Actually Nostradamus
Yes there fecking can.He is fecked.
And there can be no complaints
Is he trying to rile up a black man like Suarez was?

Of course, the whole term of endearment thing, which is actually true... except Suarez obviously used it differently. Not in the context of abuse so likely to be ok but Suarez comparisons will be inevitable.

United can nip this in the bud and confirm that he will partake in cultural education.
Be proactive and this will be a nothingburger, as it should be.
Worst case, he will get a 1-match ban like Bernardo.
Depends on the context. The Suarez comparisons will roll in, but that was clearly not the same thing.
This is the context that Suarez tried to use in his defense, which obviously didn't work because he used it during a heated spat with Evra. Would be madness if he got punished for this.Of course, the whole term of endearment thing, which is actually true... except Suarez obviously used it differently.
Can any word be racist on it's own, if you say a word in a positive response with a symbol of a handshake next to it. If that in any way can be misinterpreted then I'd say probably yes, there might be cause for someone to be upset about it and take it personally but I find it hard to believe anyone would take that response personal or negatively in any way, despite problematic words used. I might be wrong though.
Suarez used a problematic word to express hate. That's racist. Cavani hasn't, so I'm not sure.
Could he be in trouble for this?
He will be, yes.
Almost certainly and deservedly so i'm afraid. What a stupid thing to do, especially after he saw what happened to Suarez all those years ago. I think they will probably go all out on punishment for this probably 8 games.

He won't be punished. I was called negrito buy Spanish friends of mine as a teen. It means my black friend as a term of endearment if they are friends of yours. Words have different meanings I context and I am sure the English can understand this. In Spain they use words like Negra to describe a black woman and it's part of their language. People need to chill. David Silva is called "El Chino". He'll be fineCrap. He'll punished for it. Hopefully nothing more than 1 game ban or so.
That’s what I was thinking. Similar to Bernardo.Yeah it's more akin to Bernardo than Suarez. He'll likely get one match and be sent for re-neducation.

Recoba was nicknamed that too.Marcos Maidana too, El Chino being his tagline as he enters the ring

Bernardo Silva went a step too far by making fun of his teammate's skin colour, it was a racial joke. This would've been a non story if not for spiteful liverpool fans.
Excellent
"I hear you're a racist now Edison"
And our World Cup winning captain Obdulio Varela was El Negro Jefe.Recoba was nicknamed that too.

I have at least 4 friends I call negro and it stands at the same level as calling one of then Rulo/Curl (he has curly hair). People can call their mates whatever the feck they want really.

Not on a public platform you can’t.
a lot of you on here need to take off youd rose tinted specs.
If it were another team we'd all quite rightly be saying discipline him, regardless of intentions.
Get a grip. Jesus Christ, who let you in here.
No and I say this as a Black person. Cavani didn't say anything offensive.
It's not the point though. If it were another team no one's batting an eyelid at saying he should be banned, regardless of context. No and I say this as a Black person. Cavani didn't say anything offensive.

What? We know it's a term of endearment, and it was obviously used as such in this context. If another team's Spanish speaking player had used it in a similar context, I very much doubt any rational poster on here would be calling for a ban. It's not the point though. I'm not arguing the point of whether it's racist or not. Go through this thread and tell me exactly where I have said he and what he has said is racist. I'll wait.No they would not. People are not so reactionary.
People want racism to be ground out where it exists. They do not want to chase phantoms.
I don't know what colour you are. I have spent my life trying to get people to take racism seriously. It never helps when you blow up things like this, which are not really racist. You just lose the room when you come to people with things that are deeply offensive.

I'm arguing that if it were another team, regardless of the context, people will be saying ban him because you can't say it in England and move on. Suddenly because it's United were making excuses.
Be consistent.
