Eden Hazard | "It's time to enjoy life drinking beers"

  How dramatic is the sports journalism in Spain.

This show is fantastic. Fortunately I get along just fine with Spanish, and love watching tidbits when I can. It's just insane stuff, and I say that by Portuguese TV show's standard which is high already.

The overly dramatic opinion of each event is bonkers. Tomas Roncero, believe it or not, is the real life impersonation of the biggest reddit Ronaldo fans. Cristobal Soria hates Madrid more then the devil itself. The CR - Messi debates back when both were in Spain were like someone was reading out loud the Redcafe thread.

What an overreaction about Hazard from them there as usual.

I have to say though, imagine putting up 100M for Ronaldo and the next 100M you put to your number 7 shirt turning out like this. Hardcore stuff

Yes he's gone to pasture in Spain but those talking him down based on his PL time are mental. One of the best players in PL history without any doubt whatsoever. In his last season he contributed HALF of the entire teams goals and assists ffs..

presumably he’s got at least 2 years left on his contract? Massive problem buying these older players, or putting ageing players on massive/ long contracts.

no one is paying a fee for him, given his wages. Real have the same problem they have with Real and that we had with Sanchez.

They probably have the money to pay him out of his contract if they really wanted to. I think Florentino Perez would want to see him suceed given the investment though.

Feel for the guy. Brilliant footballer but he seems past it after all those injuries.

Think this story might be the final nail in the coffin for those mega transfers. Madrid paid 140m although they could've got him on a free one year later. It just shows that no matter how good the player is, there's always the risk of failure.

We almost certainly would not have let him leave on a free. It sounds like an agreement was made between Hazard and the club about him staying as long as he did then moving on for a healthy fee. Chelsea aren't mugs when it comes to transfers.

I hope so. These transfers are madness.

but top footballers are scarce - so I wouldn’t bet on it.

It's not the pressure he looks physically done
Yeah that cod easily be the injury. He always came back slowly from injuries. But even those aside, he was never living up to the £100m tag at Madrid.

where did it all go wrong eden...

He never was a really productive player. I think he only has 8 UCL goals in all his career.

I think him and Benzema are a terrible match up too. They occupy the same space.

Never?! That is a bonkers take. He was absolutely elite for what? 8 years? It happens, he's shot.

I used the example that he only has 8 UCL goals, he was a great player i just said productive

"Madrid eliminated and Hazard having a laugh. 2 years teasing Madridismo, overweight, without dribbling anyone. I was reading a while ago and some of you said "another Bale". To be in football just like this. To be there just because you have to be.
Madrid 3 years waiting for him, paid 100, 120 million euros?. You just have been eliminated, can be something to be amused?. After Zidane gives you the chance that you don´t deserve you laugh everyone? . We can talk if Ramos was ok, changes that must be done (...) but Hazard´s issue is very serious"

He was just having a little fun with his mates. Id be more concerned about Perez slowly turning into Dr.Evil if i was a RM supporter.

And few will disagree, including me, but that doesn't really change the fact that stability has always been his biggest issue. He would have one insane season followed by a poor one, perform again and then dip, it's hardly a coincidence when it happens again and again. Plenty of players have a bit of an issue with not maintaining fitness during holidays, returning to pre-season far too heavy. There's Rooney, Tevez and Higuain to mention the obvious ones, but Hazard is easy to include as well. I don't think he has the mentality for it, the determination required to consistently perform at the level he has the potential to be at.

I have no doubt that he'll be mint next season, just as I have no doubt that the season after that will be a let down.

Interesting, i was way off with him being mint.
Maybe next season

So many flops that happen when players move leagues or environment seen nearly every season - no idea how the GOAT is a one league wonder to so many people.

Agreed.

That Sarri season it genuinely looked like your entire attacking gameplan was give the ball to Hazard and hope he does something.

I was actually shocked at how awful he was yesterday. Looked a totally different player.

Madrid gets a lot of flack for the 1 year left on contract situation but Hazard told them if Madrid didnt make a deal, he would resign with Chelsea so it wasnt really 1 year left in practical terms.
