinks his markers, he plays out of pressure, his runs are the right runs, he finishes most of his chances. He works relentlessly. He leads from the front. What an absolute bargain. I know he won't get Zlatan's numbers but for me he's an infinitely better signing for the progress of the team.

So unlucky not to score with that header that hit the post. The technique was a lesson for the three teammates (Maguire, Pogba and McTominay, I think?) who all put free headers well over the bar earlier in the game. And his performance deserved a goal.

EDIT: Of course, he did give the ball away for their goal! But tbf it was his only mistake and everyone else in the team was doing it constantly so you can't hold it against him too much.

Probably why I think it’s very important to play against the top 6 or 7 teams. They tend to play from the back and it can effective for counter attack.
 
Top additional, brings something we don’t have up front.

Going to keep eye on Kane in next couple of years just for similar type of signing like Cavani as the short term top class striker. Contract expired in 2024.

Yep I was sceptical as well, I thought we had signed another Falcao or even worse, Sanchez.

But thankfully he still seems to have a sharpness to him, one of those players with good all round attributes if nothing outstanding (perhaps aerially) He's hungry too, which for a player at PSG for so long can only be expected. And all for a free transfer, thanks Tommy Touch.
 
One of the best value signings in years. He is still a TOP player and a game changer like Bruno. It is not only about scoring goals but work rate and desire. His header today which came off the post was on par with prime Ronaldo.
 
There was a brief moment during the FA Cup match when Cavani was advising Greenwood (not sure what it was about) and you could see how much Greenwood looks up to him, taking in every word. Top bloke to have in the team.

I noticed that too but it was immediately after Greenwood scored so feck knows what advice he was giving him.

I think he went back to the moment when he should have squared it to Donny , you could see Cavani was frustrated with him for that.

I'm not making one. I'm Uruguayan, I love Cavani to bits, but think it is completely unnecessary to run down Larsson to say he is better.

Both top players, all the ifs and buts are misplaced.

Seemed to me he was highlighting to him what they had both done well there. Look at his hands, he is talking about the importance of stretching the defence and how by both simultaneously moving towards either end of the box they had isolated their markers and left (whoever it was that attempted to intercept with a header) in no man's land.

You see how he desperately chased back and how after the goal he hangs his head in shame and disappointment... can't ask for more. Shit happens, chin up and get on with it.
 
Prime Cavani would have been the typical SAF striker. We probably couldn’t compete with PSG’s finances but I would have love to have at least tried. Cavani is a winner, he may not score as many goals as Zlatan did but his overall play is better for us

That header that hit the post last night was SO good. He got an outrageous amonut of power on that. Take note Harry.

Cavani was a last resort signing, but he's playing like he's grateful to be here and wants to contribute until he's out of breath.

It was the jump, it felt like he stretched out like Stretch Armstrong and somehow still got plenty of power behind it, gutted it didn't go in.

We haven't really given him many chances like that in the box so far, but we seem to be starting to adjust to his playing style now.

You know the he has a passion in ballet, and you can see in his movement and execution where he know how to use his body (from the jump) to generate the power.
 
Can’t believe how good he’s been. Wasn’t expecting such an impact.

maybe because of the Alexis and Falcao experiences
 
There's been so many years now that we've got strikers who - either when they were bought, or starting soon after - have not really felt like our player.

Falcao obviously because he was a loan anyway. And Ighalo too. But Sanchez, Zlatan, even Lukaku I think - although maybe it was only after the first year when he started to slide, I don't remember.

Anyway, despite his age, now he's starting to play more, Cavani isn't feeling that way to me any more. He feels like part of the team, not just an extra piece on the side.

Yep you can definitely tell he's got a strong core to be able to do a standing jump like that and nod the ball down with such power. Deserved to be a goal.

Absolutely. He's the last player you can accuse of not doing enough or not caring. Yes he should not have lost the ball there but there was still time for the defence to have coped better.
 
For someone with his CV and came from star studded team, one would have thought he had huge ego. Heck, he even had a clash with Neymar. But, seems he's very professional and humble to accept his role. He also seems quite friendly but, yet, has quite nasty side in him during the game with them push and shove, little kicks at the heels here and there.

Oh, in his interview, Ole said he will be good for us "until the end of the season", didn't we already extended his contract for another year?
 
I know Zlatan will almost certainly be the bigger United legend just because he's Zlatan, but I honestly think Cavani adds more to a team overall and impresses me in ways that even Zlatan didn't.

So, so intelligent in his movement but works his absolute arse off. Hope he can keep this level up this season and next, would be a hell of a signing if so.
