Wish he gets to feel the love of a home OT crowd or an away United crowd. If he produces some of the stuff he did today again then he will enjoy his time with us immensely.

Can any word be racist on it's own, if you say a word in a positive response with a symbol of a handshake next to it. If that in any way can be misinterpreted then I'd say probably yes, there might be cause for someone to be upset about it and take it personally but I find it hard to believe anyone would take that response personal or negatively in any way, despite problematic words used. I might be wrong though.

Again exactly right. White or Black are not racist terms. However, if someone were to say I did X to you because you are Black (as the FA found Suarez did) that's totally different.
I am not saying this cos it's Cavani, I am saying it cos it's common sense (and that was actually affirmed by the FA judgement against Suarez). The FA concluded had Suarez used the term in a friendly context it wouldn't have been problematic. However, the investigation showed his claim to have used it in a friendly way was BS.

He won't be punished. I was called negrito buy Spanish friends of mine as a teen. It means my black friend as a term of endearment if they are friends of yours. Words have different meanings I context and I am sure the English can understand this. In Spain they use words like Negra to describe a black woman and it's part of their language. Bernardo Silva went a step too far by making fun of his teammate's skin colour, it was a racial joke. This would've been a non story if not for spiteful liverpool fans.

Exactly. Spiteful Scousers who still, after 9 years, choose to believe Suarez's version of events. Even though the FA found it to be totally unreliable, given the context, Evra's evidence and contradictions in the defences offered by Suarez's own Liverpool teammates.

I don't know what colour you are. I have spent my life trying to get people to take racism seriously. It never helps when you blow up things like this, which are not really racist. You just lose the room when you come to people with things that are deeply offensive.

I struggle to see how anything will come out of this. Isn't the context that he was communicating with a specific person on social media??? And once alerted that this could be problematic, he deleted it. I understand it's a regularly used term of endearment in South America. There's no abuse or mickey taking or the slightest intention of such. Why on earth should he face any sanction for this???
