Eden Hazard has retired from professional football - the streets will never forget him

Never warmed to him before he came to the premier league with his "which club will I sign for" social media nonsense. Made him look arrogant.

But over rated he wasnt, there were a couple of seasons at Chelsea he was the best player in the league. But that doesnt make him one of the premierships all time greats as many others did it for far longer.

Since leaving France the truth is his career until retiring, he lived up to his potential for 20% of it, one season especially he was dreadful. Despite the talent and periods of greatness he is abot as much an all time premiership great as Rashford is an all time United great

Eden Hazard has to rank highest amongst the most overrated players in Football History. His last few years at Chelsea and Madrid was Quaresma level. Zero Professionalism, zero integrity. Couch potato. Absolutely hate Mourinho but he gauged all these showboats perfectly. Please don't compare this guy to Messi and Ronaldo, don't even put them on the same sentence. People hypothezising him being a success at United have been brainwashed into thinking his youtube skills will somehow translate into on-pitch success for us. We have had many skillful players since Sir Alex, its their attitudes that have been utter shite and players like Hazard would have been toxic for us.

Have been on this forum for nearly 7 years now and this might be the single dumbest post I've read in my life. One of the four players ever to put up a 15+ goal and 15+ assist season as he did in his last Chelsea season in the PL is "Quaresma level"?

Give your head a wobble

Got his big move to Madrid then suddenly stopped giving a feck about football, what a shame. Incredible player at Chelsea, one of the best dribblers the league has seen.

If we'd signed him instead of Kagawa it might have delayed our decline a bit.

He did the same thing he'd always done at Chelsea - show up unfit and play himself into shape. He'd quietly rebounded from his slow start to be one of Madrid's best players before Meunier destroyed his ankle in the CL.

Truly individualistic geniuses like Messi, Neymar and Hazard are the last of a generation, they don’t exist anymore. When Haaland wins the Ballon d’Or, it shall be symbolic because it’ll show us exactly where football is heading.

Lazy and bone idle. Caught up him in the end for not training properly or eating correctly.

Good luck to him. Not everyone wants to play 1,000 games and live religiously to a stringent diet because they're too insecure to think of a life after football.

Also it's funny to think of a player who played 750 pro games as "lazy", including 126 for his country, as if it didn't take incredible hard work and sacrifice.

Hazard played his best football after Mourinho left, his last few years at Chelsea were the best he ever played, what are you on about? And he would have been our best player by miles, which is why Ferguson was after him, but he chose Chelsea.

He was the definition of a maverick.

One of those rare players who was not only ridiculously good at dribbling, but also had the footballing intelligence to utilise his skills. His link up play was fantastic too. Always seemed to be able to form partnerships with players on the pitch. Great finisher too. Two footed and never panics.

Was an absolute nightmare to play against.

Retiring at age 32. What a huge fecking waste of a player. Couldn't he get an offer at Saudi or MLS ?

Eden Hazard is easily the best player Chelsea have had in my lifetime. Is he the greatest? No. That's a split between Lampard and Terry.

He is set for his life. How is it a waste? Its clear he wasn't enjoying himself.

His body had for years been showing alarming signs of breaking down due to the demands of professional football. It's obvious his passion for playing the game had gone and he probably wants to live the rest of his life without being in constant pain so why bother continuing?

Eden and his wife have four kids and to me he's always come across a family man first, footballer second. I'm sure he'd have gotten some offers if that's what he really wanted but it's not like he needed to upend his family's lives by moving to some shithole to keep playing just for the money as his career earnings should be well above £100M already and that's just for the salaries and not even including any sponsorship deals, image rights etc. I think it's really admirable he chose to focus on his family rather than whore himself out to the Saudis.

I really don't think people would be saying all these insanely negative things about Hazard if he'd simply been hit by a truck and died in 2019 instead of joining Real Madrid.

The streets would never have forgotten him because parts of him would still be on them
