People who never watched him play thought he was target man like hoof the ball type target man.
Yeah it's kinda funny seeing these kinds of ideas popping up and actually gaining traction. The internet is basically a mindless mob. It’s funny that people are realising how good he was in his prime. There was a comment on the cafe a couple of years ago that said Troy Deeney is a better striker than Cavani
Lukaku literally plays in the same league. For many years and was one of the top scorers as well. Kinda hard for anyone who supports man united to not notice how Lukaku plays. They did the same with Lukaku and, it turned out, they were right with their original assessment. Most wanted Di Maria and Sanchez from the moment we were linked, but they were wrong. Same for many others. Not every player is going to be a hit here.
I'm not saying this with regards to Cavani, because I'm torn on how I think he'll do. Somewhere between decent if he's fit to absolute waste of time if he isn't.
But I was against us signing the 3 names that I mentioned and, like you, I was also annoyed to see people reeling out YouTube highlights and getting over excited about a player, but for a different reason...because you just knew they weren't the right fit for United and it wouldn't work. Fast forward a few months and you've then got people questioning how the club could get it so wrong.
The lazy narrative is when they've never seen Cavani play and then they see how tall he is and assume he is another target man and they imagine all target men are like Lukaku. Forgetting how good Harry Kane is. Because it doesn't suit their intended narrative of complaining.
Or they see he is south american with long hair and assume he will be another Falcao.
Cavani is neither.
