Edin Terzic | Leaves Borussia Dortmund

So he might not be too keen going back there anyway, will need to look elsewhere.
I wouldn't overrate that. While it's true that Sancho and Terzic have a great relation, Terzic isn't the only one. Sancho in general seems to be well liked at the club. So he might still be willing to return to Dortmund (and they might still be willing to lowball United to get him).

Will Dortmund bring Thomas Tuchel back, or maybe try to temp Poch to go there?
Tuchel is highly unlikely after he fell out with Watzke and Mislintat who are both still (or again) at the club.

Nuri Sahin is probably the most likely replacement after arriving in the winter as new assistant to Terzic and being seen as the potential successor already then.

Fun fact: Terzic has the 7th best points per game of all managers in the Bundesliga history (looking only at those who managed at least 34 games / a full season) with 1.97. That puts him just between CL winners Hitzfeld (1.98) and van Gaal (1.94). Hitzfeld is retired, Sascha Lewandowski (5th with 2.04) is dead, so there are only four active managers with a better career PPG in the league - Pep 2.52, Flick 2.45, Ancelotti 2.38 and Alonso 2.25.

That's actually quite impressive considering how shite Dortmund often looked under him

Just reading Hummels commets. I think they're bloody outrageous. For a player to talk like that to the press about the tactics is unacceptable.

whats worse is he said all of this in the lead up to the Champions League final...one of the most important matches in club football. What did he think he was gonna achieve? Really damaged morale and unity in that dressing room with those comments and I'm not surprised the manager got into a tussle with him. I'd be absolutely fuming.

He is average at best. He set them up as an underdog with „big and physical“ players and a random assortment of attackers.
Hummels (who is an absolute tool) told Dortmund, that it is either him or Terzic which probably means that the latter has lost parts of the players.

What makes Hummels an absolute tool in this?
He kept quiet in public when Terzic critized him publicly and unnecessarily in December, he kept quiet when Terzic was hanging on for dear life around Christmas and he kept quiet when he Süle was ahead of him after the winter break and Terzic reportedly was - again - one bad result away from getting sacked.
What he did do however was perform on the highest of levels despite his grievances.

I don't think anything he said in the interview was factually wrong either, it's more like he reminded everyone about the standards some people at the club seem to have forgotten.

Now the timing of the interview was of course highly suspect. But there's also degrees here, e.g. did he express what "everyone" in the team was thinking or did he just go by his own impression; did he just do it out of spite, or out of principle and to what extend was it the reason for Terzic stepping down?

Considering the career he's had, with 500 games for the club, I don't have a problem with him taking responsibility like this, as long as it wasn't just out of pettiness.

And finally, what's being framed as some "me vs him" request is really just Hummels being a free agent and deciding where he wants to spend the last year of his career. Not wanting to play for a coach you don't respect is far from unreasonable.

Actually I think he wanted to achieve exactly what happened: Dortmund tried to actually play (and did it very well, they dominated Madrid in the first half). That wasn't a typical Terzic approach to that final.

I wouldn't be surprised if those players who opposed Terzic (Hummels publicly, but Reus is also said to have been critical of Terzic) more or less decided on that together with their old teammates Sahin and Bender (who came in as new coaches in the winter) and more or less overruled Terzic. Terzic leaving could be a logical consequence of that.

Say what you want about him but this decision was very impressive, IMO. I was under the impression that he wasn't good enough tactically as well but even if he wasn't, few people have the self reflection to admit it and those who do are likely to improve in the future. Hope we see more of him and would be happy for him if he still becomes a top coach

Sahin his replacement, interesting
So everything happens as expected during the winter break despite surprisingly reaching the CL final. That's more boring than interesting

Nothing to base it on really except for his personality and what he was like as a player, but I think Sahin will do well

Feel kinda sorry for him, came so close winning league a year ago + this years CL and now he's getting labeled as flop, yikes! football can be so brutal sometimes.
